Pokémon Court-Chapter 253: Completing consecutive wins of 1st round (2-in-1)
Chapter 253: Completing consecutive wins of 1st round (2-in-1)
When the third Pokémon sent out by Terrance, Mismagius, toyed with the opponent’s Pokémon in the Illusionary Space, it marked Terrance’s first victory in the Battle Tower.
Altaria, Beautifly, Mismagius…each Pokémon took on one opponent, using either brute force or guerrilla tactics to easily defeat them without suffering any damage themselves.
“We can do this,” Terrance nodded to himself, looking at the condition of his three Pokémon. If all his opponents were of this caliber, his three Pokémon could easily get through seven battles.
After about 5 minutes, which is the interval between each match, a staff member led another Trainer over.
“The second Trainer you are going to battle is――Akin.”
“I’m ready.” Akin glanced at the unfamiliar face of Terrance and shrugged. It seemed Terrance was a Battle Tower rookie who had only won one match so far. Even if Akin won, there wouldn’t be much reward, which dampened his enthusiasm.
On this floor of the Battle Tower, there were eight large arenas, each managed by a staff member to maintain order and provide guidance. With the audience spread across each floor and arena, it generally felt a bit empty.
Terrance stood quietly at one end of the arena, waiting for his opponent to step onto the stage. As Terrance stood there, Mismagius floated in the air, exuding an eerie and ghostly aura.
“You go first,” Terrance said.
As a challenger of the Battle Tower, people like Terrance have the priority to send out their Pokémon first. However, there were no rules against switching Pokémon during the battle.
“A Ghost-type Pokémon, huh…” Akin muttered, realizing he hadn’t brought any Pokémon that could counter Ghost-types. He casually tossed a Poké Ball, and a flash of white light revealed a strong wind blowing past Terrance. It was a Tropius, a Grass and Flying-type Pokémon, usually used for riding or patrolling protected areas. Not many Trainers trained this kind of Pokémon.
“No wonder Hoenn is the place with the most Trainers; you can see all kinds of Pokémon here,” Terrance smirked as Mismagius began to vanish, disappearing from the opponent’s sight.
Suddenly, numerous Shadow Balls appeared from all directions around Tropius. These Shadow Balls moved incredibly fast and at tricky angles, blocking most of Tropius’ escape routes, making its large body a perfect target.
“Are these… Shadow Balls?!” Akin’s face turned serious as he saw the overwhelming number of Shadow Balls hurtling towards Tropius. He stood there, stunned.
This kind of unconventional move was always tough to deal with, as it went against the norms!
A standard Shadow Ball was an Energy Ball filled with shadow energy, but Akin had never seen so many used at once in a battle.
“Boom boom boom boom boom.”
Although Tropius tried to dodge, it couldn’t escape the range of the Shadow Ball’s attacks. After being hit by one Shadow Ball, countless others followed. After about a dozen explosions, Tropius, its body covered in wounds, flapped its wings weakly, its eyes losing their luster as it flew around frantically in distress.
“Press the attack,” Terrance commanded.
The moment the Shadow Balls exploded, Tropius was already engulfed in darkness. With Mismagius’ final strike, Tropius was defeated before it had a chance to use any of its moves.
“What!”
The staff on-site noticed a subtle change in Terrance’s expression. Defeating his opponent in just one move, a clear indication of his intention to keep winning.
Akin, who had initially underestimated Terrance as a rookie, now had to take him seriously. He hadn’t expected such strength from Terrance. Underestimating him any further could mean getting utterly defeated.
“Hmm? What’s this…”
Suddenly, Terrance felt a chill in the air, as if the temperature around him had dropped a few degrees. He looked over and saw that the opponent had released a new Pokémon, Glalie.
The cold aura permeated his body, making Terrance shiver slightly, then he felt a sense of boredom; this battle wasn’t even enough for a warm-up.
“Continue the battle,” Terrance said to Mismagius.
Akin stepped forward, clenched his fist, and loudly ordered, “Ice Beam.”
Whoosh! Icy energy gathered on Glalie’s head, forming a blue-white beam of cold air that shot toward Mismagius.
Mismagius dodged to the side, avoiding the Ice Beam. But as Glalie twisted its body, the Ice Beam followed, only stopping when Mismagius began chanting an incantation. Then, Glalie’s eyes lost focus, turning the Ice Beam onto itself.
“Glalie! What are you doing?!”
Akin shouted, snapping Glalie out of its daze, but it was too late. Countless Will-O-Wisps swarmed over, surrounding Glalie in a dense cloud of ghostly flames, causing it to howl in pain.
Greatly weakened by the Will-O-Wisp, Glalie couldn’t put up much of a fight and was quickly defeated. Akin gulped, reluctantly sending out his last Pokémon, Blaziken.
“Mismagius, come back and rest for a while.” Terrance retrieved Mismagius into the Poké Ball and sent out Altaria.
As soon as Altaria appeared, it soared above the arena. Blaziken crossed its arms, eyes sharply fixed on the sky, its legs igniting with intense flames.
“Blaze Kick!” Akin loudly commanded. Blaziken cried out and fiercely leaped towards Altaria, its legs whipping up heat waves that exploded in the air.
Faced with the attack, Altaria seemed unfazed. At Terrance’s signal, it suddenly accelerated, its body emitting a bluish-purple flame, releasing a terrifying aura that even Akin could feel. With a sharp sound, it tore through the air, and the flickering bluish-purple flames on its body took the form of a dragon’s head as it bit towards Blaziken, carrying a terrifying killing intent.
Boom!!
Blaziken fell, hitting the ground hard. It lay there, eyes wide open, clutching its knee and crying out in pain, unable to stand for a long time.
“Blaziken…” Akin’s eyes lost focus for a moment. He realized that in a single clash, Blaziken had been utterly defeated without a chance to counterattack. Its legs had suffered severe injuries from the collision, and although it was still conscious, it likely could no longer continue fighting.
“Return, Blaziken. We’ve lost this one.”
Akin retrieved Blaziken into the Poké Ball, then speechlessly looked at the young Trainer opposite him before saying: “You’re very strong. I hope you make it past three rounds. That’s when the real challenge begins.”
Terrance nodded, thanking Akin for the battle, and prepared to face his third opponent.
Altaria’s Dragon Rush had used only about half its usual power. However, Altaria’s timing was impeccable, hitting a vital spot and severely injuring Blaziken’s important limbs, causing it to be unable to continue fighting.
The second opponent was defeated!
Terrance hadn’t lost a single Pokémon and had already defeated six.
A great start. The staff in charge of this arena had seen many battles and felt this was a good omen. If Terrance didn’t encounter any strong opponents, he might achieve his first round of consecutive wins today as a rookie, an extremely rare feat in the Battle Tower.
Not long after, Terrance’s third opponent arrived. It was a female Trainer, accompanied by her friends. As she stepped onto the arena, a new round of battle was about to begin. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
“Dustox, Venoshock!”
Dustox flapped its green wings, spitting out a sharp, arrow-like stream of poison, speeding towards Terrance’s newly sent-out Beautifly.
The poison moved incredibly fast, likely due to specialized training, but just before it hit Beautifly, Beautifly dodged with an incredibly strange dance-like movement, leaving the female Trainer’s friends stunned.
“How did Beautifly dodge that?”
“It was too fast, I couldn’t see clearly.”
“It must have been a fluke…”
The two of them looked puzzled at Beautifly’s extremely “unnatural” flying method, yet they couldn’t pinpoint what exactly felt off.
“Sizzle!”
Facing Dustox’s relentless attacks, Beautifly, like a fearless warrior, showed no fear of any of Dustox’s attacks. Even when Dustox whipped up a fierce gale, Beautifly danced through the wind with ease, eventually arriving directly above Dustox—
“Crackle!” “Crackle!”
A large electric net formed before it enveloped Dustox and pinned it to the ground. The battle ended quietly with Beautifly’s fearless advance.
Terrance recalled the victorious Beautifly and sent out Mismagius, who had rested briefly, to continue the battle.
“What’s going on?!” The female Trainer rubbed her hair in frustration, unable to understand why her Pokémon suddenly stopped following orders. “Just now, my Lotad—it…!”
Mismagius’ illusion skill was sometimes accompanied by incantations and sometimes activated silently. Facing such a peculiar ability, few Pokémon could regain their senses within five seconds.
And this moment of distraction meant defeat!
But this was just a small part of Mismagius’ strength.
To conserve stamina, it naturally couldn’t go all out, especially with four more Trainers to face.
Terrance wasn’t arrogant enough to think he was invincible in the Beginner Area. The format was a series of consecutive battles, and even if his opponents were weaker, he could still make mistakes due to various external factors. He couldn’t afford to be careless.
“I lost,” the female Trainer said as her last Pokémon lost consciousness. She and her friends wore expressions of frustration and unwillingness.
“I’m going to get my Pokémon treated. He’s in his third battle now, right? Let’s keep watching.” said the female Trainer.
She had lost two battles in a bewildering manner, which frustrated her, and she wanted to observe Terrance’s next matches.
“Alright, we’ll wait for you,” her two friends said, settling down to watch Terrance’s upcoming battles.
One after another, Terrance continued to defeat his next three opponents, drawing an increasingly large crowd around the arena.
Simultaneously, the way the audience looked at Terrance began to change.
One more opponent… and Terrance would achieve a seven-match winning streak in one round!
Although it fell short of the five-round, thirty-five-match win streak needed to advance to the High-level Area, at least…..Terrance demonstrated the capability to achieve a full round of consecutive wins!
There was no rest between matches, but there was a gap between each round. If Terrance could complete one round of consecutive wins, it meant he had the potential to win all seven rounds!!
As long as he didn’t encounter an excessively strong opponent, given his current momentum, Terrance’s three Pokémon, though having expended a lot of stamina, still had enough strength to fight. All three of them were combat-ready and could be sent into battle at any time. Having won six matches while maintaining this condition, it can be said that… if he can win just one more match, Terrance’s first-day performance will immediately be spread via these people’s word of mouth. In the Beginner Area, Terrance would soon gain some fame.
So, the next time he battled, there wouldn’t be such a small audience.
“Next, the last one…” Terrance looked at the staff, sighing in relief as he spoke. Six matches had taken over an hour, and spending that much time battling and giving commands was tiring. Luckily, the battles weren’t too intense, otherwise, both the Pokémon and the Trainer wouldn’t have been able to endure it.
“At this battle frequency, if the intensity remains the same, my current mental state should be able to handle a full day without issue. Although, I might end up sleeping like a log tonight,” Terrance thought to himself.
“Who is this Trainer? He’s about to complete a winning streak.”
Among the six Trainers Terrance defeated, there were regulars of the Battle Tower, and some of the audience recognized them. Terrance, however, was a complete unknown to them, making their curiosity about this just-appeared rookie understandable.
“Speaking of which, there seem to be many promising rookies lately, and they’re all quite young. Just the day before yesterday, someone achieved a fourteen-win streak on the third floor!”
“Are you talking about Kazuya? I saw his battles too. Though each win was hard-fought, maintaining a fourteen-win streak is already impressive.”
“But he didn’t continue after that. Maybe he wanted to rest and not squander such a good start of fourteen-win streak.”

Rookie?
Terrance’s ears perked up as he listened to the crowd’s chatter below. His mind raced as he wondered if the people were talking about the supposed “provisional members” that Mr. Scott had invited to assist the “Frontier Club.”
“Mr. Scott is still out inviting other Trainers. When he returns to the Battle Tower, he’ll likely check our battle records first…”
“I don’t need to pursue consecutive wins aggressively. It’s better to keep a steady pace, taking things one step at a time. I can’t let the high frequency of battles harm my Pokémon’s foundation.”
Terrance’s first match of the final round began, proceeded, and ended. The audience fell silent, then one Trainer, looking at Terrance in the arena, said with a complicated expression, “He did it… a winning streak!”
“Damn, I’ve tried several times and always lost in the last few matches. Ah, looks like the money I paid for the registration is down the drain!”
“Hmm… Another Trainer in the Beginner Area has completed a round of consecutive wins…”
Looking at Terrance standing proudly in the arena, with his majestic Altaria in the air, the audience fell silent, taking note of this young Trainer who achieved a full round of seven consecutive wins without a single Pokémon losing its fighting ability.
They couldn’t help but feel a bit envious, knowing that completing a round of consecutive wins meant earning some rewards!
