Power of Runes-Chapter 374: The One Percent Gamble
While one side the incarnations of the Eternal Supremes dissolved their bodies to pass on their memories to their main bodies, on the other side the Demi God Angels and the Transcendents had grave looks on their faces.
The sudden disappearance of the Eternal Supremes, combined with the lingering pressure left behind by their presence, created an unpleasant sensation that refused to fade.
Their instincts screamed danger persistently, as if warning them that something had already slipped out of control.
Along with this came subtle vibrations spreading through the surrounding space, faint yet unmistakable to beings of their level.
It instantly drew everyone’s attention. Almost at the same moment, they all turned their gazes toward the direction of the world of Akumia, where those disturbances were growing clearer with every passing second.
In this matter, the Angels were far more knowledgeable. They had faced the Abyss many times before, and their bloodline carried memories of those encounters. The holiness of their race reacted violently to Abyssal energy, creating an instinctive rejection that could not be ignored.
And right now, that same repulsion surged from deep within them, sharp and suffocating.
The Demi God Angel who was not holding Aamon rushed toward the Gates without hesitation. At the same time, he transmitted an urgent command to the Heavenly Realm, requesting the immediate deployment of their armies, fully aware that delays would only worsen the situation.
Even then, he did not forget about the Rune. Before moving away, he instructed the Demi God Angel holding Aamon to secure the target properly, leaving no room for mistakes. Only after that did he hastily shift his focus back to the Gates.
The Transcendents reacted a step later, but their realization came just as swiftly. They sensed the anomaly in the surroundings and seeing the urgency of the Angels along with their deep Knowledge, understood what was happening almost instantly. Without wasting time, they hurried as well.
The two decided to move together. As for the Rune, they were not overly worried. Their master had already been informed, and that alone was enough to ensure that the Angels would not lay claim on the Rune, atleast for now.
This allowed them to fully focus on their task, which was to prevent chaos from spreading into the Mortal Realm.
And the opening of the Abyssal Gates was a clear and undeniable sign of chaos.
All of this happened within the span of a single minute.
Aamon, who was still restrained by the Demi God Angel, had his thoughts running wild. He had witnessed things he never expected to see. He had even sensed the presence of an Eternal Supreme, something far beyond what he was prepared to face.
Many unpleasant memories surfaced in his mind, bringing with them a familiar sense of pressure and fear from the Abyssal Realm. However, he quickly forced them down, knowing that hesitation would only seal his fate. He refocused his mind on the task at hand.
Which was to continuously tap his fingers against the hand of the Demi God Angel holding him.
Why was he doing this?
The reason was simple. He was trying to trigger the 1% chance of activating the passive effect of the Rune of Destruction, a gamble born from desperation rather than confidence.
But whether it was fate or sheer bad luck, he remained unsuccessful the entire time after being captured.
_Looking at how the Eternal Supremes vanished abruptly, along with the urgency shown by the Demi God Angels and the Transcendents, it was sufficient to say that my foolish son had opened the Abyss....._
Reaching such a conclusion was not difficult for someone who understood the full background of the situation. Orien had always wanted to open the Abyss. Using his bloodline ability, he was supposed to be dead, erased from concern and ignored by everyone. Because of that assumption, no one bothered to remove him from the sealing array created by the Angels.
Thus, Orien remained isolated within the array, trapped together with the Abyssal Gates. While the Eternal Supremes were present during that time, they were only incarnations. At their level, even creating an incarnation was something worth marveling at.
After all, as one grew stronger, the difficulty of creating a clone or incarnation increased exponentially. Even producing one with thirty percent of the main body’s power was considered a great success, as the process became more unstable and demanding with every higher rank.
So it was not surprising that the incarnations were not able to sense the changes happening in the world of Akumia. One had to also realize that the incarnations never truly descended in the Mortal Realm, thus their senses were also limited.
Then Orien opened the Abyssal Gates, and that single act created the perfect opportunity for Aamon to truly escape.
With one Demi God already gone, Aamon decided to abandon patience and use force. Earlier, he had only been tapping continuously, gambling on the 1% chance of triggering the Rune’s passive effect. Now, however, he attacked directly. Using both his hands and legs, he struck at the Demi God Angel’s limbs with rapid, relentless movements.
The attacks themselves caused no real damage to the Demi God. However, they were enough to irritate him, especially when his mind was already strained by the growing crisis surrounding the Abyssal Gates.
"You filthy de-" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Whether it was luck or fate, the Demi God’s words froze mid-sentence as that 1% chance finally manifested even before the Demi God could do anything, appearing like salvation itself to Aamon.
Aamon felt the grip on his head loosen. When he looked up, he saw the eyes of the Demi God Angel filled with horror and disbelief.
The Angel’s body trembled violently, and within a few seconds, the light in his eyes faded. His aura collapsed, his life force dispersed silently, and his body fell like a broken kite.
Seizing the moment, Aamon did not waste a single second. He tore open space itself and escaped into the void. Grey light enveloped his body, and in the next instant, he vanished completely.
**
In an unknown void, far away from the World of Akumia.
Aamon appeared, surrounded by emptiness from all sides. The void pressed against him endlessly. If not for the grey light covering him, he would have not been able to stay in the void for long. It was all thanks to the treasure he had.
His breathing was heavy, uneven, and his mind felt strained to the limit due to the sheer pressure he had endured and the mental capacity he had overused in such a short span of time.
"I-I-I escaped... Huff..... Huff...."
Each breath burned his lungs. His body was finally reacting to the terror of having been only moments away from the jaws of a predator far stronger than him. The tension he had forcibly suppressed until now came crashing down all at once.
His thoughts drifted to Orien, the one who had created the opportunity for his escape. Yet Aamon did not worry about Orien’s life or death. Through their bloodline connection, he could still sense him. Orien was alive.
Leaving that matter aside, Aamon focused his attention on something far more important. He summoned the description of the Rune of Destruction’s passive ability.
**
Rune: Rune of Destruction
Description:
-There is a 1% chance to cause instant death to the enemy upon any contact, as long as the rank difference between the user and the enemy does not exceed three ranks. (Passive)
**
The ability itself was absurdly powerful. One could even call it broken. Yet in the end, it had saved Aamon’s life when nothing else could have.
There was, however, a crucial condition that could not be ignored. If the user did not clearly designate the target as an enemy, the ability would not activate at all. Only when the user truly acknowledged the person before them as an enemy who must be killed would the Rune respond and reveal its terrifying effect.
Understanding this, Aamon let out a slow breath. He silently thanked his luck, or perhaps fate itself, for granting him that single opening.
He did not linger any longer.
With the Abyss now opening, countless variables had shifted. Many of his carefully laid plans would need to be rewritten from the ground up. The situation had grown far more dangerous, and far more urgent.
Aamon turned his gaze into the endless void and hurriedly departed. He had become very busy all of a sudden.

Back in the Starry Sky.
The Demi God who was rushing toward the World of Akumia, along with the Transcendents, suddenly froze and instinctively looked back, as if something had violently tugged at their senses.
There, they saw the body of a Demi God Angel falling into the endless darkness below, a vast space shimmering faintly with distant stars. They could clearly feel it.
The once vibrant life force of the Angel had completely vanished, leaving behind nothing but an empty shell. At the same time, the Rune Bearer, Aamon, was nowhere to be seen, his presence erased as if he had never been there at all.
The Demi God Angel cried out in horror, his expression twisting. He immediately turned back toward the falling Angel, rushing after the body with desperate speed, reaching out to his fallen kin.
The Transcendents exchanged a brief glance. There was no hesitation in their eyes. They immediately turned around and rushed toward the World of Akumia once more. They could not allow unnecessary matters to distract them now. The Angels were not their responsibility, and they felt no emotional attachment toward them.
When they arrived at the World of Akumia, a shocking sight greeted them.
The Gates of Heaven were fully open, divine light pouring out and illuminating the surrounding space. Not far from it, the Gates of the Abyss loomed ominously, their form steadily increasing in size. As they expanded, hairline fractures spread far and wide throughout their surroundings, caused by the ancient restrictions placed upon the Abyssal Realm slowly being undone, one layer at a time.
At the current speed, within the next five minutes, the Gates would fully open.
The moment they realized this, the expressions of both Transcendents changed. The situation had already crossed into a critical state. They could not contact their Master anymore.
Earlier, they had already used their one time utility tool to pass the message about the Rune Bearer, and they did not have another one.
As getting more than one was not possible due to their rarity and the sheer difficulty and complexity of its formation.
