Pokemon: The Gameboy Effect-Chapter 602: No Equal
As a fellow Fire-type Pokemon, Entei could sense even more acutely than Magnus just how powerful John’s Blaziken truly was.
This was definitely an opponent whose strength matched its own!
But very quickly, Entei realized it was wrong.
Blaziken wasn’t an equal opponent, it was a powerhouse capable of crushing it completely!
ROOOAR!!
Entei bellowed loudly. As one of Ho-Oh’s sacred guardian beasts, retreating before a stronger opponent would be an absolute disgrace. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
This battle was meant to test Blaziken’s combat ability after achieving King status, so John specifically chose not to have it Mega Evolve. Just deploying its Noble ability would be enough.
Blaziken’s Domain was called Purgatory Coronation!
Once the ability activated, Blaziken’s combat effectiveness immediately increased several-fold.
Originally, John had designed Sonic Punch for close-range combat, but Blaziken had become far more proficient with leg techniques over time. So it had adapted the sonic speed principles to its kicks instead. For a Blaziken whose combat power had already reached legendary tier, this kind of adaptation was as easy as breathing.
Blaziken took a step forward, each footfall leaving scorched flames on the ground as its speed gradually built up momentum.
Before Entei could even pinpoint its opponent’s location, intense pain suddenly erupted in its abdomen.
The world spun. A violent sensation of weightlessness took over. One second later, Entei was already flying backward through the air.
Entei was capable of levitation, but right now it definitely wasn’t floating by choice.
At the exact spot where Entei had just stood, Blaziken now occupied that position, left foot planted firmly on the ground, right leg still held in the upward kicking posture.
Lowering its right leg, Blaziken stood with both feet grounded, knees slightly bent as it gathered power for the next explosive movement.
Suspended helplessly in midair, Entei caught sight of Blaziken’s stance and instantly realized what was coming next. It desperately tried to control its weightless body, using its levitation ability to dodge the incoming strike.
But the moment that thought formed, the sound of sliced air reached its ears.
WHAM!
Entei’s abdomen took another devastating hit, launching it even higher into the sky.
Having barely risen fifteen feet, Entei’s back suffered another crushing blow. Blaziken had already leaped to a higher position, attacking downward with perfectly timed precision.
But this assault was only the beginning.
Floating helplessly in midair, Entei became like a character in a fighting game trapped in an infinite juggle combo, unable to escape while the fire chicken attacked from every conceivable angle. Unable to fly away. Unable to fall down. Completely at Blaziken’s mercy.
"Blaziken’s infinite combo is getting more refined every time," John commented with obvious approval.
What everyone was witnessing was clearly an ultra-advanced version of Double Kick.
Incorporating tremendous power with explosive technique.
Moving faster than the opponent could track, kicking them airborne, then unleashing an endless assault while they remained weightless and disoriented in the air.
Just watching it created this perfect aesthetic fusion of raw power and technical mastery!
However, reality disappointed John slightly.
Entei had tried desperately to escape the combo, but it fainted far too quickly under Blaziken’s relentless barrage.
"How boring. One combo and it’s done," John spoke Blaziken’s current sentiment aloud while simultaneously pulling out a Luxury Ball and hurling it at the falling Entei.
Magnus and Raikou, standing off to the side, heard John’s dismissive words and visibly flinched.
Raikou had originally wanted to intervene, to stop Blaziken from brutalizing Entei and prevent John from capturing it. After all, as fellow members of Ho-Oh’s sacred guardian trio and divine messengers, they weren’t supposed to travel alongside human trainers casually. And even when they did accompany humans, it should be through bonds forged during shared journeys and mutual respect, not John’s method of employing the most brutal approach imaginable: beat them unconscious first, ask questions never.
Blaziken’s gaze shifted toward Raikou, as if silently asking: You want some too?
Raikou decisively followed its survival instincts.
Was it kidding? Entei had just gotten completely demolished by the fire chicken in under thirty seconds. If Raikou challenged someone even stronger than Gardevoir and Gengar, wouldn’t that be voluntarily signing up for a beating? Besides, Raikou had already lost to this trainer once before anyway.
All Raikou could do now was desperately hope that Suicune would... go find Ho-Oh to teach this trainer a proper lesson.
As Raikou’s trainer, Magnus’s mental state was perfectly synchronized with his Pokemon at this precise moment.
Watching Entei get one-shot combo’d into oblivion by John’s Blaziken...
Magnus went from wanting to gauge their relative combat strengths to immediately starting to pray he wouldn’t encounter John during the World Championship.
If he did face John in the bracket, he’d forfeit on the spot!
Yeah, honestly, with John participating in Pokemon battles, continuing the entire tournament felt completely pointless.
Everyone knew that Blaziken wasn’t even John’s ace Pokemon. If his Blaziken was already this absurdly strong, how terrifyingly powerful must his actual main team be?!
