Player Awakening: I Become A Lord In Game-Like World-Chapter 45: Caleb vs Monster Horde
With the production of the First Bowman having started, adjusted to the time the monster chaos event started. So, it was certain that the production of the unit would be completed a few minutes after the chaos event began.
Caleb opened the game map, looking at Liliana and Jennie’s two towns. For Jennie, she had built an Archery Camp and was starting the production of archer units, in contrast to Liliana who was still under construction.
Even so, Liliana was not out of ideas. She had a way to solve this problem, by creating a large militia unit.
That could be one effective way to fend off monster attacks. However, the militia couldn’t attack monsters like archers. Liliana only needed to attack directly outside or wait for the city walls to be breached.
’The Monster Chaos Event is not certain to happen to Liliana, but the situation in Liliana’s town is enough to worry me,’ Caleb explained.
Now, Liliana was betting entirely on luck. If the event did not target her, then Liliana could breathe easy and relax. However, if they targeted her, Caleb needed to do something to help her.
During the preparation period before the monster chaos event started, Liliana used the best time she had to prepare her army, as did Jennie.
However, Caleb was already fully prepared. He had dozens of troop units ready to fight if the monsters came to attack him.
Time passed and Caleb continued to prepare. He looked over, seeing black clouds appearing as the monster chaos event time was about to begin in about two hours.
William and Leonidas looked up, they sensed that there was a great danger lurking around them. However, they couldn’t be sure what danger was haunting them at the moment.
"Did something happen, sir?" asked Leonidas, stepping closer to Caleb.
"A Monster Chaos Event is about to occur, where hordes of monsters will come to attack one of the player cities," Caleb explained, informing the two commanders.
"Monsters? So, will our town be invaded by monsters?" asked William, being the most excited.
"I don’t know. Only the system knows who the target of this event is," said Caleb.
"I hope they target us. I can’t wait to slash the bodies of those damn monsters," said William, full of enthusiasm.
"We have to defend the front line. You must send me there to repel the monsters’ invasion," said Leonidas.
Caleb stretched both hands forward, asking his two commanders to calm down and not think that his city would be attacked.
"I’ve prepared a plan if our city is attacked. You don’t need to do anything, just listen to my orders," Caleb explained.
Leonidas and William looked at each other briefly, then both responded by nodding slowly. They understood what Caleb was saying, but they still wanted to do something to help defend the city.
Caleb turned his head. He could feel relieved to see one Militia unit after another successfully formed by Liliana. From what he could see, the number of Liliana’s army units reached 29 and counting.
"Looks like I responded too much to that woman," Caleb said.
In the other direction, Jennie seemed much more prepared than Liliana. Caleb could see the number of her archer units multiplying and standing by on top of the city wall. Not only that, but she also seemed to have 25 infantry units in the center of the city.
"Jennie is fully prepared. Well, it looks like we are indeed prepared for this monster chaos event."
Two hours passed, black clouds began to drop heavy rain accompanied by lightning strikes. A system announcement panel appeared, notifying all players that the Monster Chaos Event had begun.
[Monster Chaos Event begins]
[System selects event target]
[1%]
[50%]
[100%]
[Target has been selected]
[Target: Caleb]
[Monster Chaos Event Duration:]
[00:05:59:59]
’Damn! I was thinking of Liliana and Jennie when I was the target of this event,’ Caleb said, a little shocked.
[Alliance Chat]
[Liliana_P] [Caleb. Can you handle it?]
[Jack_Hunter] [Let us help you]
The Alliance Chat page appeared in front of Caleb. Caleb had expected it, Liliana and Jennie informed him because they already knew who the target was in this Monster Chaos event.
There was a slight relief in their hearts that they hadn’t been selected, but they felt sad to see their alliance leader being targeted.
Caleb replied to their message on the Alliance Chat page, trying to calm them down.
[Caleb] [Don’t worry. I have experience handling Monster Chaos events. You don’t need to worry about me]
[Jack_Hunter] [Alright. For a CL_Ellise, it should be easy for you to handle them, right?"]
Liliana gasped. Her eyes were still glued to the alliance chat page panel. She read the message from Jack_Hunter who was none other than Jennie, where she said that Caleb was CL_Ellise.
’What does that mean? Isn’t there a CL_Ellise in this place? Why is she saying that Caleb is CL_Ellise?’ Liliana asked, confused.
She did not reply to the message again. Caleb closed the chat alliance page panel, then walked to the roof of the city wall next to Arash the Archer. The commander was ready, with 15 First Bowman units following his orders.
"I can see the presence of monsters from beyond the forest," Arash explained.
"There’s probably a lot of them, they won’t stop attacking before the event duration runs out," said Caleb.
"At least, what should I do?" asked Arash.
"Attack them and don’t let them near the city walls!" said Caleb.
Arash nodded. He ordered his First Bowman unit to prepare. Caleb opened the game map and suppressed Arash the Archer’s entire army.
[ENFORCEMENT INFO]
[Commander: Arash The Archer (A Class)]
[Units:]
[15 First Bowman Units]
[Def Stance -> Agg Stance]
The stance changed, making Arash and the others immediately release their arrows into the sky to stop the invasion of the monster horde. Caleb pressed the monster icons that appeared before him, looking at their details.
There were a total of 50 monster units divided into 10 monster hordes. Of the 10 monster hordes, one of them was level 3, four monster hordes were level 2, and five monster hordes were level 1.
"Only level three being the highest level. I can handle it with my army," Caleb explained.
[Battle Status Monster]
[Kills: 4] [+4]
[Unit Die: 0] [0]
From the battle status monster panel, Caleb got 4 unit kills from the attacking monsters. They died from the arrows of the First Bowman.
Even so, Caleb realized the power of the First Bowman alone would not be enough to stem the horde of monsters. He needed to rely on Leonidas’ infantry unit and William’s cavalry unit.
[DING! Congratulations, you have produced a troop unit]
[Unit Name: First Bowman]
[Quantity: 20]
[Kingdom Power: 28175] [+3000]
A notification panel appeared, telling Caleb that the First Bowman troop unit had been created. Caleb turned his head.
He immediately ordered the 20 First Bowman units to go to the east and west gates, as Caleb saw that the monster horde’s attack was starting to split and spread.
"They’re trying to break through to the other gate," Caleb replied.
"Are you going to do anything?" asked William, distracting Caleb.
"They’re trying to break through the west and east gates. Go and hold the monsters at the west gate," Caleb explained.
"I understand."
William rode with his 22 units of troops away from the city center, to hold off the horde of monsters attacking the west gate. On the other hand, Caleb ordered Leonidas to leave.
He ordered Leonidas to attack the monsters at the east gate, just to hold them back and not to kill them. They would get reinforcements from William and Arash.
"I understand," said Leonidas.
Leonidas and William left through the north gate, where from the gate, the two would advance in different directions to withstand the monsters’ attacks.
Caleb looked ahead, clearly seeing that the concentration of the monster horde to the south of the city had split and faded. Caleb guessed that they were being directed to attack through another gate.
"Arash!" said Caleb.
"Your orders, sir?" asked Arash.
"Divide your troops in two, place them on the west wall and the east wall," Caleb explained.
Arash looked at the two gates, then nodded in understanding of Caleb’s instructions. 17 First Bowman units went to the west gate, assisting William’s army units. The other 17 units went to the east to assist Leonidas.
[Battle Status Monster]
[Kills: 24] [+20]
[Unit Die: 15] [+15]
As seen, Caleb’s army units started to get injured and die, the number reached 15 since the first battle. Caleb couldn’t let this happen, he produced another Heavy Scout with 20.
To the east, Arash’s units continued to attack by releasing their arrows. What happened in the west was the same, helping William defeat the monsters.
The event duration still had three hours left, but half of the monster units had been defeated. Caleb looked at his 85 units of troops, enough to hold off the monsters.
"I expected it. This Monster Chaos event is easier, that’s because my town hall is still level 4," Caleb explained.
He descended from the top of the city wall and walked into the town hall, standing guard there while looking at the game map. Through the map, Caleb could clearly monitor the monsters’ movements.
"Three more hours, but the monsters are starting to get killed off," Caleb replied.
"What should I do next?"
