Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Bad habits formed by being accustomed

It took her a few minutes to regain her composure. She raised her hand, shakily wiping the cold sweat from her forehead. Her sleep gown was already damp with sweat, sticking wetly to her body.

She lifted the silk quilt, got out of bed, took out a new sleep gown from the wardrobe, and entered the bath chamber.

After changing into the clean sleep gown, Sophie Sullivan stood in front of the mirror, staring at her own face.

She gently covered half of her face, scarred and crisscrossed, ugly enough to be terrifying.

Who wanted to kill her? Who had destroyed her face? And who had thrown her into the asylum?

Various questions flashed through her mind. She held her aching head and squatted down uncomfortably, her slender body curled into a ball, moaning painfully on the ground.

Thomas Shannon returned, his cold eyes scanning the bedroom, not seeing the maniac.

His gaze shifted to the closed bath chamber door.

He pushed open the bedroom door, seeing the woman curled up on the ground. Thomas Shannon’s eyes darkened, "Maniac?"

Sophie’s expression was pained, her hands tightly clutching her head, her body trembling uncontrollably. "Can I go out for a while tomorrow?"

"Where to?"

Sophie pursed her lips, her movements slowing down. "To the asylum."

Thomas Shannon chuckled lightly. "No need to go."

"Why not?"

She wasn’t trying to escape, so why couldn’t she just go out for a little while?

"The asylum caught fire. A large fire burned it to ashes."

Caught fire? Why did it catch fire just after she left the asylum? Was there really such a coincidence in the world...?

Sophie fell deep into thought. After a good while, she got up and walked out.

As she brushed past him, she didn’t give him a single glance.

Thomas Shannon’s bright brows furrowed fiercely. "Maniac, are you protesting against me?"

Sophie walked out with a heavy heart. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"Come back!"

Behind her came the man’s angry growl.

Sophie ignored it and strode away.

Thomas Shannon rubbed his forehead. "Spoiled with bad habits!"

「The next day.」

Thomas Shannon left early in the morning while Sophie was still asleep.

In the black stretched Lincoln, Charlie River handed Thomas Shannon a document.

"Young Master, this is the intelligence just received. The Chief of Country O’s Military intends to launch a coup within this month. They are currently in negotiations with arms dealers from various countries."

"This month?"

Thomas Shannon stroked his chin and narrowed his eyes. "It’s mid-month now, so if there’s going to be a coup, it can only be at the end of the month."

Charlie River nodded. "The information we have now shows that Country F and Country J both intend to offer preferential prices, planning on starting a price war."

Two heavy industry groups from Country F and Country J had always been secretly competing with the K Group. This time, they must have received word that the K Group planned to secure the order from Country O. Therefore, they were eager to start a price war before them, attempting to seize the order with the advantage of price.

"Give me the detailed information on the Chief of Country O’s Military." Thomas Shannon stroked his chin, lost in thought.

Charlie River opened his laptop and immediately brought up the leader’s detailed information.

"Young Master, take a look."

Behind the Chief of Country O’s Military was a family business. In the past two years, the family wealth had been in continuous decline due to oppression from government forces. With great authority, the leader intended to overthrow the government forces and try to rule Country O with military power.

Thomas Shannon closed the computer with an almost laugh, one hand supporting his forehead. "Arrange it. I’ll meet him myself."
