Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You-Chapter 513: Everyone Knows She Is Silas Hawthorne’s Wife
The little Seraphina in his arms reached out and touched the photo as well.
Her small hand rested next to Silas Hawthorne’s hand.
"Mom..."
...
"Knock knock knock."
After a while, there was a knock on the office door, and then Raine came in.
Silas looked up at her: "Did you relay everything?"
Raine nodded, "Although some people are thinking of leaving, there are still many willing to stay."
"Good." Silas said softly, "Continue with Aeon’s previous projects. If there’s anything unclear, come and ask me."
"Yes!" Raine replied.
"For those willing to stay and work hard, triple the salary," Silas added.
Raine nodded excitedly.
"That’s about it." Silas thought for a moment and said, "If anyone decides to leave after three days, let them go through the approval process directly, no need to try to keep them."
"Understood." Raine responded, then turned and left.
Silas processed the accumulated tasks from the past few days.
Then he called Secretary Sawyer in.
"Prepare to go back to the hospital," Silas said.
Secretary Sawyer came over to push the wheelchair.
Silas felt dizzy in front of his eyes but still reached out for the photo on the desk.
"Bring this potted plant back too," he said, then held Seraphina’s hand.
Secretary Sawyer immediately nodded and found someone to help carry it downstairs.
...
In the hospital.
Julian Lawson sat quietly in a wheelchair, watching Serena Sterling lying behind the glass.
The oxygen mask on her face nearly covered her entire face.
Her body was wrapped in bandages.
Such severe injuries.
When he knew Silas went to Corvale, he knew what the other was doing.
But his legs...
He cursed for not going to Corvale himself.
Julian looked down at his own legs.
The hospital had already arranged a treatment plan for subsequent surgery.
They even invited an overseas medical team, but these legs...
"Beep, beep, beep..."
The surroundings were quiet except for the sound of the machines.
"Serena..." Julian’s eyes were rimmed with red, "Now, even if I want to do something for you, it would be inappropriate."
Just like wanting to come here now, he needed the consent of her husband, Silas.
He had snuck in while Silas was attending to Aeon.
And all of this...
Had originally been his.
The identity of her husband, Seraphina’s father, all that pertained to her, should have been his... he had destroyed it with his own hands.
Footsteps approached.
Finally, someone stood beside him.
Julian looked up to see Samuel Langdon.
"Dad..." Julian called softly.
The middle-aged Samuel did not look at Julian but focused on Serena lying in the bed.
"The things you did, you need to bear the consequences yourself," Samuel said, "She no longer belongs to you."
"But..." Julian’s eyes reddened.
"Now everyone knows she is Silas’s wife, Julian, you must find your place!" Samuel said sternly.
Julian lowered his eyes, his hands clenching tightly.
"You are the heir of the Lawson Family; we are all old now. The Lawson Corporation still relies on you in the future. Do you intend to remain in this state?"
Julian kept his head down, saying nothing.
"Back then, she didn’t like the current you, Julian. Heal your legs, refocus on your career, correct yourself. That’s the you she admired back then."
"Entangling endlessly will only cause her pain."
Samuel’s stern voice continued to resonate, Julian looked over to Serena.
Memories flooded his mind.
As a child, he had envied their family.
In his youth, her long hair flowing, she played "Bird’s Poem" amidst the autumn leaves, wearing a red dress that captured his heart.
He always wanted to be near her.
Even knowing the Sheridan Family’s matters were dangerous and untouchable, he went to her, took her away, and told everyone that he would protect the Sheridan Family’s matters.
And later...
Many things happened between them.
Being together for so many years, they even had two children. How could he easily let go?
But she ultimately became someone else’s wife.
Even though the wedding encountered mishaps, everyone knew the ceremony was complete, and she had pledged a lifetime commitment to another man.
Samuel had left at some point, leaving Julian alone once more.
He lingered there for a long time.
Later, there was a sound.
"Julian Lawson?" It was Orion Hawthorne’s voice.
Julian looked at the reflection in the glass; it was Orion pushing Silas back.
Beside them was Seraphina.
Secretary Sawyer placed the potted plant on a table nearby.
Silas placed a photo frame on the nightstand, then turned to see Julian, who had turned to face him.
Julian’s gaze lingered on the photo frame in Silas’s hands.
After considering, Silas gestured to Orion, indicating he should take Seraphina out first.
Orion understood and walked over to Seraphina.
"Seraphina, tired? Uncle will take you for some treats," Orion said to Seraphina.
Seraphina glanced at the two inside, then nodded and followed him out.
Secretary Sawyer left, closing the door behind.
Now, only Silas and Julian remained.
Neither spoke.
Silas slowly settled back to the bed, looking at Julian on the side.
Julian’s gaze stayed fixed on that photo.
While Silas’s gaze went past Julian, resting on Serena.
The three of them were silent; no words were spoken.
Not a sound.
In the end, no one spoke.
Julian simply controlled the wheelchair and quietly left.
Silas listened to the door closing, his gaze never leaving Serena.
He kept his eyes slightly open, his thoughts unknown.
...
Another three days passed.
Serena’s condition remained relatively stable during these days, although she wasn’t out of life-threatening danger. But there were no more emergencies requiring immediate rescue like before.
Silas’s illness had also been gradually improving.
During these days, he handled many things.
The small issues within the Hawthorne Group were resolved effectively.
He also sorted out the personnel issues at Aeon.
And there was Seraphina’s return to school.
Seraphina had started elementary school.
Silas and Serena had chosen a school within their social circle for her.
Most of the children there were also from prominent families.
It was different from when they chose a kindergarten.
This was also something they had weighed various options for when discussing Seraphina’s education.
Since Seraphina is their heir, she will inevitably face these challenges in the future; hence it’s better to familiarize herself from a young age.
Due to the wedding and Seraphina’s injury, she missed over a week of classes.
Although before and after this absence, Seraphina’s situation was no longer the same as before.
It was uncertain if her school life would also change.
