Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 718 - 721: No one can take away what belongs to you
Without guessing, Sophie knew what Lucifer was referring to as the "tail."
Setting foot on Country F’s land, she also knew, without needing to guess, who was watching Lucifer.
For this reason, she had no choice but to endure it.
Half of her scab-covered face was hidden by her hair, while the other, unscathed half had exaggerated makeup applied.
Leaning against the chair back, Sophie brushed her hair aside to let her face breathe. "Where are we going now?"
"To my manor."
After a pause, Lucifer added, "Don’t worry, my Daddy and Mommy aren’t there. You can stay with peace of mind."
He would bring his Daddy and Mommy to meet her when she was willing for them to be told.
"Oh." Sophie’s expression turned somewhat listless, and her mood suddenly plummeted.
Being unable to return home—this was likely an accurate description of her current state of mind. Even though I’m already back in my homeland, I still can’t step into my own home...
"Cecilia Branford, don’t be sad." Seeing her sadness, Lucifer reached out, drew her into his embrace, and softly comforted her, "Your belongings—no one can take them away. I will win them all back for you."
"Lucifer..."
"Hmm?" Lucifer looked down at her.
Sophie lifted her eyelids. The fragile look deep in her eyes, which she couldn’t hide, shone brightly in his. "Can I go see my Daddy and Mommy?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Lucifer couldn’t bear to refuse her, but his rational side told him he had to.
This wasn’t the best time. Her appearance would inevitably draw the attention of certain people.
"Cecilia Branford..." Lucifer let out an almost inaudible sigh and gently caressed her back with one hand. "I’m sorry."
Lowering her long eyelashes, disappointment evident in her voice, Sophie nodded. "I understand..."
"Don’t be unhappy, dear. There’s a surprise waiting for you at the manor."
Sophie had no interest in, nor anticipation for, the so-called surprise.
Upon returning to the manor, Lucifer got out of the car and opened her door himself. The butler and servants bowed in greeting.
"Welcome home, Your Highness and Miss Cecilia Branford."
Sophie looked at Lucifer, her brow furrowing slightly. Lucifer reached out and removed the exaggerated, explosive curly wig from her head. "Don’t worry," he said. "They’re all my people. They won’t leak any information."
Only then did Sophie feel reassured. Lucifer led her into the house, holding her hand.
"My dear, go to your bedroom and take a bath first. I’ll bring the surprise to see you later."
Lucifer escorted her to an exceptionally luxurious bedroom, one even more extravagant than Thomas Shannon’s, and clearly designed with feminine tastes in mind.
Its lavish and exquisite beauty deeply appealed to her.
The servants had already filled the bathtub with water, scattered fresh petals in it, and added essential oil to soothe her nerves.
Relaxing incense had been lit, and its faint scent drifted through the air of the bath chamber.
"Miss Cecilia Branford, here are your change of clothes. If you need anything, please let us know." The servants bowed their heads respectfully.
Sophie nodded gently in acknowledgment and then entered the bath chamber.
Looking at her exaggerated makeup in the mirror, she massaged her temples in distress. Outside the bath chamber, a maidservant said respectfully, "Miss Cecilia Branford, allow us to help you remove your makeup."
"Mm."
Sophie nodded. She had been longing to remove all these messy things from her person and wipe off the foundation caked on her skin.
Sitting at the washstand, Sophie was attended to by three servants, who carefully and gently removed all the makeup from her skin.
