Avery checked the balance on the new account he recently opened and watched as the number rose from zero to eighty million in an instant.

A smile formed on his face, and he held out his terminal and showed it to the rest of his team so that they could see.

"Looks like the idiot actually paid up. We're eighty million Krenin richer now." Avery said, his tone giddy.

"I'm still not sure if I like this, but since that man is a horrid criminal, I suppose I won't say anymore."

Jasmine was the only one that had argued against extorting Iniquus, while the others were more than happy to drain money from the person that had orchestrated several events that threatened their lives.

Well, there was one other person that had been less than thrilled, but that was less to do with any ethical dilemma and more because of the role he had been forced to play.

"Couldn't you have made the binding a little looser. And why did I have to be gagged. I thought I was going to suffocate because I could hardly breath." Grito complained while Kaiden untied him.

To sell the illusion that they were betraying him, Avery and his crew had needed to restrain their little Baccigan friend. Of course, the gag had probably been unnecessary, but it was just extra insurance to make sure Grtio did not say anything that would give them away.

"Hey, just think of it as a necessary inconvenience to save your uncle. The only way we could get onto the station is if we were invited there. Sneaking on would be difficult, and attacking the place would only get us branded as criminals. This was the best way."

To further pacify Grito, Avery gave him some expensive snacks and told him that he could thoroughly examine the Dauntless later as long as he did not damage anything.

"Now, once you're done eating that, you'll need to get to work. If you don't finish making that item before its time for us to deliver you to Iniquus, we won't be able to proceed." Avery said.

"I know. I already have a good idea on how to construct it. But I'll need to use the implant and take apart some equipment in your medical bay for parts. Are you certain that is fine?"

Avery nodded his head and gave his affirmation. The item Grtio was going to make would be integral towards their success.

Once Grtio, along with Kaiden acting as his chaperone left the cockpit, Avery continued to discuss and refine his strategy with Kasandra, Jasmine, and Ezra.

"You know that you don't have to be the one to take on the most dangerous role. Ezra, Kaiden, or I could do it as well." Kasandra said, her face fret with worry.

It had not been long since Avery had nearly died jumping from Kaiden's ship over to the Dauntless during the middle of an intense space battle.

They had talked to him about it and addressed his problem of always putting the greatest risks on himself. Yet once again, he was volunteering himself for the most dangerous role.

"I understand where your concern is coming from, but it has to be me. As the leader of this group, I negotiated the deal and already agreed to be the one to bring Grtio over. Plus, they'll probably underestimate me the most. My time as a mercenary hasn't been particularly lengthy. I'm sure that they've looked into me by now. They'll just think that I'm some lucky kid that got his hands on a powerful ship and can't do anything without it. I can tell that Iniquus is the kind of man that thinks he is superior and looks down on others."

As much as Kasandra did not like it on an emotional level, she knew that what Avery was saying made sense. Also, this mission might have been dangerous, but it was nothing compared to a perilous jump between ships in the vacuum of space while ships were shooting lasers at each other.

"It true that the plan is well thought out and likely to work. Still, it is unclear what can happen in the heat of battle. So, just in case, I want you to take this." Ezra said, pulling out his hardlight shield emitter and handing it over to Avery.

"Are you sure? Your role in this isn't going to be free of danger."

Avery was understandably confused and concerned about why Ezra was giving him something so important.

"It's not a big deal. I still have a personal shield generator on me and I don't intend on fighting defensively. We're going to be up against the clock, so I'll break through whatever gets in my way."

The confident smile on Ezra's face extinguished the last bit of worry Avery had, and he happily accepted the extra tool he could use if things became dire.

Fortunately, this exchange did help to assuage some of Kasandra's concerns and the four of them got back to business.

Around two more hours passed before a transmission from Iniquus' aide came through. They were now ready to receive Grtio.

"Guess it's time. Let's get ready to go."

With all their preparations completed, and a solid plan set, Avery sent a request to disembark the station.

His usually full cockpit was not devoid of anyone other than Grtio. Neither Kasandra nor Jasmine were in their usual seats. As per their agreement, only Avery was allowed to accompany Grtio and could be the only other life sign onboard the ship.

Of course, that did not mean he was going without any back up.

Ezra and Kaiden's vessels followed right behind him. Ready to unleash the full force of their weapons on Iniquus' orbital station if things went awry. Though hopefully such drastic measures would not be needed.

"I get that you're worried but try to keep your composure. It won't be too much longer now. I promise that we're going to free your uncle." Avery said as he watched Grtio fidgeting in the chair next to him.

Fortunately, the young Baccigan was able to calm down a bit by the time they had docked. He had his own role to play in this rescue, and his first job was to be bound again and pretend to be a defeated prisoner.
