Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 687 - 690: Her name is Sophie Sullivan, my girlfriend.
"Young Master Shannon, please have some tea. Miss, please have some tea."
"Thank you." Sophie Sullivan smiled and nodded.
Her voice was soft and warm, her demeanor elegant. She was neither overbearing nor servile, and there was no trace of tension or fear in her.
On her face was half of a glamorous ruby mask, refracting dazzling light under the light.
The half-face exposed to the public was exquisitely beautiful. Her skin was as white as snow, delicate and flawless, and her slightly upturned red lips bore a hint of aloofness.
Her captivating eyes, full of mystery, made people long to uncover her true face.
The President and First Lady, both high-ranking individuals, had discerning eyes. Yet, they found it difficult to see through Sophie Sullivan for a moment.
A typical aristocratic lady might not have possessed such courage, to remain composed and neither servile nor overbearing in the presence of His Excellency Mr. President. If she were the young lady of a prominent, high-ranking family and possessed such poise, she would not be an unknown figure.
"Thomas Shannon, aren’t you going to introduce her to your Uncle and Auntie?" His Excellency Mr. President raised his tea cup and took a sip, his tone light-heartedly teasing.
Thomas Shannon, in a relaxed posture, wrapped his arm around Sophie Sullivan’s shoulder, pulling her body into his embrace, and said possessively, "Her name is Sophie Sullivan. My girlfriend."
After a pause, he leaned over and whispered affectionately by her ear, "Fennie, greet Uncle and Auntie."
Sophie Sullivan smiled. "Hello Uncle, hello Auntie. I wish you both a lifetime of togetherness, until your hair turns white."
The word ’girlfriend’ made His Excellency Mr. President and the First Lady simultaneously show a hint of surprise. Then, the First Lady laughed, "Thomas Shannon, how come I haven’t heard your mother mention this?"
"My mother is completely absorbed in painting and music; she has no time for my personal affairs."
The First Lady’s smile grew more intriguing. "Oh, is that so?"
The topic was soon changed. After all, the theme of the evening was the thirtieth anniversary, and the protagonists were His Excellency Mr. President and the First Lady.
After chatting in the side hall for a while, the four of them moved to the main hall, where the guests had already arrived.
There were not many guests, about thirty people in all, making it a relatively small banquet.
This was enough to show that the guests invited to the Presidential Mansion to offer congratulations were all of distinguished identity.
Sophie Sullivan knew no one. Thomas Shannon, however, was well-known; before the banquet started, guests who saw him would raise their glasses in greeting and approach him to exchange a few words.
The banquet began with a film, narrating the thirty-year marriage of His Excellency Mr. President and the First Lady, and the trials and tribulations they had experienced together.
There were no superfluous, flowery words, only a plain and simple narration.
The film, lasting more than ten minutes, reviewed various memorable moments from His Excellency Mr. President and the First Lady’s thirty years together.
"What are you thinking?" Thomas Shannon leaned towards her ear and asked in a lowered voice.
Sophie Sullivan snapped back to reality, her voice quiet. "Nothing. Just envious."
Thirty years...
Thirty years of affection, unwavering through the decades.
How could one not be envious?
For those in high positions, maintaining pure feelings is no easy feat. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
But His Excellency Mr. President and the First Lady had managed it. He is the President of a country, and she is the First Lady.
They played different roles, yet they shared the same deep love for each other.
Thomas Shannon’s eye color was deep, so profound that Sophie Sullivan couldn’t understand them. He whispered with a low laugh, "There’s no need to envy others."
Because we can too.
Thomas Shannon didn’t say this, not because he didn’t dare, but because he disdained to.
Compared to beautifully extravagant words, he preferred to prove himself through actions.
After the banquet, Thomas Shannon and Sophie Sullivan left the Presidential Mansion and returned to the manor.
