Chapter 22: The Event of Hunting Lord Inferno (3) Part IV

Why did she hit his head like a goddamn volleyball!

Even though he felt weary, Wisana explained about the item and its effect to Maysa from the start when he bought the scarf from the stall in front of the dungeon. He told her that, according to Jinnie, it could absorb Lord Inferno’s attacks, including the two new skills he got during the fight.

Throughout his story, the girls felt quite amazed by the man's skills. And they were also impressed with his ability to decide so quickly and his inhuman instincts.

“So, it means that the scarf can turn damage into the fuel for flying?” It sounded more like a conclusion than a question. Her slender hands were caressing the scarf, interestedly.

“That's what Jinnie said. Right, Jinnie?” Wisana asked his personal AI. A second later, a blue window popped out with the information of the butterfly effect scarf on it.

“That is right, Master. The scarf can absorb 100% of fire element attack, but only when it is deactivated, or in other words, not flying. And to activate them, the player needs a skill, or an item to ignite the flame. In master’s case, Rerise skill was the ignition for the blazing flames wings effect.”

“I see.” Maysa nodded understanding, studying the scarf closely.

“It’s so great that you have such efficient equipment like this. If it’s officially patented with the association of items, it’ll be ranked S for sure.”

“Is that so?” Wisana raised his eyebrows.

“I think so, too,” Maysa added. “If the merchant patents it, he wouldn’t even know how to handle the wealth.” She handed the item to Wisana. And their words made him nervously take his first rank S item back. The girls watched him then turned to catch each other's eyes for a few seconds before they could not hold a giggle anymore.

He was so careless when he was struggling with the gigantic boss, but this guy was worried that it might get broken now?!

Maysa sighed before she got up. The dull grey eyes peeked out from the broken window to see that the boss was still wandering around, so she let out another sigh.

“I think we should get going, Wi... Vincent.”

“Huh?! Why?” Wisana yelled.

“Why not? I already got the photos. We don’t have anything to do with this place anymore. Remember that our goal was the photos, not the boss!” After the not-so-friendly reminder, her party could not argue anything more, so he stayed humble. Maysa smiled broadly at that then she turned to Warunya.

“What about you, Orn? Do you still want to stick with us? I know the boss’s hunting this guy, but I have a way for us to get away.”

“Okay. I can’t contact my party if I'm stuck here anyway. So, it’s safer to stick with you guys, I guess.” Warunya replied with a smile.

After the agreement, the girls started to walk out of the room inside the abandoned building. They were on the fifth floor or something, so Maysa’s plan to escape was to walk down the stairs to the first floor, sneaking out of the building by a back door. She was aiming to climb over the dungeon walls to get out of the prison area, using the abandoned building to hide them from Lord Inferno’s sight.

She then stopped walking, because her troublesome buddy did not seem to follow the plan. He stood still, staring at her with those eyes.

“What’s the matter, Vincent? Let’s go.” The clear voice asked, but Wisana shook his head slowly.

“May, I think...”

“I know what you think,” she said as she sighed in weary. “So, stop that. I'll remind you again that your level and that sadistic boss’ are too different, like the abyss and the sky. You're gonna hurt yourself fighting that guy.”

“She’s right, Vincent,” Warunya added. “Even fifty players at level 60 and higher were blown away by just one hit. How will you fight with that thing by yourself?”

“But...” She did not understand how this little smarty had come up with this reckless idea. Also, he started to make that sad puppy face again, it pissed Maysa off. She walked back to confront the taller one immediately.

“Look! It’s way too out of our hands. I know that you’re still thrilled and want to get back at that boss, but you can have your revenge once you’re strong enough, right?”

“I thought you liked the thrill, May.” This stubborn kid still insisted, making this petulant sound to her.

“Yeah, I told you I liked ‘the thrill,’ but I never told you that I liked ‘risking my life!’ And what you’re thinking is exactly the risky one!” She finished with her long reproach, sighing out loudly. Then she snapped her fingers to bring out the screen with Lord Inferno’s information on it, hoping that it could change his mind.

“Look at this info I got from the scanner. The boss is too OP. Even the players with higher levels than you will be crying, too.”

“But May, the boss like this isn’t found in our game on a daily basis, is it?” Hearing this smarty retort made her pause, dead gazing at him.

“Also, how can playing games be fun if we’re worried about how we’re good or not good enough? The game is right there, in front of us, so why don’t we try having some fun with it? You said something like this before, didn’t you?” This time Maysa was the one who was left speechless. The pair of her grey eyes stared at her party then the 18-meter monster outside the window, and she sighed.

Just exactly like what she thought.

Even if she had a hundred lives to spare, it still would not be enough if she stuck with this guy!!!

Looked at him, he was using the hungry puppy eyes tactic again!

No, she had to stop spoiling Wisana for once. She could not let the guy go out there and do something so reckless that it would cause them so much trouble. She finished reminding herself, then she looked up to catch those puppy-begging eyes. This also felt like a son begging for his mom to buy him some toys!

Maysa sighed countless times, her slender hand messing on her brown hair, displeased.

“Damn it. I probably have gone crazy to let you have this!” The words she was yelling suddenly brought a satisfied smile to his handsome face.

“Fine. I'll help you fight the damn boss!”

“Really?!”

“Yeah, we’re party anyway.” Maysa forced out a wry smile, nodding to confirm it to him.

“You’re the best, Maysa!” Wisana pulled the smaller figure into a hug, bouncing up and down with overjoy. Warunya, who was watching them, flinched at that, noticing how Maysa did not look like she minded, plus she always gave way to Wisana to do what he wanted.

Her soft smile suddenly disappeared.

“Alright, that’s enough. If you really want to fight with the boss, we need to have a big plan. And you, be prepared to be labored.”

“Copy that!” The enthusiastic affirmation brought a delightful smile back on her pretty face as she pushed Wisana off her. She then turned to look at the new friend.

“Well, I guess that you’ll have to go on without us. I have to take care of this spoiled brat.”

“Eh? ...er...” Warunya paused.

“You can walk down to the first floor, then climb over the prison wall to get out of here. The back of this building should be clear and have no dangerous monsters around. I think the party system should be in order again once you’re out of the dungeon area,” Maysa instructed her with a serious face.

“Well, I think...” The gentle voice stuttered.

“?”

“I think that...” She paused for a moment, breathing in. “I think that I’ll fight, too!”

“Huh?!” The buddies immediately yelled in unison.

The girl really asked to join the fight?! Was she not just screeching mindlessly when the boss was chasing her out there? Let alone the fight, would she be able to stay calm just to stand in front of Lord Inferno again?

“No, you won’t, Orn. It’s too risky, also, I'm a bit nuts. You shouldn’t trust me.” Wisana disagreed, worrying about her. But she shook her head, rushing in to grab him by his arms and shake them, too.

“I need to repay you, Vincent. Please let me help!” Her voice sounded so determined that Wisana sent an awkward glance at his party to ask for her help.

“Orn, listen. This Vincent guy is a freak!” His smarty party blurted out, making Wisana’s mouth twitch with the urge to ask; what kind of conviction was that?!

“The point is, there are not many people that can follow this guy’s speed.”

“You’re implying that you’re one of those people who can, right?” Warunya interrupted, sounding quite upset. Her round eyes looked fierce, gazing at Maysa that made her feel a shiver down her spine. She was dripping sweat as she quietly poked at Wisana, sending out a signal for help. And of course, Wisana was not dumb enough to miss that.

He held up a hand to pat softly on Warunya’s head, but that made the girl frown even more. Her face was reddened, her feet stepping back away from him.

“Please stop treating me like a child, Vincent.”

“Look, Orn. There’s a very high chance that we could die from this. I don’t want you to get involved and lose your EXP because of me messing around.” Hearing that made Warunya shake her head, brushing the embarrassment away. She stepped up again, facing the masked man, making him the one who had to draw back and blush.

“I’ve already gotten involved since you jumped in between me and the monster!”

“But...” Wisana still tried to convince her.

“Whatever. I'll join you in the fight. Didn’t you just say that we should just have fun with the game and that the game can’t be fun if we’re scared?”

“Uh...well...” Wisana could not argue with her. Her round eyes showed a spark of determination to him, before they glanced at the other girl with irritation, that Maysa had no idea what she had ever done to upset her!

“Alright.” Wisana gave up. “You can go with us, but I can’t promise you that I’d be able to look after you all the time.”

“You don’t have to.” Warunya smiled so brightly after she had just won the argument.

Maysa smiled, too. But it was a dry smile as she felt so weary.

Damn, these two were so stubborn. They felt exactly like the same person!

“Okay.” She interrupted. “So, Orn, may I have a look at your information and abilities window? Vincent, your new skills, too. We need to make a plan.” After her commands, they called a meeting, sitting in a circle in the room, bringing out their screens, and showing them to Maysa.

The pair of grey eyes read through the information quickly as she quietly processed it.

Alright, let’s go get back at the monster!

The event Get the shot if you dare had ended.

And the event of Hunting the Lord Inferno had started now!!!
