Chapter 197 - God-Tier Treasures

John stepped forward, carefully inspecting the object before him. His eyes widened slightly as he realized what it was—Landorus' tail.

When in its Incarnate Form, Landorus' tail curls around its body like an ornate decoration. However, in its Therian Form, it transforms into a beastly appendage.

"So the legendary item linked to Landorus... is its tail?" John muttered, reaching out to pick it up.

He stashed the tail in his bag and immediately pulled out his Gameboy to check its attributes. However, after searching through his inventory, he found nothing under the held items or valuables section.

"Wait, it's not a held item?" he frowned, puzzled.

After a more thorough search, he finally found it in his berry pouch.

[Fertility Berry: A Ground-type Pokemon that consumes this fruit will permanently enhance its connection with the earth.]

"Fertillity Berry? I remember there's a common berry with that name..." John mused. But the contradiction was glaring—how could a berry come from what was clearly a dead tree?

Curious, John examined it further. From its description, it was undoubtedly a legendary berry for Ground-types, and its effect was straightforward and powerful—a permanent boost to earth-based abilities. He liked it.

Among his team, both Garchomp and Steelix were perfect candidates for consuming it. But after thinking it through, he decided against feeding either of them.

"Who am I kidding? I can farm this thing!"

A legendary berry like this was too valuable to waste on just one Pokemon. If he could cultivate it, he could feed it to his entire team, giving them all mastery over Ground-type moves.

Without hesitation, John guided his character to the nearest berry patch, uprooted a freshly planted fruit, and attempted to plant the Wanzi Fruit in its place.

A dialog box immediately popped up:

[Would you like to plant the berry here? (Note: The fruit will not grow without Landorus in your party.)]

John sighed. "Of course, it wouldn't be that easy."

Legendary berries required legendary Pokemon to nurture them. Without Landorus, the Wanzi Fruit wouldn't grow. That meant, for now, it was better to give it to Garchomp.

As for future cultivation? Well, if he ever caught Landorus, he could just plant more. Letting Landorus' tail grow into a full-fledged tree wasn't such a bad idea.

Still, it was a little disappointing. He had been hoping for Landorus' divine artifact, something that truly represented its legendary status.

Thinking back, though, the notion seemed foolish. A god-tier item tied to Landorus wouldn't just be lying around in its lair. It would be something it carried with it at all times.

Shaking off his disappointment, John decided to count his blessings. A legendary berry was already an incredible find. He was about to leave when a thought struck him. He pulled out his Dowsing Machine and scanned the area again.

"There are two Landorus in total... does that mean there are two artifacts?"

The device buzzed, but the signal pointed right back to the spot where he'd just picked up the Wanzi Fruit.

"Something else is here?" John crouched and began digging at the soil beneath the fruit.

After a few moments, his fingers brushed against something solid. He unearthed a transparent orb, about the size of his fist, with a swirling golden-brown energy coursing through it.

His breath caught in his throat. The bead felt eerily familiar. He fished out another item from his bag for comparison. It was almost identical, except the one he already owned crackled with bright streaks of electricity instead of earthy hues.

"This... this is a god-tier artifact?!"

The realization hit him hard. The item he had just unearthed was a counterpart to the one he'd taken from Zapdos in the Thunderstorm Plains.

He quickly checked its properties on his Gameboy.

[Orb of Abundance: Doubles the power and range of Ground-type moves. Doubles stamina regeneration. Within a 30-mile radius, plant growth is accelerated.]

John stared at the description. This was a treasure.

Unlike the Orb of Thunder, which was purely an offensive tool, the Orb of Abundance was more about sustaining life. It made sense; Landorus was known as the God of Fertility, after all. Legends told of it appearing after Tornadus and Thundurus clashed, absorbing the residual energy from their battles to enrich the land. The regions it visited would inevitably experience bountiful harvests.

John's mind raced. "If this works on my berry farm..."

Normally, his berries could be harvested every two days. But if this artifact accelerated growth, he could harvest them daily. That was an instant doubling of his income.

For an average person, doubling a small paycheck might not seem like much. But what if someone was making 300 million a month?

"600 million a month..." John whispered, swallowing hard. This artifact was insane.

For now, though, he had one clear priority: giving this treasure to Garchomp. As his strongest Ground-type Pokemon, it was the best fit.

Finally, a legendary item that could be equipped! Unlike Orb of Thunder, which had no immediate use, Orb of Abundance was perfect for battle and resource farming.

Speaking of Orb of Thunder...

John frowned. He still had doubts about whether or not it was truly a god-tier artifact.

A divine artifact should only belong to a true god. And yet, the Zapdos he'd taken it from was only LV 89.

"An LV 89 god?" John scoffed. He doubted that Zapdos could hold its own against Landorus in a serious fight.

From what he'd seen of Elites and Champions in battle videos, a true god-tier Pokemon shouldn't be that low level. Maybe the god-tier artifacts weren't as exclusive to divine beings as he had assumed.

Moreover, if these artifacts were truly so important, why had Landorus left this one in its lair instead of carrying it? Was it simply meant to accelerate the growth of the Wanzi Fruit?

John sighed. He didn't have all the answers yet.

"No point overthinking it," he muttered. "What matters is that it's mine now."

He stood up, dusting off his clothes. With two legendary artifacts in hand, this trip had been a massive success.

Still, a nagging thought lingered in his mind.

Almost as if on autopilot, his hands reached for the Dowsing Machine again.

"Just one last check."

After all, he'd almost missed Orb of Abundance. Who knew if there was still more treasure buried in Landorus' lair?

The device buzzed again. This time, the signal was faint. It wasn't a legendary artifact, but it was something.

John turned his gaze toward the northwest. The object was just lying there on the ground, waiting to be discovered.

"Alright, one more thing before I go." He grinned. "Let's see what else Landorus left behind."
