Pokémon Court-Chapter 210: Traces of a Legend
Chapter 210: Traces of a Legend
In a café in Lilycove City, three men and one woman were sitting together. Terrance looked at the three people opposite him and asked, “Can you tell me the reason now?”
The trio had sought out Terrance at the Pokémon Contest, which made him curious.
He didn’t think he had any connection with these three. The only time he had run into them, there was no interaction. Why were they looking for him? This really puzzled Terrance.
“My name is Ishi… I guess you could say I’m the leader of this Adventure Team,” said the young man with the video camera. “We’re grateful you agreed to talk with us.”
“Don’t worry, let me first introduce the purpose of our Adventure Team. As the name suggests, our main activity is ‘adventure.’ Wherever something strange or dangerous happens, we rush over there and record everything with our equipment. This is our main activity at present.”
“Since our formation, the three of us have explored many places like Granite Cave, Island Cave, the Seafloor Cavern, Ancient Tomb, Wailmer Island, and Banana Slakoth Garden, capturing countless wondrous scenes… The last time we met at sea, we were heading to Mt. Chimney due to that big incident.”
As Terrance quietly listened to their explanation, he couldn’t help but be surprised. These places didn’t sound safe; these people are too gutsy.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t gain much from Mt. Chimney incident, so we went back home early,” Ishi said.
“So, what do you want from me?”
“Terrance, you’re a powerful Trainer, right?” Arvin asked.
“Powerful? Not quite…” Terrance smiled.
The trio’s expressions became serious. “We looked for you because we want to collaborate with you. We’re planning to explore a very dangerous place, and with our current strength, we can’t go there alone. We need help from some strong Trainers.”
Terrance was taken aback. “That’s your goal? Sorry, but I’m not very interested.”
“Don’t be so quick to refuse,” Maki interjected. “I believe you’ll be interested once you hear where we’re going.”
“Go on,” Terrance said.
“Route 111, have you heard of it?” Maki asked. “That’s the official name, but we in Hoenn prefer to call it the Hoenn Desert; it is the largest desert region in Hoenn.”
“I’m familiar with it,” Terrance nodded. The Weather Institute had given him a Smooth Rock from that desert.
“Our goal…” The trio lowered their heads and glanced around. “…is to record the battle videos of a Legendary Pokémon.”
“Legendary Pokémon?!” Terrance was shocked.
“Yes, we’ve found some ancient records in Island Cave and Ancient Tomb. After some research, we’ve deduced that the Legendary Pokémon, Regirock, resides in the Hoenn Desert!”
“Moreover, Registeel and Regice might also be in one of these three places, but there are too few ancient texts handed down, and we can’t decipher too much. We could only understand a bit about the Hoenn Desert.”
“Are you serious?” Terrance asked solemnly.
Legendary Pokémon are not necessarily very powerful, but the most powerful Pokémon… are definitely Legendary Pokémon.
There are an extremely small number of Legendary Pokémon that have developed terrifying strength due to their long lifespans. These ancient beings are simply not something humans can contend with.
“This is very dangerous,” Terrance said. “The only way humans can contend against Legendary Pokémon is through technology. From your attitude, it seems you plan to challenge Regirock with just Trainers?”
“That’s right,” the trio said.
“Don’t worry. Only a few Legendary Pokémon are exceptionally powerful. Many aren’t as strong as an ace Pokémon of an excellent Trainer.”
“A video recently surfaced showing a Trainer repelling a Zapdos. That Trainer wasn’t even an Elite Four member, Champion, or Gym Leader. Do you understand the sensation it caused? So, after learning about Regirock, we came up with this idea,” Maki said. “Legendary Pokémon seem mysterious only because we’ve encountered so few of them.”
Terrance pondered, “You’re betting that this Regirock isn’t an ancient being, but since it’s mentioned in the ancient texts, its strength might not be as promising.”
Arvin added, “That’s why we’re seeking strong Trainers. The three of us aren’t enough. If you join and we record the battle, all participating Trainers will gain fame.”
“You might even earn a ‘title’ from some enthusiastic people…”
“Are you not tempted?”
Terrance hesitated, tapping his fingers on the table. “I am, but not for the ‘title.’ I’m more interested in the Legendary Pokémon.”
“I’ve never seen a living Legendary Pokémon. Are you sure it exists? And…how many Trainers have you invited?”
Ishi replied, “Including you, we’ve invited three Trainers.”
“How do you gauge a Trainer’s strength?” Terrance asked.
Since he was tempted, Terrance wanted to understand the situation first.
“Aura, the aura of their Pokémon. We saw your Altaria in the waters near Slateport City. Its aura is even fiercer than the ace Flygon we have. So you qualify, and we decided to invite you.”
“Running into you again in Lilycove City was quite a surprise.”
“We’ve seen the Pokémon of the other two Trainers. Their auras are no weaker than the ace Pokémon we captured together from the Hoenn Desert,” Ishi said.
“Four Altaria-level Pokémon, huh,” Terrance thought. If they combined their strength, unless the Legendary Pokémon was terrifyingly powerful, there was a fighting chance.
“Most importantly… we’ve also prepared escape routes and tools, ensuring this operation is absolutely safe,” Maki added.
Terrance nodded. “Since you’ve put it this way, I have no reason to refuse. Where are the other two Trainers?”
Ishi said, “They’re in other places. It took us a month just to find them. Having them follow us wouldn’t be appropriate. Now that we’ve reached the initially planned number, we can contact them and set off.”
