Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 721 - 724: Young Master Will Not Punish You
It lifted its head apprehensively to glance in Sophie Sullivan’s direction.
Only after seeing its master lay down on the bed and close her eyes to rest did it let its head droop.
Behaving like a well-behaved baby, it rested its head on its forelimbs, closed its eyes, and prepared to sleep.
Lucifer patted Gaby’s head, whispering, "Gaby, I’m leaving Miss Cecilia Branford to you."
Gaby, with closed eyes, rubbed its head against him.
A smile touched Lucifer’s lips, and he left the bedroom.
Softly closing the bedroom door behind him, Lucifer went straight to his study room, sitting down in the dead of night. He rubbed his forehead with one hand and inquired, "Leo, did we shake off Thomas Shannon’s men?"
"Your Highness, we’ve already shaken them off."
Lucifer’s eyes darkened, and his excessively handsome face held a cruel, sinister look. "There’s something I need you to handle personally."
Leo said seriously, "Your Highness, please instruct me."
Lucifer lowered his voice. After Leo heard him out, he nodded. "Rest assured, Your Highness, I will handle it immediately."
Lucifer stood up and went to the floor-to-ceiling window, standing with his hands behind his back. His eyes darkened ominously. He wouldn’t spare anyone who bullied Cecilia Branford.
George Stanford had been locked in a dark cell for one day and one night.
Throughout this day and night, he hadn’t had a drop of water.
After the initial interrogation, nobody came to see him again.
In the damp, dark environment, it was empty, without even a straw mat. He sat on the ground, his body leaning against the wall.
Each time he was on the brink of sleep, he was startled awake by rats and cockroaches.
After waking up, he was so fearful he could not fall asleep again.
He had managed to survive this day and night with sheer grit.
After an unknown amount of time, footsteps were heard in the corridor, and the thick iron door to the dark cell was opened.
The heavy door made a shrill, piercing noise as it opened.
The man in black stood at the doorway and said coldly, "Dr. Stanford, you may come out now."
Dr. Stanford?
Upon hearing this, George knew he was safe.
He breathed a sigh of relief, stood up, and staggered out.
The man in black did not trouble him anymore. When George asked where he should go, the man in black said, "Dr. Stanford, you can return to the medical office to rest. Everything is as usual."
"You mean, Young Master Shannon isn’t pursuing the matter anymore?" George Stanford found this unexpected joy too sudden, almost unbelievable.
It was hard to believe Thomas Shannon had let him off so easily.
He had been an accomplice in helping Fiona escape, yet Thomas held no grudges against him?
A miracle. This was simply a miracle.
The man in black said, "Dr. Stanford, you were forced into this situation. The Young Master will not punish you."
"Yes, yes, yes, I was compelled! It’s all that ungrateful Fiona’s fault for forcing me."
Upon returning to his medical office, the first thing George Stanford did was take a bath. Feeling refreshed after his bath, he took out his mobile phone.
Before Sophie Sullivan had left, she had given him a phone number.
She had told him to call this number in times of crisis.
Now, George Stanford was safe. He just wanted to know if Sophie was okay.
If Thomas Shannon wasn’t pursuing him, did that mean she had already been captured?
As he dialed the number Sophie had given him, he waited with bated breath.
"Hello."
Derek Clark’s voice came through. Stanford, a little surprised, asked, "And who might you be to Fiona?"
"Are you Dr. Stanford?" Derek Clark’s tone changed.
"I am George Stanford. Who are you to Fiona?"
"I’m Derek. Miss Cecilia Branford sent me to assist you."
Assist?
Miss Cecilia Branford?
George Stanford suddenly realized. He remembered Fiona had told him that her name was Cecilia Branford.
