Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You-Chapter 440: Heard Isla Lawson Sold Off Overseas Assets
Was the force or people who besieged my father hiding among them?
Is this an attempt from them to test us?
And the Zink Family, are they involved, or are they just being used as a pawn in this test?
Mr. Lloyd must know something, but he has always avoided talking about it. Despite just being discharged from the hospital not long ago, with a frail body, he attended the gathering this time. But why?
Could it truly be because he didn’t want to miss the opportunity for everyone to congregate?
But it’s not as if this is the only time; it’s not the last chance.
Everything in front of us seems shrouded in mist.
The clouds hang low, bringing immense pressure.
Serena couldn’t see the people hiding behind.
She reached out and grasped the Blue Diamond Necklace around her neck.
Father.
You must be watching too.
...
Time passed slowly.
Three days.
Three days later, Brandon suddenly returned home urgently.
There’s trouble at Aether.
All kinds of inexplicable blockages suddenly appeared.
Many things that were initially permissible now turned out to be non-compliant.
If not handled properly, they may face shutdown or even more severe punishment.
Serena was waiting for Brandon in the airport parking lot.
On her phone, messages continuously refreshed.
Jasper Ford: Dammit, who the hell is messing with my project! If I find out, I’ll hit him with an Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms!
Emeric Grant: Brandon is on the plane now, things are chaotic at Aether. I can barely keep it together, but some employees have already gotten wind of it and are reaching out to the outside for their next job.
Silas Hawthorne: Emeric, I’ll send people over to stabilize the personnel on Aether’s side. Later, you coordinate with June.
Emeric Grant: Okay, I’m indeed not good at these things.
Silas Hawthorne: Serena, Jasper and I are now taking people to handle matters on another level at Aether. When you pick up Brandon, head back to Aether immediately.
Serena immediately clicked the screen and replied to the message.
Serena: Okay, I’m already at the airport now.
After replying, Serena switched to another dialogue box.
Above was a message from Bianca Lynch.
"Serena, just heard that Julian Lawson left for a business trip due to a sudden incident two days ago, so he’s not in Aeston, and Old Master Lawson is temporarily in charge of The Lawson Corporation."
Old Master Lawson... 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Serena pondered.
According to Clara Huxley, Old Master Lawson was sick and didn’t attend the party.
It’s only been a few days; the old man wouldn’t recover that quickly, even if he’s better, he’d need a few days to rest.
So, who’s currently managing The Lawson Corporation?
The parking lot was quiet, only occasionally disturbed by cars stopping and moving.
After a while.
"Knock knock!"
Someone tapped on the car window.
Serena looked and saw it was Brandon, looking anxious.
Serena immediately opened the trunk, letting Brandon put his luggage in.
After a while, Brandon opened the rear car door and got in.
"To Aether," Serena told the driver and bodyguard.
The driver immediately started the car.
As soon as the partition went down, Brandon started a barrage of questions.
Serena patted Brandon’s shoulder and said, "Jasper and Silas have already gone to see what the situation is above. Trust them; they’ll handle it."
"Over at Aether, June has also joined Emeric to keep things stable, don’t worry."
Brandon then relaxed a little, but was still anxious.
The car steadily hit the road, when suddenly, Brandon’s phone rang.
He frustratedly pulled out his phone and then looked a bit peculiar.
"What’s wrong?" Serena asked.
"It’s Isla Lawson," Brandon said strangely.
Serena nodded, gesturing for Brandon to answer.
Brandon touched the answer key, then pressed speakerphone.
"What’s up?" Brandon asked.
"It’s Isla Lawson, I’d like to meet with you," Isla Lawson started, "Talk about Aether Group’s matter."
Brandon felt annoyed at the thought, he said, "Miss Lawson, I’m quite busy right now, sorry I can’t meet with you."
"You must be busy with Aether’s matter," Isla Lawson’s slightly teasing voice came through, "Meet with me, what I want to discuss is about Aether too."
Brandon suddenly looked at Serena.
Serena was watching Brandon’s phone screen.
Noticing Brandon’s gaze, Serena nodded and took out her phone, typing a string of words – "See you at Aether."
Brandon nodded and immediately said, "I just got off the plane, heading to the company. If Miss Lawson wants to meet and talk, then wait for me at Aether."
"Alright," Isla Lawson’s satisfied voice followed.
Then came the beeping sound of the call being disconnected.
The car drove into a tunnel, yellow lights flickering from both sides.
Serena looked at Brandon.
"Serena, do you think..."
"Brandon, this time, it might be me causing you trouble," Serena said apologetically.
Brandon was a smart guy, he quickly figured it out.
He glanced at Isla Lawson’s name on his phone, and sneered coldly.
"I never thought that the famous Miss Lawson would be so petty and unscrupulous!"
Brandon withdrew his phone, saying, "Let her come then, I refuse to believe she can hide the sky with one hand!"
The car sped along, quickly exiting the tunnel.
A bright view unfolded ahead.
Serena looked out of the car window.
Isla Lawson, Miss Lawson?
Did she do it herself, or did Julian Lawson condone it?
Serena recalled last meeting Julian Lawson at the cemetery.
Julian Lawson’s unwilling voice still echoed in her ears.
Did he convey the warning she gave him to Isla Lawson?
Was he involved in this?
Serena didn’t know.
She tightened her grip on her phone.
The car arrived downstairs at Aether.
Serena advised Brandon to go freshen up while she waited here.
Brandon had just gotten off the plane, indeed needing some time to sort himself, so he went upstairs without fuss.
Serena stayed here to wait.
Sitting calmly in the back seat, this was the place every car must pass through the parking entrance, she watched the front peacefully.
Soon, she saw Isla Lawson’s car approaching.
The window was open, Isla Lawson was in the driver’s seat, her face full of happiness, wearing a Bluetooth headset, talking to someone without knowing who.
Inside Isla Lawson’s car, Vernon Gates was the one talking to her.
She parked the car steadily.
"Rest assured, I will close the deal, I promised you," Isla Lawson said, smile tugging at her lips, her voice, however, was calm.
She acted quickly, the matter of Aether hadn’t spread yet.
Until now, Vernon Gates still believed her intention was to negotiate a double offer.
Isla Lawson didn’t want to reveal more, so she promptly hung up.
The car parked steadily.
Isla Lawson felt things were going too smoothly, even the heavens were aiding her.
She closed the car door, humming a tune as she walked toward Aether.
Meanwhile, on the other end, Vernon Gates was gazing at his phone, puzzled by the message it received after hanging up the call.
[Heard Isla Lawson sold off many overseas assets, don’t know what happened.]
