Chapter 681: Chapter 684: The Scent of Cecilia Branford is Already Gone

The butler stepped forward nervously. "Young Master Lucifer, Miss Cecilia Branford will be scared."

Lucifer’s eyes were dark and cold. His posture was elegantly noble, his hands casually inserted in his suit trouser pockets. He lifted his long leg and kicked the butler away.

"Do I look like someone who would harm Cecilia Branford?"

The butler flew back and fell to the ground, one hand covering his abdomen, struggling to stand up. "I apologize for my rudeness, Young Master Lucifer."

With that, the butler, doctor, nurse, and servants exited the bedroom in a single file.

The spacious bedroom suddenly became quiet.

Lucifer turned, looking at Cecilia Branford curled up in a ball. His scarlet thin lips hooked slightly as he sat down at her bedside. His deep blue eyes, like the breakless ocean, gazed profoundly at her. "Cecilia, I am Lucifer, have you forgotten?"

"You... don’t come any closer." Cecilia Branford covered her face with both hands, her face full of fear.

Lucifer raised his hand and touched his forehead. "How pitiful. My Cecilia has forgotten me."

The next second, he stretched out his hand, firmly grasped her wrist, and pulled her into his embrace. Cecilia Branford screamed and immediately fainted in his arms.

Lucifer was momentarily speechless. Ha, with such little courage, she dared to impersonate his Cecilia Branford?

He wanted to throw the woman in his arms away in disgust, but he had to see the act through to the end. So, he carefully laid her down on the bed and covered her with a silk quilt.

One hand caressed her face, the corner of his mouth curved in a mocking smirk, yet his voice was unusually gentle. "Cecilia, it’s okay if you’ve forgotten me. I will make you remember everything."

"During the year of my absence, you have suffered a lot. I won’t leave you again, and I won’t let you get hurt anymore."

Forcing himself to sit in the bedroom for a while longer, Lucifer then got up and left.

This bedroom no longer holds Cecilia Branford’s scent; I don’t want to stay even one second more. If it weren’t for the fact that I can’t expose the truth about Cecilia Branford yet, and can’t let anyone know I’ve discovered everything, I wouldn’t have forced myself to play this charade.

The people waiting in the corridor outside the bedroom door saw Lucifer emerge and said respectfully, "Young Master Lucifer, the Duchess is waiting for you downstairs."

"No hurry. I’ll go see Gaby first. Last time I was here, I left in a hurry and didn’t have time to visit Gaby. There’s plenty of time now. I’ll go see Gaby."

Lucifer glanced at his wristwatch, the corner of his mouth slightly curved.

The butler hesitated. "Young Master, Gaby has already been sent to the Middle East for breeding."

"Whose order was that?"

Lucifer’s eye color darkened. He fiercely grabbed the butler’s collar and pinned him against the wall. "Speak!"

"Young Master, it was... it was a command given by Miss Cecilia Branford before her car accident."

The butler stuttered, his collar tightly gripped by Lucifer, the feeling of suffocation immediately washing over him.

"One year ago?"

It had been no more than a year since Lucifer left; Miss Cecilia Branford’s car accident and injury had occurred not long after his departure.

If Gaby was sent away on Miss Cecilia Branford’s orders before her car accident, then a year should have been enough time for breeding. It was impossible that Gaby had not been brought back yet.

To tell a lie, one must at least craft it meticulously, leaving no discernible flaws.

Lucifer sneered coldly. His hand gripped the butler’s neck, and he tightened his grasp dramatically, his eyes dark and gloomy. "You’re telling me, after a whole year, Gaby still hasn’t successfully bred?"

"Young Master, please calm down!" The butler’s face turned purple-red.
