Chapter 731: Chapter 734: Anyone who bullies Cecilia Branford will have to pay the price.

"Miss Cecilia Branford, Gaby is very happy to be with you. Animals are like humans; when they’re in a good mood, their physical recovery speeds up."

Sophie Sullivan couldn’t believe it. She sat up and grasped one of Gaby’s claws, pinching it lightly. "Is that so, Gaby?"

Gaby let out a proud howl.

The veterinarian packed up the medical box and left.

Under the sunshine, Sophie and Gaby snuggled together. Her smile was dazzling; in that instant, she looked radiantly beautiful.

Lucifer also sat down. He raised his hand and gently rubbed her head. "Cecilia Branford."

Sophie, who was playing with Gaby, absentmindedly replied, "Hmm?"

Lucifer just smiled, his gaze doting on her.

After a long time, Sophie grew tired from playing. She lay down on the Lawn, using Gaby’s stomach as a pillow.

Gaby lay still obediently, letting his master use him as a pillow, as docile as a house cat.

Sophie looked at Lucifer; his facial color was slightly pale under the sunshine, and his scarlet thin lips seemed to have faded considerably.

He appeared weaker, yet the seductive, somewhat sinister charm about him had only intensified.

The black shirt he wore highlighted his bewitching presence, captivating those who looked at him.

"Lucifer, what’s wrong?" Sophie reached out her hand, and Lucifer immediately took it.

He smiled, the corner of his mouth lifting, and gently pressed a kiss onto the back of her hand.

"Why are your hands so cold?" Sophie’s heart plummeted. She sat up at once, gripping Lucifer’s hand tightly.

Lucifer’s deep blue eyes, as blue as sea water, shimmered with a captivating light. "I’ve always had a cool constitution," he said. "Didn’t you say, Cecilia, that you love hugging me most in the summer?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

He opened his arms, the corner of his mouth curving into a smile. "Do you want a hug?"

Sophie, skeptical, rushed into his embrace, feeling an unusual coolness.

It was summer, and the outdoor temperature was high.

Yet, his skin felt cool and smooth, with no sign of sweat; embracing him indeed felt refreshingly cool.

Lucifer rested his chin on her forehead, nuzzling her affectionately. "Do you believe me now?"

"Alright, I’ll believe you for now." Sophie pulled back slightly from his embrace, her beautiful eyes fixed on him. "Lucifer, you can’t hide anything from me, understand?"

"Anything?"

"Yes!" Sophie narrowed her eyes slightly. "If I find out that you’re hiding something from me, I won’t forgive you."

Lucifer cupped her face, laughing softly. Their foreheads touched. "Then what should I do? I have been hiding something from Cecilia."

"Out with it. What is it?"

"I tampered with Thomas Shannon’s car. If all goes as expected, he’ll have a little accident."

Sophie stiffened.

Lucifer kissed her forehead, his voice soft yet solemn as a vow. "My dear, anyone who bullies you will pay the price."

Anyone!

Sophie should be happy. She knew she should be delighted; after all, Thomas Shannon was so hateful. He was always capricious, bullying her and allowing Minimus Hart and Raina Bell to sabotage her from the shadows. That wasn’t even mentioning Minimus Hart repeatedly confronting her, or Raina Bell’s attempts to kill her. All these incidents, one after another, had piled up, overshadowing any good he had ever shown her. Thomas Shannon was so hateful; he deserved to pay the price. Now Lucifer was avenging her, so why... why didn’t she feel happy?
