Chapter 266: Chapter 266- married

In fact, he had wanted to assign her an assistant for a long time but had never found a suitable excuse. Every time he saw her exhausted, his heart ached terribly, but he always compromised with her insistence on handling everything herself. ๐“ฏ๐™ง๐™š๐’†๐™ฌ๐™š๐’ƒ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐’—๐“ฎ๐“ต.๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข

Now that she was pregnant, he couldnโ€™t let her continue being so stubborn. In his opinion, the best thing for her would be to quit her job and stay at home to rest and take care of herself. With her fragile body, it wasnโ€™t healthy for her to be running around every day!

Bonnie didnโ€™t know what to say when he mentioned assigning her an assistant. After a pause, she simply replied with a "Got it" before hanging up. How he always thought of everything for her... She had indeed considered getting herself an assistant when she found out she was pregnant, but she had been too busy to actually search for one.

The little assistant seemed quite bright and capable. Bonnie figured that since it was James who had picked her, her work abilities must be decent. So she smiled and began giving her the simplest tasks to start with.

By the end of the morning, Bonnie realized the assistant had a lot of good qualities, but there was one thing that was driving her crazy: she was a total fangirl, especially when it came to that man. The way she would worship and obsess over him, constantly calling him "Mr. Boston," made Bonnie want to burst.

From what Bonnie observed, she knew the assistantโ€™s admiration was simply a harmless crush on such a high and mighty manโ€”she didnโ€™t actually have any romantic intentions.

Bonnie had also been a fangirl in her younger days, so she understood that mentality, but it still made her feel an unsettling fire in her chest. She didnโ€™t want to take it out on the innocent assistant, so she just kept her feelings to herself.

After all, the assistant didnโ€™t know anything about her relationship with James. If she did, she probably wouldnโ€™t bring him up so casually in front of her.

Around noon, she received a call from him, telling her to send her assistant to his office. Finally, Bonnieโ€™s frustration had an outlet, and she yelled at him in a fury.

"Sandra is a really good girl! Donโ€™t ruin her!"

His voice was full of innocence and helplessness.

"How am I ruining her? I just want to have a conversation with her. Why are you so upset? Youโ€™re pregnant nowโ€”be careful with your temper..."

He rambled on, and Bonnieโ€™s head felt like it was going to explode. She snapped, yelling at him,

"Shut up!"

Sandra, who had just entered the room, was startled by Bonnieโ€™s shout, her body trembling. Bonnie immediately hung up the phone, then turned to Sandra, staring at her without blinking,

"Sandra, Mr. Boston wants you to go to his office."

"Sandra, I need to ask..."

Before, Sandra would have probably been thrilled to hear that Mr. Boston wanted to speak to her, but now, she stared at Bonnie with suspicion, her eyes filled with keen observation.

"Was that call just now from Mr. Boston?"

At that moment, Sandraโ€™s mind was racing, analyzing the situation. With her sharp sense for gossip, she couldnโ€™t help but think there was something more between her boss and the station director. Especially with that angry outburst from Bonnie, and how Bonnie had just answered the directorโ€™s call earlier, snapping "Hello!" without any politeness.

The more she thought about it, the more she became convinced there was something going on between them. The chill running down her spine was undeniable. If she was right, and her boss and the director were indeed involved, then she had spent the entire morning fawning over "Mr. Boston." Oh no! Was she going to get fired on her very first day of work? She moaned internallyโ€”this was all the fault of her gossiping and fangirling...

Bonnie didnโ€™t answer directly, instead saying,

"Go on up."

"Okay..."

Sandra gave her a lingering glance before replying and walking out.

Once her assistant went to his office, Bonnie became restless and distracted. She couldnโ€™t focus on work at all. Several files were messed up, and she zoned out a few times while answering calls. All she could think about was what he and Sandra were doing in his office. She even had the urge to rush upstairs and barge into his office!

Realizing what she was thinking, she shook her head in frustration. She muttered to herself, "Bonnie, what are you doing? He can do whatever he wants. Why are you so bothered? Are you jealous?"

Then she remembered how, whenever he called a new pretty girl into his office, she always felt the same way. Had she been bothered about it all along, even back then?

After agonizing over it for what felt like forever, Sandra finally returned. To Bonnieโ€™s surprise, Sandra wasnโ€™t as excited or thrilled as she had imagined. Instead, her face was full of gloom and fatigue. Bonnie, confused, asked,

"What happened? Did he scold you?"

Sandra slumped over the desk and shook her head,

"No, I wasnโ€™t scolded. But I feel worse than if I had been. Mr. Boston said he was married... Ugh, Iโ€™m so heartbroken..."

Bonnie felt awkward, but Sandra continued to speak sorrowfully,

"Sigh, he also mentioned that heโ€™s been married for four years, and theyโ€™re about to have a baby! Ugh, how could such a perfect man be married? He should have stayed single so we, his admirers, would always have a mental pillar to look up to..."

Sandra was heartbroken, and Bonnie, though both irritated and amused, leaned on her desk and asked with a smile,

"Is that all he told you?"

"Yeah..."

Sandra weakly nodded, then immediately shook her head,

"Wait, no, he also mentioned you!"

Oh, now that she thought about it carefully, Mr. Boston had mostly talked about Bonnie. He had praised her leadership abilities and work skills, even mentioning many of her habits and reminding Sandra to take good care of her.

As Sandra thought about it, she suddenly jumped up from her seat, her hand covering her mouth in shock,

"Bonnie!"

"Whatโ€™s wrong?"

Bonnie was startled by her outburst. Sandraโ€™s eyes widened in fear as she asked,

"Are you... are you the station directorโ€™s wife?"

Bonnie was momentarily stunned. She quickly avoided Sandraโ€™s gaze, then lowered her eyes and walked toward her office, tossing over her shoulder two words,

"No!"
