Pregnant for the straight CEO-Chapter 82
~Park Min~
Home sweet fucking home. Or whatever was left of it after the past few days turned our lives into a goddamn circus. I think someone needs to sit down with me so I can explain my own side of this whole turn of events, it’s been so difficult and so one hundred and five other problems and even Yu Jin didn’t have the time to listen.
Yu Jin and I had barely walked through the door two hours ago, as we left the hospital with a stack of papers saying "take it easy" like that was an option, yes we had to check my butt out again after everything, plus the difficulty I was facing. Baby Rin was already screaming his tiny lungs out because he’d missed his routine, Woo Min was hovering like a worried hen or cock as usual, and I was just trying to pretend everything was normal. Normal. Ha. As if anything had been normal since the bond echo bullshit started echoing louder than a club speaker.
And all of a sudden Yu Jin looked wrecked. Pale, sweaty, eyes glassy even though the doctors swore he was now stable. He kept rubbing his chest like something was sitting on it, but he smiled at me anyway, that soft little smile that always made me feel like the biggest idiot for finally loving him this hard.
"Yo you okay?"
"I’m okay, Min," he said for the hundredth time while I helped him onto the couch. "Just tired. Stop looking at me like I’m gonna shatter."
"You actually look like you’d shatter, dumbass," I muttered, dropping down next to him and pulling him against my side. He fit there perfectly, head on my shoulder, hand curling into my shirt. "Twice. In front of me. So yeah, I’m gonna look at you like that until you’re old and gray and complaining about your knees."
He huffed a laugh, breath warm against my neck. "You’re such a romantic at times you know."
"Shut up." I kissed the top of his head, inhaling his scent...still sweet, still omega or Alpha? Didn’t know I didn’t really care much, and I was muted from all the meds. "Rin’s finally asleep. Woo Min’s making dinner or whatever he’s pretending to do in the kitchen. He is finally beginning to accept us. We got maybe twenty minutes before he explodes again."
"Don’t jinx it," he whispered, fingers tracing lazy circles on my chest. "I just want quiet. You and me. No hospitals. No other people. No..."
He stopped suddenly, breath catching sharp.
I felt it before I heard it. His body went rigid against mine, muscles locking up like someone flipped a switch.
"Jin?" I pulled back, grabbing his face. His eyes were wide, panicked, lips parting like he couldn’t pull in air. "Hey, talk to me. What’s wrong?"
"Can’t..." he gasped, hands clawing at his throat. "Breathing....it hurts...."
Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck.
His pheromones hit me like a truck. One second it was soft and familiar, the next it was everywhere, thick and heavy and wrong. Not sweet anymore. Dark. Intense. Overwhelming in a way that made my alpha instincts scream danger even though it was coming from him.
"Jin!" I shook him a little, trying to keep calm when everything in me was roaring. "Look at me. Breathe with me, come on..."
But he couldn’t. He was wheezing now, face turning red, then purple, body arching off the couch like he was fighting something inside.
The air in the room changed. Got heavier. Dangerous.
Woo Min burst in from the kitchen, Rin screaming in his arms. "Appa, what the....oh shit."
"Get out!" I yelled, voice cracking. "Take Rin and get the fuck out! Now!"
Woo Min’s eyes went huge, staring at Yu Jin like he’d never seen him before. "His scent...It’s...."
"I said get Rin out!" I roared, standing up and hauling Yu Jin with me. He was dead weight now, limp and shaking, pheromones pouring out so strong I could taste them....bitter, electric, making my head spin even as my body reacted like it was made to handle this shit.
Woo Min backed up fast, clutching Rin to his chest. The baby was wailing louder, face scrunched up from the overwhelming scent hitting him. "Appa......"
"Go! Call the hospital, tell them we’re coming, but get him out of here!" I was already moving, scooping Yu Jin up and slinging him over my shoulder like a sack because carrying him bridal style wasn’t gonna work when he was thrashing. His skin was burning hot against my back, breath coming in these awful ragged gasps.
Woo Min nodded once, pale as hell, and bolted for the door. I heard it slam behind him, heard Rin’s cries fading down the hall.
I could barely see straight, but I didn’t drop him. Couldn’t. Wouldn’t.
"Hang on, Jin," I grunted, staggering toward the door. My knees almost buckled from the intensity....felt like my lungs were filling with his scent, like it was trying to rewrite my fucking DNA. "I got you. I always got you."
He made this broken sound against my back, fingers digging into my shirt hard enough to bruise.
"Min.....sorry.....I can’t stop it."
"Don’t apologize," I snapped, kicking the door open and hauling us both into the hallway. "Just hold on. We’re going back to that shithole hospital, and they’re gonna fix this."
The drive was a blur. I threw him in the passenger seat, barely buckled him before peeling out. He was curled up, shaking violently, pheromones leaking out the cracked window because even with the AC blasting I was sweating bullets trying to stay conscious.
"Talk to me," I kept saying, one hand on the wheel, the other gripping his thigh. "Stay with me, Jin. Tell me something stupid."
"Shut up...." he wheezed. "It hurts everywhere...."
"Yeah, well, hurts me too, you selfish bastard," I said, voice shaking even though I tried to make it a joke. "You’re trying to kill your boyfriend with your damn smell. Rude."
He let out this wet laugh that turned into a cough, and I almost pulled over right there because hearing him try to laugh through the pain wrecked me worse than anything.
By the time we screeched into the hospital emergency bay, he was barely conscious, head lolling against the window, pheromones so potent the second I opened the door two nurses keeled over like they’d been punched.
"Help!" I roared, hauling him out and slinging him over my shoulder again. "Somebody fucking help!"
People scattered. Alarms started blaring. I saw staff in masks rushing out, eyes wide behind the plastic.
"Clear the area!" someone shouted. "Move the humans back! Code whatever the fuck!"
I didn’t stop moving until a team of what looked like hazmat alphas swarmed us....doctors I’d never seen before, faces serious as hell under their masks.
"Enigma-level pheromones," one of them barked into a radio. "We need the containment wing now!"
I almost dropped Yu Jin right there.
Enigma?
But they were already taking him from me, loading him onto a reinforced gurney, wheeling him fast down a hall I’d never seen before. Not the regular ER. Not surgery. Some lab-looking place with thick doors and warning signs.
"Wait...." I started, lunging after them.
"You can come," the lead doctor snapped, grabbing my arm. "You’re handling the exposure. Anyone else drops dead. Move!"
I ran with them, heart hammering so hard I thought it would explode.
We burst through another set of doors, and there they were Anning, Fan Xiao, Lee Know....all standing in the hallway looking like they’d seen ghosts.
Anning’s mouth actually fell open. "What the actual fuck...."
Fan Xiao stepped forward instinctively, then staggered back, hand over his mouth. Lee Know, still hooked to his IV pole, went pale as milk, eyes huge.
The pheromones hit them like a wave. Even diluted through the doors, it was enough to make Fan Xiao grab Lee Know and shove him back toward their room.
"Get back!" I yelled at them, voice raw. "Stay the fuck away!"
The doctors didn’t stop, wheeling Yu Jin into this sealed room with glass walls and machines I’d never seen. They hooked him up fast, masks on, gloves, injecting shit into his IV while monitors screamed.
I pressed against the glass, fists clenched, watching him arch off the bed, back bowing, this awful sound ripping out of his throat. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
One of the doctors...a woman with gray streaks in her hair...turned to the others, voice shaking behind her mask.
"I’ve never seen this in person. Only read about it. Theoretical. Enigma awakening under extreme stress...."
"Call Dr. Kang," another one snapped. "And Dr. Lim. We need every specialist. Now."
"Enigma?" Anning’s voice cracked from behind the safety line they’d shoved everyone behind. "You’re fucking kidding."
Lee Know, leaning heavily on Fan Xiao, whispered, "That’s... that’s not possible. Enigmas are...."
"Extinct," Fan Xiao finished, staring through the glass at Yu Jin like he was looking at a stranger. "Or supposed to be."
The lead doctor turned, eyes wide even through the mask, voice carrying clear.
"It’s not theoretical anymore."
She looked right at Yu Jin, still thrashing, pheromones pressing against the reinforced glass like they wanted out.
"It’s happening. Right now."
Then everyone....doctors, nurses, Anning, Fan Xiao, even Lee Know who could barely stand....
They all said it at once, voices overlapping, shocked, terrified, awed.
"Enigma."
