77 Final Examinations

A week had gone by quickly and every student in City A high school all had solemn looks on their faces. Qin Yichen drove the car to a slow stop in front of the school, his face looking solemn like the senior class students.

Rong Yue looked at Qin Yichen who looked as if he was dropping her off for some military assignment.

“It’s just my final exams, there’s nothing difficult there.” Rong Yue said with a shrug as she undid her seatbelt.

“Hmmm, I know, my little girl is a genius.” Qin Yichen said with a teasing smile, his eyes moving from impassive to intense.

“I’m just unhappy that I have to return to the capital.” he said and without allowing Rong Yue to digest his words, he pulled her in and kissed her heavily on the lips.

Rong Yue’s eyes widened in shock as she pushed him off while glaring at him fiercely.

“Qin Yichen!!!!!!”

“That was just a goodbye kiss from your man to you. Best of luck, Yue’er.” he responded shamelessly. He had known she was going to push him off, however, he realised these past few days that she had started to see him like he was family.

Now that he had to leave to handle some matters, he decided this was the best way to tell her goodbye.

.....

“Humph! Go and don’t come back.” Rong Yue said as she used her hand to pat her racing heart. Without another word, she dashed out of the car without another word.

Only she could explain exactly how she had felt when he had pressed his lips against hers. Even though she was only eighteen now, she had much more experience with intimacy matters from her past life and having her heart go racing by some rich president was definitely not part of the plans she had for herself.

It was only when she had walked to the school gate that she felt like her heart had finally calmed down.

Although they were going to do the exams in their schools in their city, they were to use the school’s biggest auditorium and external invigilators were going to be sent in.

Each day had a total of three papers, two in the morning, one in the afternoon.

“Yue’er!” Sun Li’s familiar voice called out, pulling Rong Yue out of her thoughts as she looked around. Wu Hao, Song Jian and Sun Li stood together in front of the exam hall and were all waving her over.

“You guys look so chirpy, don’t make people think we have some exam questions.” Rong Yue teased as she joined them. Contrary to how everyone else looked, their group looked really prepared and ready.

Other than helping them study properly, she had set possible questions for them and also gave them areas to focus on. Although she had taken the same test last year, it had been a long time back and even she didn’t want to remember the exact questions so that her friends were not implicated.

“How many times did you answer the sample questions I drew for you?” she asked Sun Li who still had a revision handbook in hand and had gone back to studying it. As soon as she said that, the other people around looked at Sun Li with envy.

Even though her family was the best among the four, the other three were the top best in their year and they were all friends. Even worse was that Sun Li had been studying with them which gave a lot of people the impression that she had some cheat advantage.

Now hearing that some questions were even drawn out for her made them even unhappier.

“The entrance examinations have always depended on how well you study and your luck. After all, being a local champion here means nothing when you are competing against elite students from the capital and other better cities.” Tong Yang said snidely.

Since she and Rong Yue were no longer seatmates, she had also long since torn off her pretentious mask and attacked her when she could. Rong Yue glanced at her and then turned back to look at Sun Li like she had heard nothing.

“I did it three times, even my brothers found some of them challenging and had to check the solution sheet you had given them to answer it.” at the thought of how her two brothers had struggled, Sun Li giggled, full of excitement.

“It’s only normal, it’s been a while, also, with the nature of their careers, they really have a lot more to do.” Rong Yue said and then left her to study. Song Jian also had some small jotting book that he was using for some last minute while Wu Hao and Rong Yue were the only two without any material.

Since her and Wu Hao were studying for a more difficult exam, they had long since finished studying all the possible questions for this and moved to the more advanced ones.

“Teacher asked us to report to his office the moment we are done with our papers on wednesday, I think they need to test us to be sure that we are ready.” Wu Hao told her and Rong Yue nodded as the both of them went on to discuss other matters.

From studying together daily, she had built a relationship with Wu Hao that was in a way more solid than what she had with Sun Li.

While Sun Li was in her rebel phase, she had yet to see the cruelty of the world like the other three had, that childlike view of how the world worked was different from the thoughts of the three.

“We should take a break from studying for it these three days also, it would be better to test ourselves on what we know than some last minute pressure reading.”

“I agree.”

Sun Li was about to bring her note to ask Rong Yue a question when the bell rang for the commencement of the examination. Everyone hurriedly kept away their study materials and got on a straight line file to enter the hall.

Since it was done based on their examination number, the four of them had different sitting arrangements and separated as soon as they entered the large hall that could take 650 students.

The total senior students were barely 200 which gave the external invigilators enough chance to space them out. And after an hour of arrangements, the exam finally started and each student was given two answer sheets and two questions, allowing them to decide which one they wanted to do by themselves.

To make it easy on them, they had paired Language with physics. Rong Yue carefully looked through her questions as soon as they were allowed to start.

English was something she had struggled with slightly back then but after going out and becoming a model that had to work with international clients, she had eventually gotten better at it, also, this time, she read it even more than subjects and so she started with it first.

Like every language paper, they were asked to write an essay on a certain program and then they had a section for multi choice questions.

Very quickly, she wrote a three page article and then moved to her multichoice questions. In an hour, she was already done with her English paper and moved to the physics question. For each paper, they had two hours with a thirty minute break in between. However, since the breaks were usually supervised, a lot of people would rather just use it to gain more grounds.

At the end of the two hours, the invigilators rang the bell for their short break and started the collection of their papers. f𝙧ee𝙬ℯ𝐛𝓃𝐨𝚟𝒆𝘭. c𝒐𝓂

“I’d like to hand over the two papers.” Rong Yue told the invigilator as soon as the woman got to her seat.

The normal reaction to an attractive person in serious settings was usually quite off and the situation was no different for Rong Yue, the woman who had been momentarily stunned by how attractive she was frowned slightly when she heard her words.

“You can’t give up without trying.” she chided softly as she looked at the well arranged answer sheets that were on the left side of Rong Yue’s table.

“I answered all the questions already.” Rong Yue told her politely. And even when the woman shot her a glance of disbelief, she acted like she hadn’t seen it. “Hand over one first.” The woman said and went on to collect all other students’ answer sheets on that row she was assigned to before heading to the front of the exam hall.

After a while, she left the exam hall and came back with the senior teacher of City A high school and teacher Lu.

“This student here.”

Rong Yue looked at the three of them in confusion.

“Rong Yue, why do you want to submit now?” teacher Lu asked kindly, his tone kind and concerned.

“I finished both papers already and only asked if I could hand both in and leave the exam hall.” Rong Yue while the senior teacher looked at the external invigilator to be sure that was what happened.

After getting her approval, the teacher picked Rong Yue’s second answer sheet and looked through all the pages without paying attention to what had been written there.

“All the pages here have been filled up with answers. Also, this young lady is our school’s best student. If she can hand her paper in now, then you have my permission, otherwise, she can just stay here and wait till she can.” the senior teacher said and then dropped her answer sheet.

Hearing their words, the woman was stunned.

“Best student?”
