Chapter 459: Chapter 459: An Uninvited Guest at the Engagement Party

It’s Julian Lawson.

He saw the invitation.

But he knew that the invitation was not sent to him by Serena Sterling and Silas Hawthorne.

The venue was outdoors.

Therefore, he had to find a high spot nearby in advance.

He looked over there with a binocular.

The whole process was seen through his eyes.

She was truly dazzlingly beautiful.

But his heart ached intensely.

It was just an engagement.

He could only comfort himself like this.

It was just a small party held by mutual acquaintances, not publicized.

People outside didn’t know about this engagement party.

So, they hadn’t officially announced it.

This was not a wedding.

But Julian Lawson still felt very sad.

His heart felt like it was being cut with a knife.

He simply wanted to rush over there and tear up the engagement contract she signed with Silas Hawthorne, rip the ring off her finger and crush it!

Smash the cake, shatter the glass!

...

Below, Serena was chatting with everyone.

They were talking about Justin Jennings’ new business venture.

"How’s it going recently?" Serena asked, "This concerns your and Bianca’s happiness. If you’re not serious, I won’t let you off first."

"Don’t worry." Justin Jennings nodded, seemingly thinking of something, and added, "It’s going more smoothly than I imagined."

Jasper Ford, sitting on one side, became interested: "How so?"

"Not long after starting the company, I received an order." Justin Jennings mentioned, taking a sip of champagne, "My previous company couldn’t bear to see me leave, and knowing that I started my own business, they signed a cooperation contract with me. That’s two contracts already."

"The team has expanded, I’ve got some people under me, and we’ve recently discovered some talent. Although the company isn’t big, it’s running quite well overall."

Brandon Huxley nodded, as he was also an entrepreneur, he understood the complexities involved.

"What is your main focus, Jennings?" Brandon Huxley asked.

Justin Jennings explained the details.

Then they continued chatting.

Bianca Lynch rolled her eyes at Justin Jennings and pinched him.

"Today’s Serena’s engagement party, why are you talking about all this nonsense? Really inconsiderate!"

Justin Jennings finally realized and scratched his head, apologizing.

"I was the one who asked first." Serena couldn’t help but laugh.

She looked at Bianca Lynch, then at Justin Jennings, nodding repeatedly.

Bianca Lynch blushed under Serena’s gaze.

Remembering how she had expressed her concerns to Serena before, she felt a bit embarrassed.

The more she thought about it, the redder she became, so she changed the subject, looking at Jasper Ford and Gigi Sutton.

Bianca Lynch asked, "Jasper, how have you been at the Ford family lately? Have your two brothers been driven to rage?"

"Needless to say," Jasper Ford exaggeratedly replied, "those two idiots give me sour looks whenever they see me, thinking they’re showing me a cold shoulder, but really, no."

Saying this, Jasper waved a finger in the air.

He said, "Seeing their sour faces only makes me happy, hahaha, because they are impotently enraged now!"

Everyone present laughed.

Gigi Sutton added, "Jasper recently became the captain of the Paw Patrol."

"What Paw Patrol?" Serena was a bit confused.

"It’s your doggie reserves," Gigi Sutton said with a chuckle, "Serena, you wouldn’t believe how many people are vying to be your dog now."

Hearing this, Serena glanced at Jasper Ford who was laughing uncontrollably over there.

"Jasper, I’ve said it before, we’re friends, we’re partners, we’re equals, you’re not my dog," Serena said seriously.

She needed to make this clear.

She wanted to maintain a long-lasting friendship with Jasper Ford and didn’t want any misunderstandings over this.

"Just a joke, just a joke," it was Gigi Sutton who spoke up, laughing uncontrollably.

Though initially she found it unpleasant to hear, over time, she started finding it funny.

Orion Hawthorne and June Hawthorne also started talking about the latest gossip.

The crowd burst into laughter.

Silas Hawthorne had booked the entire venue.

It included both outdoor and indoor spaces.

The rare gathering was an opportunity for everyone to catch up on countless topics.

The location had a pool, sports fields, arcade games, beauty and hair machines, and the like, providing enough activities for them to spend the whole day.

Soon, it was evening.

A barbecue stand was set up in the center of the courtyard, and they were enjoying some grilled food.

Just then, someone was steadily approaching.

"Ah!"

Bianca Lynch suddenly turned her head and was startled to see Isla Lawson standing not far away.

Everyone looked over.

Isla Lawson stood there, her gaze piercing through the crowd towards Serena.

Silas Hawthorne held Serena’s hand, frowned, and asked, "How did you get in here?"

Isla Lawson took out the invitation card in her hand.

She had stolen it from Julian Lawson, and used it to get in.

Silas looked at Serena, who shook her head, indicating she hadn’t sent it out.

"I stole it from my brother," Isla said.

"We didn’t send one to Julian," Silas stated.

After much effort getting Julian occupied with something else, why would he specifically invite him over?

"I don’t know, I heard it was seen at the front desk and then sent to my brother," Isla said, showing the invitation, "there’s no recipient written on it."

It was a blank invitation.

Serena recalled one had gone missing earlier.

They hadn’t thought much of it, assuming it was lost during transportation.

But now it ended up with Julian Lawson, which was curious.

Who did it?

Serena and Silas exchanged a glance, and Silas nodded, promptly sending a message to have security review the surveillance footage.

Meanwhile, Serena looked at Isla Lawson.

"What brings you here?" Serena asked.

Isla was in a formal dress, holding a bag.

"I..." Isla paused for a bit and finally spoke, "brought a gift for you."

"Congratulations on your engagement."

June Hawthorne immediately stood up and walked straight towards Isla Lawson.

June hadn’t forgotten what happened a few days ago in the underground parking lot.

They were talking when Isla ran up and slapped Serena.

Although Serena hit back later, today was her engagement party, and no unpleasant incidents were wanted.

"What would you possibly gift to Serena?" June couldn’t find a liking for Isla.

She was well aware of Aether’s previous incident, as she had helped out on the day of the incident.

Brandon Huxley and Emeric Grant remained silent.

They were core members of Aether.

June Hawthorne took the bag from Isla’s hand.

"Should I open it?" June asked Isla.

Isla nodded.

The bag opened to reveal a box, and inside was a brooch.

A very conventional gift.

June thought it looked fine, so she brought it over for Serena to see.

Serena reached out and took a look at the brooch, then glanced at Isla Lawson standing there.
