Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten-Chapter 241: Signing a Contract with the Empress of the Imperial Capital
At noon, Jiang Jingshi personally made lunch for Lin Zhengran in her private kitchen—steak.
While the food was being served, Lin Zhengran’s phone buzzed with a message from He Qing.
The message Little He Qing sent through her smart device had that soft, sweet tone to it:
“Lin Zhengran, when are you coming?”
Originally, Lin Zhengran had said he’d visit them today, especially since Jiang Jingshi was recovering well—but then, Jiang Jingshi came over instead.
So he could only go in the evening.
After replying to the message—
He Qing knew he was busy, so she didn’t press him further.
“Alright then, we’ll wait for you in the room tonight.”
Jiang Jingshi placed her own steak on the table and, instead of sitting across from him, paused to ask:
“Can I sit next to you while we eat?”
Lin Zhengran thought, She really always has that rich-lady aura around her, and replied:
“Yeah, sit wherever.”
Seeing him still fiddling with his phone, Jiang Jingshi took the initiative to cut his steak for him.
Just as she finished slicing it, his phone buzzed again—this time, it really was business from the Jiang Group. Ever since she’d recovered, their work calls had been relentless again.
Lin Zhengran asked curiously, “More calls from Jiang Group?”
Jiang Jingshi looked visibly annoyed, “Yeah. Mind if I take this?”
Only after he gave her a nod did she answer. She said a few brief things to the person on the other end and quickly hung up—it was more stuff about clients.
Lin Zhengran offered, “The Jiang Group always seems to have issues with clients, huh?”
Jiang Jingshi replied out of habit:
“Clients come in all shapes and temperaments. Some of them are hard to read. Right now, a few vendors connected to the Jiang Group’s new product are tough to negotiate with… but never mind that. Let’s eat first.”
Lin Zhengran chuckled:
“You say that now, but once I leave in a few days, you’ll still have to deal with it. I heard you pushing everything to tomorrow on that call. And besides the Jiang Group, don’t we have our own company’s clients to handle too?”
Jiang Jingshi looked at him with a warm gaze:
“You won’t be at the office tomorrow anyway, so I’ll have time to figure out how to deal with them. No rush.”
Lin Zhengran wondered if Omniscience might come in handy now. “Do you have detailed info on these clients?”
“Yeah, it’s all on my phone. Why?”
“Let me take a look.”
Since he asked, Jiang Jingshi pulled up the client info on her phone and handed it to him.
Technically, this stuff was confidential—definitely not for outsiders.
But... Lin Zhengran wasn’t just anyone. She trusted him completely.
Lin Zhengran skimmed through the client profiles. “These are the target clients for the Jiang Group’s new product, right? You’re trying to sell to them.”
“Yeah. These are all business owners from out of province. Inside the province, the Jiang Group has influence and easier deals. But those out-of-province bosses? Their personalities are all over the place.”
Lin Zhengran tested Omniscience on the files—and sure enough, it worked.
No matter the industry, as long as he needed it, the experience and knowledge would immediately surface in his mind.
Pointing at one photo, he said, “This guy—if negotiating with him directly doesn’t work, you could try going through his ex-wife.”
Jiang Jingshi blinked in surprise. “Huh? His ex-wife? Wait, you know him?”
“How would I know some guy from out of province?”
He pointed at the photo—it was a selfie of a middle-aged man in a white dress shirt and slacks, taken during an outdoor trip.
There were picnic items nearby: a blanket, food, and even a vase with flowers on it.
Lin Zhengran said:
“Look—there’s food for two here, like he was dining with someone. Judging by the setup, the other person was also male. But there’s a bouquet of flowers on the blanket, and he’s wearing a wedding ring on his ring finger.”
Jiang Jingshi immediately caught on:
“The flower vase is with his things, so he must’ve brought it. Not his friend. And if a man brings flowers to a picnic while wearing a wedding ring… he must really love his wife?”
Then she smiled slightly, not doubting him, just curious:
“Your logic makes sense, but something feels off. Like, how can you be sure he’s divorced just by looking at the photo? Just because he was eating with another guy? What if his wife just couldn’t make it that day? Plus, some men do like flowers. Maybe he’s the kind who brings them for fun.”
Lin Zhengran didn’t say much—he simply pointed at another detail in the photo.
It was the man’s ring finger.
Jiang Jingshi zoomed in, her pupils dilating in shock. She saw it—the ring he was wearing now was clearly smaller than the old tan line left on his finger.
It was a size smaller, a perfect ring-shaped contrast.
The kind of thing most people wouldn’t notice, but Lin Zhengran had spotted it instantly.
He explained:
“From this, you can tell the man has a wife now, but the ring he wore in this photo isn’t the same one from his current marriage. The mark doesn’t match. He switched it out before going out. Combined with the flowers—he’s probably still hung up on his ex-wife.”
Then he added, “Of course, this is all just educated guessing. But it gives you a direction. The rest can be confirmed with some background digging. Approaching it from this angle might work wonders.”
By now, Jiang Jingshi was getting used to Lin Zhengran’s freakish talent.
He just seemed to be better at everything than the average person.
She nodded. “Yeah, I think it’ll definitely help. Even just the ring detail says a lot. If the sales team adjusts their strategy based on this, we’ll probably land the deal.”
She praised him, half-sighing:
“You really are amazing! I always thought I was good at reading clients, but next to you, I’ve got no edge at all. If I had your skills, I can’t imagine how much smoother my work would be.”
Lin Zhengran reached out a hand. Jiang Jingshi looked confused.
“What is it?”
He replied seriously:
“I didn’t say all that just to help you temporarily. I want to make your future work easier.”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“Hold my hand. Whatever I ask next, just answer honestly. After that, I’ll teach you something. Then reading client profiles will be way easier for you.”
Jiang Jingshi looked at his sincere expression. She didn’t fully understand what he was up to...
But she was his girlfriend now. Whatever he asked, she had no intention of saying no.
“Really? It’s that magical?”
She placed her soft hand in his, fingers interlaced.
“Alright. What do you want to ask, Zhengzheng?”
He asked:
“Jingshi, would you be willing to always stay by my side from now on?”
Her eyes trembled. She was still basking in the afterglow of their earlier kiss, cheeks flushed red:
“Of course. From now on, I’ll always be yours—and only yours. My life belongs to you. I’ll follow you forever.”
[You have successfully signed a contract with the Empress of the Imperial Capital.]
Lin Zhengran let go with a smile. “Alright, now I’ll check a few more clients. Your work’s about to get easier.”
Jiang Jingshi blinked. “That’s it?”
“Yep. It might seem odd now, but you’ll understand soon.”
Lin Zhengran then continued analyzing several more clients. At first, Jiang Jingshi didn’t feel any different—after all, it was just holding hands.
But the more she listened, the more stunned her beautiful peach blossom eyes became. There was this newfound clarity in her mind like never before.
She realized she could actually start keeping up with Lin Zhengran’s thought process!
She was finally beginning to see exactly where the leverage points were with each client.
