Pokemon: The Gameboy Effect-Chapter 228: Aura Talent
Chapter 228 - Aura Talent
(A/N: Apologies for that last Chapter, not my proudest work for sure, but I wanted to say, Thank you, for your comments, likes, and powerstones. They truly brighten my day, so thanks for sticking around with me until now :)
"No, I met my Shiny Fraxure in the Dragon's Nest, and I caught the other Shiny Pokemon in the wild by accident," John replied.
Technically, the ones he encountered in the game were considered wild, so he wasn't lying.
Saul Badman and Damian exchanged glances, then fell silent. Eventually, they both sighed.
They admired his luck, but they just couldn't put it into words.
They hadn't believed in supernatural luck, until they met John. No matter how unlikely something was, if it involved John, it would somehow happen.
He had the talent of Aura, had captured seven Shiny Pokemon, and out of the seventeen Pokemon he owned, four had the Aura talent as well.
Just these facts alone were enough to make anyone jealous. But all this luck concentrated on one person? It was hard not to question whether John was some sort of divine anomaly.
Or maybe... John was Lady Luck's chosen one?

"I think the smartest decision I've ever made was taking you in as my student," Saul mused, rubbing his chin.
"John, don't forget about your old friends when you're rich and famous!" Damian said with exaggerated seriousness.
John scratched his head awkwardly. They thought he was way luckier than he actually was. The reality was, his advantage came from the Gameboy he had when he was transported to this world. And a huge part of his Shiny Pokemon collection was thanks to Togepi's influence.
"Alright, let's focus on Aura training," Saul coughed to bring the topic back on track. He reached into Gengar's stomach and pulled out a few crystal orbs, handing them to John. "Each Pokemon with Aura potential gets one. Now, let's start training."
John recalled his other Pokemon and distributed the crystal orbs to his three chosen ones. Slakoth was returned to its Pokeball—it wasn't ready for this kind of training yet. He figured it'd be best to wait until it evolved into Vigoroth before working on its Aura abilities.
"Hold the crystal ball in your hands, focus on its light blue glow, and try to move it with your thoughts," Saul instructed.
"At first, this is going to be a difficult process. But once you make a breakthrough and feel the Aura flow, training will get much easier."
John and his three Pokemon followed the instructions. They each took a crystal ball, fixated on the soft blue glow, and willed it to react to their thoughts.
Among them, only Hariyama showed immediate results.
The blue hue in its crystal ball shifted and morphed like clay, effortlessly reshaping itself into dumplings, steamed buns, noodles, and pancakes. Hariyama was having a great time playing around.
Meanwhile, the crystal balls in John's, Blaziken's, and Greninja's hands remained unresponsive, as still as stagnant water.
This was clearly going to take a while.
"If you can learn Calm Mind, that would be the best way to train your Aura," Saul advised. "Doing so while using Calm Mind will double your efficiency. This applies to both Pokemon and humans."
"A lot of moves aren't exclusive to Pokemon, humans can master them, too."
"Got it, Teacher," John responded earnestly.
"Once your crystal ball is fully infused with Aura, you can begin Vacuum Wave training. Master Vacuum Wave to the point where you can use it instantly, without charging, and then you'll be ready to train for Aura Sphere," Saul continued.
To demonstrate, he stretched out his hand, and a fist-sized Aura Sphere materialized in his palm with ease.
John stared in disbelief.
Was this where the world was heading? Were Trainers going to start battling Pokemon without even using their own Pokemon?
Saul, noticing John's stunned expression, smirked. "You look surprised. But let me tell you—many countries around the world promote 'Wild Battles.' In those, defeating the Trainer directly is a valid win condition. If you master Aura, you'll gain a huge advantage in Wild Battles."
He paused before adding, "Besides, once you leave the safe walls of school, you'll realize the world isn't as peaceful as you think. Knowing how to protect yourself is essential."
John nodded in agreement.
If he ever encountered a life-or-death Pokemon battle in the wild, there would be no rules—only survival. In those situations, self-defense wasn't just useful; it was necessary.
He looked at the crystal ball in his hands.
Mastering Aura wasn't just an option, it was a must.
"Don't worry about losing training time for your Pokemon. After the New Year, I'll help you find some Aura Crystals. Those will speed up the process," Sam promised. He had fully accepted his role as John's mentor and was already planning for his future.
Saul reached into his pocket and pulled out a jade pendant, handing it to Damian. "Take this to Riverstone. Joe still owes me a favor. When the 'You Know What' opens next time, make sure John gets a spot."
"Understood, Teacher!" Damian said, taking the jade pendant with a nod.
John had no idea what they were talking about, but from the way they were handling it, it was clearly something good for him.
"Thank you, Teacher. Thank you, Senior," John said sincerely.
Both Saul and Damian accepted his gratitude. They might've had concerns about his character at first, but seeing his Gardevoir undergo Mega Evolution had reassured them.
After all, Gardevoir was a unique Pokemon. It could sense the hearts of those around it. The bond between it and its Trainer was often a reflection of the Trainer's true nature.
A Trainer who forced Gardevoir to obey them wouldn't receive its trust. And Mega Evolution? That was impossible without genuine mutual respect.
If there was an exception, it would be something as rare as getting struck by a meteorite while walking down the street.
At that point, Saul and Damian had fully acknowledged John's worth.
"Teacher, Harisson and the others are here to celebrate the New Year," Damian noted, glancing at his phone.
"Then let's head back," Saul said, turning to John. "Aura training isn't something you can rush. Take your time with it."
He paused before adding, "A lot of seniors and experienced Trainers will be visiting over the next few days. You should get to know them and expand your network."
"Understood, Teacher!" John agreed enthusiastically.
