Players Invade Cyberpunk-Chapter 917 - 296: Weapons Development_3
As for that bit of ICE, it’s no different from paper in front of him.
"No more talking."
Mitch finished his cigarette in just a couple of puffs.
"The Chimera components you snatched from Hansen saved me quite a bit of trouble. You can’t buy these things on the black market. It shouldn’t be long before this thing can move again, but plasma weapons are definitely a no-go. That’s a bit beyond my ability, but the space freed up can be used to mount the 120mm howitzer you took from the Chaotic Blade Association."
"Impressive, hmm, leaving you in Adcardo really undervalues your talent."
"Let’s drop it."
Mitch and Lin Miao have known each other for half a year, and Mitch knows this guy is always looking to recruit him away from Adcardo.
"I honed my skills in the tribe, used to living in poverty where there aren’t many good things. Everything is patched up for another year, save when you can, and if the engine doesn’t explode midway, it’s like a blessing. Don’t come asking me for compensation if it does." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Even though both sides have a good relationship now, Mitch can’t leave his family in the tribe to work for Lin Miao; just taking some outsourced jobs is fine.
"Your people are the truly skilled ones. It won’t be long before they catch up with me, and it’ll be tough to make money from you."
Mitch’s vehicle repair skills are at most Level 3 to Level 4; it’s only a matter of time before the logistics department players surpass him. However, Lin Miao isn’t that opportunistic; future collaboration with Adcardo is inevitable.
"What about those tanks? I went to great lengths to dismantle them into parts and get them out of Dog Town; will they run?"
"Those aren’t tanks, just armored vehicles. Real tanks are much nastier than these. Let the juniors practice assembling them; they’ll learn in a couple of weeks."
Mitch refers to a few Demon Lizards Lin Miao got from the Netherworld Dog’s warehouse. These things were used as armored vehicles during the Unified War period and are now retired.
"That’s not my concern; you must get them fixed. Pan’an said she wanted to take them out for a spin; once they’re fixed, I’ll lend them to her for racing. If they leave an extra part outside, I’ll have a problem with you."
Lin Miao didn’t grow up in the cyber world; Demon Lizard Tanks, which can float and drive over any terrain, seem even more exaggerated to him than the Chimera.
Other than the fire-blasting turbo propulsion engine at the back that Lin Miao understands, the anti-gravity engine is beyond sci-fi.
This isn’t a hovercar that relies on jet engines to fly mid-air; it’s serious black tech allowing it to float tons of weight with nothing underneath.
Rumor has it hover ships use this to carry hundreds of thousands of tons while flying.
No idea how the brains behind such a technology were wired, like cybernetic implants, it’s technology not suited for this era, simply outrageous.
If he figures this out, it’s far bigger than a few guns and vehicles; he’d even consider having the backbone to form aerospace units.
That’s why his interest in Demon Lizard Tanks far surpasses Great Mount Pill, leaving Mitch perplexed.
Additionally, Mitch detected a hint of urgency in Lin Miao’s words, like preparing for war, with a high demand for weaponry.
Visible World Corporation just took down Hansen’s Dog Town, wiping out over half the gangs in Night City. Such a feat is something Mitch and the others never dared imagine, what could make Lin Miao so anxious?
He’s somewhat incredulous.
"Are you starting another fight?"
Geez, can’t this bunch calm down for a bit?
Also, what’s still in Night City worth fighting over?
Huangban Tower?
If it were anyone else, Mitch wouldn’t believe it, but given the players’ style, hearing that Visible World Corporation blew up Huangban Tower wouldn’t surprise him.
Because these people can pull off the most ludicrous acts.
Lin Miao doesn’t plan to hide from Adcardo, since it’s not a big deal.
"I had a batch of goods intercepted and stolen off a train while passing through Missouri, and the Military Technology armed forces couldn’t stop them."
"Uh...Tough luck, I guess."
There’s nothing Mitch can do about it; Sol’s Adcardo tribe can’t reach as far as Missouri, and those who dare rob trains generally don’t care about Adcardo.
But Mitch knows more is that neither Visible World Corporation nor its mercenaries are ones to be trifled with.
If you dare bite them, they’ll give you hell.
"How are you planning to resolve this? You’re not seriously considering driving tanks to Missouri, right?"
"More or less, I need to discuss the matter with you Adcardo folks; you guys travel across the entire United States, definitely more knowledgeable about this than my people. I can’t trust those big company reps."
Wanderers have their rules; the Adcardo tribe’s footprints are all over the United States, even if Sol hasn’t been there, there would be information channels at least.
Where’s safe to go and where isn’t, which territories worship which hilltops, power divisions, plus water sources, arable land areas...
Getting Adcardo’s help clearly beats Military Technology.
"I plan to expand business to armed mercenary services, take on others’ contracts for transporting supplies, and simultaneously explore market opportunities in other cities to extend the business."
Mitch picked up his tools to correct the already modified Great Mount Pill, deviating from its original form.
"You’d better talk to Sol about that, he’s more in the know on these matters; I’m just a car mechanic."
"Isn’t this just picking your brain on that matter last time?"
Lin Miao remembers Sol recently went out with Pan’an to find Adcardo’s main forces to bring clean water technology back for the tribe, aiming to establish several large water purification stations like in Big Sur for drinking and farming.
No idea how that’s going.
"You mean that? It’s tricky, people still don’t know you well. Many think Sol was bought off by you, distrust Visible World Corporation; changing their views is going to be a hassle. Sol’s been busy with it daily, Pan’an almost fought those families several times."
"Human effort changes things, Sol has a sincere heart, will surely move those stone-hearted ones."
