Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 797 - 799: Thomas Shannon, you haven’t slept yet?
Sophie Sullivan reached out and embraced him.
Ever since she met Lucifer, he had been giving without seeking anything in return. She saw everything he did and kept it in her heart.
Lucifer lowered his head and dotingly patted her head. "When did my Cecilia Branford become so distant?"
Sophie Sullivan laughed softly, and Lucifer continued, "Isn’t it only right I do these things for you?"
"Lucifer, you must be an angel sent by God to be by my side."
Gaby rubbed Sophie Sullivan’s leg and howled, angrily asserting her presence.
Lucifer glanced down at Gaby, a light smile playing on his lips. "Gaby and I are both your guardians."
Gaby proudly rubbed her head against their legs, then leisurely jumped onto the sofa, resting her head on her front paws, quietly watching them.
「A fine dining restaurant in the Imperial City.」
Sophie Sullivan accompanied Lucifer for dinner. He was leaving tomorrow, so this meal was in his honor.
"Who is that?"
Far away, behind a screen, Lillian Spencer looked towards Sophie Sullivan and Lucifer.
Her eyes settled on Lucifer’s face. The more she looked, the more familiar he seemed. She had once accompanied His Excellency Mr. President on a visit to Country F, where the royal family of Country F was present. Lucifer’s face looked familiar to her... but she couldn’t recall it at the moment.
"Miss, let’s investigate."
Lillian Spencer nodded slightly. It seemed that Sophie Sullivan was not as simple as she appeared. She couldn’t help but think of her own Junior Sister; perhaps they were connected in countless ways. If that were the case, things would be even more interesting.
「Inside the manor.」
In the spacious restaurant, only Thomas Shannon and Edward Benson were dining together.
Halfway through dinner, Edward Benson had already finished a bottle of red wine.
He propped his head on one hand and held a goblet in the other, a little tipsy as he swirled the red wine. "Thomas, sometimes I really envy you..."
Thomas Shannon raised an eyebrow. Envy? What was there to envy about him? Sophie Sullivan was as hard to tame as a wild horse. Look at her, going out to dinner with Lucifer without even a word to him. She hadn’t asked for his opinion at all, much less cared if he agreed or if he would be angry!
"Bay King, you’re drunk."
Edward Benson laughed softly, half-closing his eyelids. "It’s good to be drunk... then I can sleep soundly."
Seeing him so hurt by love, Thomas Shannon couldn’t bear to watch. "Don’t worry, as long as she’s alive, she’ll be found one day."
"I hope so... I hope I can find her in my lifetime."
The phrase "in my lifetime" revealed endless sorrow and pain.
Edward Benson was really drunk, sprawled on the dining table, mumbling nonsense.
Thomas Shannon called Charlie River to help Edward Benson upstairs. Once Edward Benson was settled, Thomas Shannon returned downstairs.
Gaby wasn’t around, so Harry had become lively. Thomas Shannon scooped him into his arms and sat on the sofa, his face grim as he waited for Sophie Sullivan.
Time passed, every minute, every second.
The hour hand pointed to 11:00.
Thomas Shannon’s face grew increasingly dark. Harry sensed his master’s mood change and became more subdued. It cowered into a ball, nestled in Thomas Shannon’s embrace, occasionally lifting its head to glance at him.
12 o’clock.
Sophie Sullivan finally returned. She carried a faint scent of alcohol; her face was flushed, and her eyes were misty.
"Thomas Shannon, you haven’t slept yet?"
Sophie Sullivan smiled and walked unsteadily towards him.
