Pokemon: Spiritual Master-Chapter 473: Restoring the Glory of Grass-types—It’s Our Duty!
Chapter 473 - Restoring the Glory of Grass-types—It’s Our Duty!
Generally speaking, a Pokémon's strength determines its status within a trainer's team.
But in Johan's case, things worked a little differently.
Because he treated all his Pokémon equally, even the non-battle-focused ones—like Rotom, Indeedee, and Alcremie—never seemed any weaker than Gengar and the others.
In his team, it wasn't strength that determined status, but ability.
There was a big difference between strength and ability.
For example, when the "Outlaw Squad" went on missions, Gengar took charge because of its experience and cunning.
But when it came to crafting and forging, whatever Tinkaton said was final—she was the boss.
And if they needed to search for ores, there was no doubt—Larvitar was the authority.
In short, the role of "leader" rotated, depending on the situation.
As Johan walked home, he thought about his Pokémon's future training plans.
Gengar, Ninetales, Tinkaton, and Dragonite were all steadily improving and didn't need any adjustments yet.
But the focus was on the recently evolved Urshifu and Ceruledge—
And, of course, Larvitar, who was still growing.
Larvitar was still young and just needed to grow happily for now.
Urshifu and Ceruledge, however, had forms that could change, meaning they had limitless potential—
But also required twice the effort to master.
And, of course...
Twice the resources.
Urshifu's Fighting-type moves were solid, so there wasn't much to add there.
For Dark and Water coverage, it already had Wicked Blow and Surging Strikes.
Sucker Punch and Aqua Jet provided mobility.
But it still needed coverage for Flying-types—so adding Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Rock Slide, or Stone Edge was necessary.
However, Urshifu's biggest weakness was Fairy-types.
In Single Strike Style, it had a 4x weakness to Fairy.
Even in Rapid Strike Style, it was still 2x weak to Fairy.
So Iron Head, Iron Defense, and Metal Claw were a must-learn.
Compared to Urshifu, though—
Ceruledge had even more gaps to fill.
When it was a Charcadet, it had a very limited move pool, mostly Fire-type moves.
That made its typing too one-dimensional.
The only silver lining was that both Ceruledge and Armarouge had the same weaknesses:
Ground, Rock, Ghost, Water, and Dark.
Teaching them Water-type moves was out of the question.
But Grass-type? That was possible.
Ceruledge could learn Solar Blade.
Armarouge could learn Energy Ball and Solar Beam.
That would help against Ground, Rock, and Water-types.
The problem was—
Solar Blade and Solar Beam weren't cheap moves.
And Johan didn't have any Grass-type Pokémon to help them learn naturally.
They'd have to figure it out from scratch—which wasn't easy.
As for Ghost and Dark-type weaknesses—
Ceruledge could learn Poltergeist, a move perfect for its fighting style.
And Armarouge could master Shadow Ball.
Gengar could teach them both. That would save a lot of money.
For Dark-type counters, Ceruledge could learn Fighting-type moves, while Armarouge had Aura Sphere.
And Armarouge also needed to learn Psychic Terrain and Expanding Force.
Johan sighed.
Even if some moves could be self-taught, the materials for training would still cost a fortune.
And Ceruledge would have to invest a lot of time and energy into mastering them all.
"But overall, Solar Blade and Solar Beam are the most important moves right now."
Johan needed to find a trainer who specialized in Grass-types.
Buying the move tutor discs was an option, but it would take too long.
And Ceruledge already had too much to train in.
The less time wasted, the better.
Johan searched his memory for any elite Grass-type trainers.
After thinking for a while, he realized—
"Wait... there's no Grass-type Elite Four or Champion in the Pokémon world?"
That was... kind of shocking.
Too bad he hadn't thought about this back when he met Celebi.
"That means..."
Johan patted Ceruledge's shoulder, sighing dramatically.
"Restoring the glory of Grass-types—it's our duty!"
Ceruledge: ??
Grass-type?
Me?!
"Ka-kaah~~"
Gengar, with a white towel wrapped around its head, floated over to the window.
It stuck its head outside—
And scared the delivery Staraptor so badly that it nearly fainted mid-air.
"Ka-kaah~"
Gengar grinned, greeting the Staraptor as it grabbed a large package from its back.
"Another delivery?"
Johan had just finished showering after training.
Drying his wet hair with a towel, he glanced at Gengar.
Gengar nodded, curiously examining the box in its hands.
"Goooo~~(TT)"
A sorrowful cry came from outside the window.
Johan paused, looking at Gengar—who still had a towel wrapped around its head.
"Wait... you went to get the package like that?"
"Ka-kaah?"
Gengar scratched its backside.
What's the problem?
Johan sighed, removing the towel from its head.
"Gengar, if you keep this up, no one's going to want to deliver here anymore."
Huh?
Johan had already given up on fixing Gengar's antics.
Instead, he turned his attention to the package, labeled "Rotom Mart."
Inside—
A foldable, portable bicycle!
"Lo-Lo-Lo-Roto!! (﹏)"
Rotom immediately sensed the built-in electric motor inside.
From Pokédex, to cleaning bot, to BBQ machine, to cameraman—
Now it was also a transportation tool?!
Johan smirked, seeing Rotom's reaction.
"It's the newest model. It can transform."
"Roto?!"
"Ka-kaah?!"
"Yoji?!"
Transform?!
Ever since Ceruledge had revealed its ability to change forms, these three had been obsessed with transformation.
They constantly pestered Tinkaton to build them armor or machines.
And now—
Rotom could actually transform into a bike?!
Johan grinned.
"The all-terrain, all-weather, adaptive Rotom Bicycle—"
"It fulfills all your needs!"
Riding through the city streets, Johan enjoyed the cool evening breeze.
The Rotom Bike was surprisingly smooth and fast, making the ride effortless.
Gengar floated beside him, sometimes stopping to chat with shopkeepers or passersby.
Meanwhile, Larvitar sat in the front basket, kicking its tiny legs as it curiously observed the surroundings.
"Left turn ahead, Roto!"
Rotom's voice-guided navigation activated.
But Johan ignored it.
He pedaled forward without turning.
"Error—incorrect route. Estimated arrival time increased by ten minutes—"
"Rotom, your map needs an update."
"Huh? Roto?!"
Johan pointed left.
"If I turned there, I'd crash into a wall."
There was a newly constructed building blocking the way.
"WHAT?!"
Rotom's voice shot up an octave.
Devon Corporation built that fast?!
Johan wasn't upset, though.
He patted Rotom's screen.
"Let's just stick to the main road."
Riding Rayquaza?
Pfft—
Why ride a dragon... when you can ride your own bike?
Besides—
Now he could finally cruise across water without slipping.
The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.
With the Rotom Bike, he didn't need to rely on Dragonite for transportation anymore.
Now that was a good investment.
Johan pedaled forward at a leisurely pace, the city lights reflecting off the sleek frame of his Rotom Bike. The evening air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of blooming flowers from the gardens lining the streets.
He wasn't in a hurry.
This was just a test ride—to see how well Rotom's modifications had integrated with the bike.
And so far...
It was perfect.
Smooth acceleration, effortless handling, and the best part—it carried Larvitar, Gengar, and even Ninetales with zero strain.
If this had been a normal bike, it would've collapsed under Larvitar's weight alone.
"Roto! Approaching intersection—recalculating optimal route!"
Johan ignored it again.
Instead, he veered slightly left, following the familiar path toward a plaza in the distance.
But as he approached—
His ears picked up a rhythmic, high-pitched melody.
Huh?
Street performers?
Curious, he slowed down and glanced toward the plaza.
What he saw made him do a double take.
A group of elderly men and women stood in a circle, moving in sync with a Loudred and several Whismur, all swaying to the beat of a catchy tune.
Johan blinked.
Was this... an exercise routine?
Or more importantly—
Was this a Pokémon-led dance class?!
"Ka-kaah..."
Beside him, Gengar's eyes sparkled with interest.
The ghostly grin on its face stretched wide.
This—this was its calling.
Singing, dancing, commanding an entire crowd...
Johan immediately recognized the danger.
He reached out and turned Gengar's head away.
"Don't even think about it."
"Ka-kaah?"
"If you start singing, half of them are going to pass out."
Gengar pouted.
He wasn't wrong.
If Gengar used its voice, it wouldn't be a concert—it'd be a mass KO event.
Johan shook his head.
Still... this whole setup reminded him of something.
If the elderly enjoyed Pokémon performances like this...
Wouldn't Jigglypuff have an entire market in this town?
A natural sleep aid, straight from the source.
Huh.
That might actually be a brilliant business idea.
Johan filed it away for later and continued riding.
Tonight wasn't about work—he was just enjoying the ride.
After making a few stops at the department store, the food district, and the battle arena, he finally felt satisfied.
The Rotom Bike had passed every test.
It was worth every Pokédollar spent.
Finally, he wouldn't need to rely on Dragonite for long-distance travel anymore.
As he locked up the bike outside his house, his phone buzzed.
Incoming call: Four Heavenly King, Phoebe.
Johan raised an eyebrow.
Phoebe?
That was unexpected.
Tapping the answer button, he brought the phone to his ear.
"Johan, there's a meeting tomorrow at the League Headquarters. Do you need a private flight arranged?"
Ah—so it was that kind of call.
"Yeah, that'd be great," he replied.
After all, the meeting was about Team Magma and Team Aqua.
They couldn't afford to take things lightly.
Just as he was about to hang up—
His phone vibrated again.
New call: Professor Sycamore, Kalos Region.
Johan frowned slightly.
What was Sycamore calling about?
He picked up.
"Johan, I'm planning to hold a Researcher Conference soon. Do you think you'll be available?"
Ah—Mega Evolution again.
It was still the hottest research topic in the world.
Johan exhaled slowly.
Looks like things weren't going to slow down anytime soon.
