89 I’m Done.

Everyone, including everyone from the Wang family stared in shock as Qin Yichen got up from the high table and walked to where Rong Yue was standing.

“Do you dare say you have more qualifications than her?” He asked again, his eyes cold and arrogant and the woman that had dared to talk before nodded her head hurriedly before shrinking into her seat.

Rong Yue however shot a warning look at Qin Yichen in anger. She had clearly acted like she didn’t know him, yet, this man was like a ghost that couldn’t be gotten rid of.

“Where do I know you from?” Rong Yue asked as she shot him a glare, Mo Fan who was sitting down with mouth gaping wide at his brother’s action hurriedly ran down.

“Little sister, please don’t mind the Second Young Master, he was just trying to save you from being harrassed just now.” Mo Fan hurriedly said as he stood between them.

He hadn’t expected that his brother who had the best self control and restraint he had ever seen would lose it all for a girl.

Certainly, what he felt for the young girl wasn’t simple, however, it would also cause waging tongue and trouble for this girl if she truly had no family background, after all, it was no small thing to be the one to stand beside a man like Qin Yichen.

“Second young master hates when people try to abuse their power the most, especially when they are nothing more than some mere scheming woman like the one over there, please ignore his words.” He added again and Rong Yue nodded as if her confusion was cleared up before walking away with the other members of the Wang Family.

Qin Yichen shot both Mo Fan and Rong Yue a glance and then looked at the woman that had talked earlier.

.....

“Perhaps, you should consider teaching your wife some basic morals and manners. Elder Wang is one of the best teachers and professors that our country has. It is not yet her turn to point a finger at him.” He scolded and then walked out not bothering to look at the man that had slumped to the chair weakly.

Since he was the one that had ordered his wife to stir trouble, he didn’t dare scold her in public and the both of them could only bow their heads in embarrassment.

Mo Fan’s clarification seemed fishy to this group of rich family that were usually untrusting but it was also hard to believe that some girl that no one knew would be the woman of the second young master of the Qin family.

Coupled with the expression of absolute confusion that Rong Yue had on, a lot of them chose to believe Mo Fan’s words were the truth.

“Yue’er, do you really not know the young master of the Qin family? He had seemed really invested in you when he had said those words earlier,” her master asked as they finally sat down on the seats arranged for them in the banquet hall.

“No, I don’t.”

With her response, all of them let the matter go and very quickly, all the arrangements for the hall was complete, leaving the high seat on the right hand side of the grand elder Pang empty for Qin Yichen.

The event started normally and many exotic dishes were being served while the dancers and performers hired were also doing their display.

After the second dance, grand Elder Pang raised his hand up to show that he had something to say.

“Let the youngsters come ahead and paint, it’s more suitable to the atmosphere.” He said and all the painting masters stood up as soon as he said that.

Rong Yue stood up at her master’s instruction, carrying her painting bag and following him as they walked down to the stage.

The organizers too were swift and immediately placed six other foldable easels there for them.

The entire hall became quiet as they watched each of the six disciples take their stand beside their masters.

Five of them were already known and familiar faces while Rong Yue who was the new face was undeniably the most attractive one also.

“This is not a competition but a presentation of gift and while it might serve as a validation of your skills, you must know that there is no special reward attached to this,” the head of the painting association and also Ning Li master stepped forward and addressed the six of them.

“You are allowed to use any painting style but you must know that the first thing about painting is your grasp of what you want and what we see.” The man said and then retreated.

The other masters all retreated and the six of them sat down on their stools and started to arrange their easels.

Just like her master had said, she could see the arrogance with which Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu carried themselves.

Picking the first rows which had three stools with Ning Li, while the other two picked the second roll that had two stools, Rong Yue was the only one that was sitting on her row.

However, since they were facing the audience and backing the high table, her work was also the one that could be seen by the elders on the high table first.

Without looking at anyone, Rong Yue wore her painting apron where she arranged all her paints and then calmly brought out her tools, arranging the air brushes and calligraphy brushes on the easel.

After she was sure that she didn’t need to bend for anything, she finally started her work.

From the night before, she already decided on what she wanted to do.

In her past life, Bai Lu’s special had always been landscape painting. While she had always preferred to use realism and other forms, Rong Yue had decided to use landscape today with a different twist at the same time.

Not long after they started, Qin Yichen walked back into the hall, his face expressionless and empty like they were usually and the organizers led him to his seat on the high table.

From where he was, he could see Rong Yue’s slender neck and her hands that worked busily. Because of her dainty figure, it was also easy to see almost everything that was happening on the paper in front of her.

“Can she paint? It would be a shame if she doesn’t win this.” Mo Fan whispered, his eyes trained on Rong Yue.

Although she was beautiful and would stir the heart of any man, since he had met her at Qin Yichen’s place first, all of Mo Fan’s feelings towards her was curiosity.

He wanted to know what was special about the girl that had his friend losing his control and also allowing her so close to his heart.

“Only she can come first.” Qin Yichen told him confidently before retracting his gaze and looking at the other contestants.

Since it was for an elder, a lot of them focused on using oil painting which could be considered more difficult to work with and also took more time to dry off.

Rong Yue also, had brought along her oil paintings. However, instead of the one bought off the market stands, her oil paints had all been remade by her mother to make it easier to work with it and safer to be around.

After about an hour, Rong Yue stood up from her stool and then bowed her elegant neck slightly to the people on the high stage as she started to pack up her work.

Since it was the closest work to all of them, everyone of the people on the high table could see the work she had done and even Grand Elder Pang had his eyes wide with surprise and only recollected himself after some seconds.

“Did that young girl paint this just now?” He asked with surprise racking through his old mind.

Although he wasn’t much of a painter, he had spent all his years watching and attending any large painting event and his collection of art was said to be on par to wth the old man of the Song Family.

“Yes grandfather,” Pang Ye said as he watched Rong Yue slender back as she walked back to her seat.

From what he saw now to even Qin Yichen’s reaction to her, Pang Ye was certain that he had made the right choice.

Although the Qin family would never let their heir be with a girl that didn’t have a background, the Pang family had always been different in their own ways and respected abilities and moral standards more than the bloodline in one’s vein.

“Perhaps, our country would have a dark horse now.” Grand Elder Pang said with a sigh, his eyes still locked on the work.

As for the people in the hall, a lot of them felt that Rong Yue couldn’t have done anything amazing in an hour considering that all the others were still seated and still painting with all seriousness.

“You are done?” Elder Wang asked as everyone in their family leaned in to know what happened.

“Hmmm, I’m done already,”
