Pokemon: The Gameboy Effect-Chapter 256: Let’s Sell Them All!
Chapter 256 - Let's Sell Them All!
[Ralts (Psychic, Fairy-Type)]
[Gender: Female]
[Ability: Trace (When entering the field, this Pokemon copies the ability of a random opponent's Pokemon.)]
[IV's: Stamina (20), Attack (31), Special Attack (11), Defense (22), Special Defense (12), Speed (23)]
[Moves: Disarming Voice, Growl, Double Team, Confusion]
"This is a female Ralts with the Trace ability, and its individual value for Attack is at its peak. That means its best evolution should be Gallade!" John explained while glancing at the display screen. If a Gardevoir is the epitome of grace and elegance, then a female Gallade carries a striking, commanding presence. Yet, some still found it odd to see a Gardevoir wielding a Big Root.
The room buzzed with murmurs as the crowd debated the choice.
John had a system for evaluating individual values, ranking them from 0 to 31. This particular Ralts had an unimpressive Special Attack value of 11, making it subpar among its kind when it came to special moves. However, its Physical Attack hit a perfect 31, the highest possible. In his terms, that was a "IV" stat.
If John's evaluations were accurate, this Ralts was much better suited to evolving into a Gallade rather than a Gardevoir.
Still, there were skeptics.
"Believe it or not, it's your call whether you want Ralts to become Gardevoir or Gallade. Just make sure you don't regret it later," John said with a casual shrug, signaling for the next Ralts to step forward.
This one was far more energetic than the last, confidently trotting toward a tan-skinned girl in the third row. Unlike the shy first Ralts, this one had already made its choice. Ralts' ability to sense emotions was truly remarkable.
"Miss, are you willing to be its trainer?" John asked, addressing the girl directly.
"Yes!" she said eagerly, reaching out to take Ralts' tiny hand.
"Perfect. You and your parents can head over there to complete the payment." John gestured toward the counter. "Oh, and by the way, I also happen to sell treasure-tier evolutionary items like the Dawn Stone!"
He had little personal use for treasure-tier items these days, so he decided to put them up for sale at his breeding house. The Dawn Stone, in particular, was something he had randomly picked up during one of his travels.
"Thanks! I was planning to evolve it into a Gallade anyway!" the girl beamed before heading off with her mother.
It seemed that not everyone was dead set on evolving Ralts into Gardevoir.
"Alright, next up, the third Ralts!" John called out.
The screen refreshed, displaying stats for a Ralts with maxed-out Speed.
Over the next fifteen minutes, the remaining eight Ralts were sold in much the same fashion. Surprisingly, many of them had already selected their trainers before stepping on stage, sensing compatible partners among the crowd.
Every Ralts John sold had at least one maxed-out stat, something he meticulously ensured. His breeding house wasn't about quantity; it was about quality. Any Ralts that didn't meet his standards? He either kept them on his ranch or entrusted them to Professor Birch for research.
Not all of them had high Attack or Special Attack values. Some excelled in HP, Special Defense, or Speed. There were even two male Ralts among them. While some might hesitate to choose them, John knew that whether they became Gardevoir or Gallade was entirely up to their future trainers.
As long as they were happy with their decision, that was all that mattered.
In total, he sold ten Ralts, raking in a cool 300 million. After taxes, he'd be left with over 250 million, a solid sum. However, compared to his monthly 600 million earnings from selling berries, this wasn't a huge amount.
Still, he couldn't ignore the potential here.
If he could catch ten high-IV Ralts in a day, less than that, really, thanks to Venusaur's Sweet Scent—he'd be looking at a staggering 500 million per day. That was 15 billion a month. In just six months, he could become a billionaire.
Of course, that was assuming the prices stayed high. Flooding the market with too many Ralts would inevitably lower their value. Rarity drove up demand.
He wasn't in a rush. Besides, if ten 1IV Ralts could sell for 300 million, how much could he get for 2V or 3V Ralts?
This was just the beginning.
John was a businessman, after all.
"Alright, that's it for today!" John announced with a slight bow. "Thank you all for coming."
Some of the trainers who hadn't managed to buy one looked disappointed, but John quickly reassured them.
"If you didn't get a Ralts this time, don't worry! Starting this month, on the 1st and 15th of every month, I'll be selling another batch of ten Ralts using the same system."
Murmurs of interest spread through the room.
"That means, in just ten days, another ten Ralts will be available! And this time, one of them will be a 3V Ralts!"
Disappointed trainers suddenly perked up. Maybe missing out today had been a blessing in disguise. If they had a chance at a stronger Ralts next time, wasn't that even better?
John could see the hope in their eyes. They might not have believed in individual values before, but after what they witnessed today, they were more than willing to take a chance on his breeding house.
"However," John added, "the price of a 3V Ralts won't be 30 million. I hope you all come prepared."
The crowd barely reacted. They expected as much. If individual values were real, then a Ralts with three maxed-out stats was worth far more than a simple 1V.
If the price was too low, people would start doubting the authenticity of his system.
John stepped off the stage, a smirk playing on his lips.
Business was just getting started.
