64 Dumbstruck

After the scare Rong Yue had when her mother had gone off to the market yesterday, she was reluctant to leave her mother today and even after seeing close to three episodes with her, she still made no attempt to stand up and get ready for her meeting with the Sun Family.

“Yue’er, if your friends are waiting for you, then you have to go and meet them. I’ll be fine here.” Rong Xia said for the third time that morning. Today was a weekend and Rong Yue had previously told her about meeting the Sun family. However, the girl was reluctant to go after yesterday.

“What if you leave the house?” Rong Yue asked worriedly while her mother shot her a half glare. “In other homes, the mother does the worrying. Moreover, I won’t go anywhere without driver Yu and I can’t leave the estate. But it’s exhausting having to stay indoors all day.”

After hearing her mother’s words, Rong Yue became quiet. She had never imagined how lonely it would feel for her mother here, after all, back in their previous neighbourhood, she still had people that she was treating and people that had one matter or the other to bring to her.

“Okay mom. I’ll let you do the worrying.” she said resigned while her mind was swirling with several thoughts of what she could do to keep her mother busy.

Since it was just a casual meeting with Sun Li’s family, Rong Yue wore a casual nude knitted dress that clung to her body perfectly, highlighting her every curve and then packed her hair into a loose bun that made her neck look even more slender and beautiful.

She grabbed a white coat and a black knotted scarf to go along before leaving the house. Like always, driver Yu was there to drop her off and when he offered to take her to her destination, she agreed, after all, it would give her some time to talk with him.

While she was busy conversing with driver Yu on not taking her mom beyond the estate, a certain man in the city was unhappy with the situation as he stared at the short clip of Rong Yue stepping out and putting on her coat.

Even if she was dressed in rags, he was sure that her beauty would still shine. But today, she looked exceptionally happy and delighted as she stepped out. The thought that the little girl could be going to see some young boy immediately made Qin Yichen displeased.

.....

“Ask Yu where he dropped her off after.” he ordered Lu San before hanging up.

After watching driver Yu go, Rong Yue walked to the large gates of the Sun family. Two of the security immediately pulled the gates asides as they remembered her from the other night. After all, a look like hers was hard to forget.

“Yue’er! I asked you to tell me as soon as you got here. Sun Li grumbled as she raced down the stairs to pull Rong Yue into a hug like they hadn’t seen in years.

“Judging by a military family, I imagined that they would have me call you. I didn’t expect that they would let me in almost as soon as I got there.” Rong Yue explained as she hugged her back. The heating of their home was on full blast, immediately pushing away the slight chill she had felt from when she got down from the car.

“Let’s go up, we were just about to have lunch.” Sun Li said and then helped her out of her coat before pulling her upstairs.

Although she didn’t tell her, Rong Yue had made the Little Loli check on Sun Li yesterday so that even though they weren’t able to go, she had to after all be prepared on what it was that Sun Li enjoyed doing before she could decide to help her with studying.

The moment she got upstairs Sun Yan who had just come downstairs on the other side immediately paused in his steps. His eyes took in the girl that was calmly looking around while waiting for Sun Li to climb the last step. With her clear and glowing screen matched against the nude dress, she looked like some young fairy that had descended into his world and gave him a certain urge to keep and protect away from all the evil of the world.

“First brother” Sun Fan called out, helping his brother to snap out of his reverie. However, this time, even his parents had noticed that his reaction to Rong Yue was very different. The both of them looked at each other while communicating with their eyes.

“Whew! How did you manage to climb so fast?” Sun Li groaned as she finally climbed up, panting heavily. Her appearance, quickly breaking the weird atmosphere in the room. Rong Yue raised her brows up in surprise. For someone that was a racer, her physical fitness was terrible.

“Why are you looking at me like that, I usually take the elevator on the other side of the house” she huffed before holding Rong Yue’s hand and pulling her to the table where the rest of her family members were.

Every member of the Sun family greeted her warmly as she sat down on the table. For someone like Rong Yue that had food on the top of her favourite things to do, she didn’t hesitate when they asked her to join them for lunch.

“Miss Yue, have you been well?” Sun Yan finally summoned the courage and talked to her as the servers started to dish the food.

“Have been well. I hope it hasn’t been too hard settling into the normal civilian life?” Rong Yue asked, even though she was talking to him, her eyes had trailed very quickly to the trays of roasted ducks that was being brought in.

Sun Yan followed her gaze and he had to force a smile back when he saw what she was looking at.

“Bring two trays here and let Miss Yue taste our family’s delicacy.” he ordered as he used his hands to wave two of them over.
