Peace Order-Chapter 1583 - 25: Returning to Jiangnan and Gaining Treasure
Li Guanyi had the weapons and armor first taken to Murong Longtu for a look.
Although Murong Longtu was renowned across the land for his swordsmanship, and had made a great name for himself, he was also born into the Murong Family, the best weapon craftsmen in the world, with discerning eyes far superior to most.
Regarding the weapons and armor in the Overlord’s Armory, the old man’s evaluation consisted of two words.
"Waste."
Murong Longtu tapped his fingers on the armor covered by oilcloth, listening to the crisp sound that echoed, and remarked:
"As for the weapons, they’re fine, long spears and sharp swords have remained largely unchanged through the ages."
"Sometimes, even a stick can kill a man."
"But the style of this armor is somewhat too ancient."
"With such fine materials, if they were forged into mountain pattern armor or Ming Guang Armor, the effectiveness would be much greater than these armors."
"Moreover, with the array patterns of the Yin Yang Family and the Mo School’s mechanisms, the weight could be reduced by a third while increasing defense capability by a third, and it could also incorporate mechanical techniques and mechanical crossbows."
Li Guanyi nodded continuously.
"If they were reforged, how long would it take, Grandpa?"
Murong Longtu stroked his beard and said, "These materials can be reforged into the most advanced armor of the era, but it’s no simple task, even if all your craftsmen set to work, it might take ten months to a year."
Li Guanyi breathed a sigh of relief, and laughed lightly, "That time is enough."
"With the lands resting and recuperating, military affairs being amended, eventually there will be peace, allowing you, Grandpa, to have these weapons and armors forged."
He laughed as he spoke, as if completely disregarding the fact that Murong Longtu had only about half a year of life left. Murong Longtu watched Li Guanyi, smiled and nodded, saying, "Alright, handing this to someone else would leave me uneasy."
"Give it to me for peace of mind."
Li Guanyi smiled and nodded, spending days fishing with Murong Longtu and playing the qin with Murong Qiushui, living a few days in peace. After Yan Daiqing had completed checking the inventory of the various generals, substantial changes arose within the Heavenly Strategy Mansion —
With Yue Pengwu personally stationed in the rear, the originally loosely structured Yue Family Army immediately formed into a fully organized grand regiment.
As one of the top ten Divine Generals in the world, such presence was sufficient to steady any power.
The existence of Yue Pengwu meant Li Guanyi could free his hands.
This meant the Heavenly Strategy Mansion, where Prince Qin resided, was no longer centered solely around Li Guanyi, not as it was before, losing its capacity to attack and defend when Li Guanyi was absent.
It had become a dual-core strategy centered around Prince Qin Li Guanyi and Yue Pengwu.
The strategies that could be employed had greatly increased.
In a disadvantaged position, the dual hold strategy would be used; in normal balance, one would attack and one would defend; in the best state, both would launch a strong attack.
However, General Yue’s return also signified the resumption of the suspended strategies at the Heavenly Strategy Mansion: on one hand, the alliance strategy between Li Guanyi and the city of Xiyi; on the other, the deployment of elite cavalry through the mountain path taken by the Qilin Army to reach the Red Dragon’s secret realm.
Waiting for the opportune moment, the strategy to attack Chen Country.
The surging world trends quietly shifted at this moment.
Yet, regardless of stratagems, grand moves, strategists’ calmness, or military generals’ fervor.
In Yan Daiqing’s eyes, all of this boiled down to one word —
[Money]!!!
Mr. Yan Daiqing’s stomach pain began flaring up frequently again recently.
When Li Guanyi visited, the gentleman with gentle mannerisms, sporting a pair of dark circles and empty eyes with an underlying hunger for money, greeted Li Guanyi with a mere faint smile:
"Is that not the Lord himself?"
"Are you here to spend money again?"
Li Guanyi remained unflustered: "Hahaha, listen to you, Daiqing, am I the type who only comes personally when there’s money to spend!"
Yan Daiqing regarded Li Guanyi wistfully: "Of course you are."
"The Lord most adept at spending money in the world, what might you need this time?"
Li Guanyi coughed, took a seat, sipped tea, and leisurely fished around in his pocket, pulling out a letter which he slapped onto the table, then leaned back, holding his teacup serenely.
Cheery and composed, he exuded self-assurance!
Yan Daiqing asked, "What is this..."
"Hmm?!?!"
Seeing the document, he exclaimed in shock, "One million eight hundred thousand silver taels?! Lord, has the second batch of money from Chen Dingye arrived?!"
Li Guanyi replied: "... No."
Yan Daiqing puzzled, "Oh, did General Nangong Wumeng get lost again?"
Li Guanyi’s forehead twitched: "Also, no."
Yan Daiqing astonished, "Did Wen He eliminate a clan?"
The Prince Qin heavily slammed the table, dissatisfied, "Can it not just be that I collected this myself? In your eyes, what exactly am I?! Can I not have a bit of fortune myself?!"
Yan Daiqing sized up Li Guanyi from top to bottom.
Speaking truthfully for the sake of the silver, he said earnestly: "It was my faux pas just now."
"The Lord’s fortune is unmatched in the world."
Though genuinely complimentary, Li Guanyi inexplicably sensed a hint of sarcasm.
Yan Daiqing then tallied the amount of silver.
Feeling refreshed!
Casually inquiring: "But with so much gold and silver, where did you come across it?"
The wise and valiant Prince Qin thought of the babbling little princess, and the tiny red handprint pressed on the record labeled [I willingly hand over my birthday gifts and New Year’s money to my godfather for safekeeping].
Without a change in expression: "Naturally, I have a wonderful plan."
"Don’t worry, Daiqing."
Yan Daiqing counted the funds and couldn’t help but admire, "What a fortunate event, I never expected the Lord’s fortune to be this magnificent; if it could happen a few more times, that would be even better."
A few more times?
That would hardly be desirable.
Li Guanyi could only sit there sipping tea by himself, and at that moment, he recalled the things unearthed from the secret treasure of past Red Emperors during a previous drinking session — although the secret treasure was more a collection of various artworks and artifacts sent as gifts.
Valuable, indeed valuable.
But amidst the chaos of the world, these antiques were not as reliable as plain silver.
However, this box was worn and tattered, its use unknown.
Probably not worth much.
Li Guanyi glanced over to see Nangong Wumeng, who pretended to stroll nonchalantly, coughed and said:
"You’re back, I heard from Brother Yue Qianfeng that they were thrilled to drink, discovering that the renowned Yue Pengwu was here too."
Li Guanyi smiled, "I’ve been back several days already."
Nangong Wumeng, defeated.
Momentarily at a loss for words, she hummed and hawed for a while, unsure of what to say, she deflected, "Really, is that so? Perhaps I was outside then and didn’t hear of your return."
"Anyway, there are many matters sweeping the land now."
"I don’t have so much time to mind whether you’re back or not."
Nangong Wumeng’s voice grew lower, blushing in the end.
Yet, resolute in resisting the urge to cover her face and flee, trying to maintain her composure, she said, "Hmm? What’s this?"
"A box? It looks thoroughly like a box!"
Li Guanyi replied: "What else could it be?"
Nangong Wumeng, once again at a loss for words, stammered after a pause:
"Ha, haha, at a glance, this box looks... looks worthless!"
"Open it."
"Open it!"
Her face flushed, her mind blank, just thinking of doing something to "escape" from there, she pressed her fingers onto the box.
Nangong Wumeng opened the box herself.
A radiant gleam shot skyward!
