Chapter 88: Saint Chaos Body

Lux’s body slid to the ground, one of his arms twisted at an unnatural angle, agony coursing through him as he struggled to regain his composure.

’This one is mutated.’ The thought flashed through his mind as he attempted to rise to his feet using his remaining arm. Pain surged through him, threatening to make him lose consciousness, but he refused to surrender. He spat out mouthfuls of blood yet managed to finally stand upright.

The mutated orc slowly approached, emanating a palpable pressure. Lux chuckled at the advancing monster, his teeth stained with blood, giving him a haunting appearance.

A quick examination of his body revealed the extent of his injuries: a few of his ribs, despite being reinforced, were broken. His right arm was shattered and bent at an odd angle.

Despite the overwhelming pain, a smile broke across his face.

"My luck is really good," he mused. "To think I’d encounter a mutated orc here. But your mutation isn’t complete yet."

As he spoke those words, Lux activated a healing spell. A silvery white light enveloped his body, and as if time had rewound, his injuries vanished, leaving his arm perfectly intact. He flexed his fingers, clenching and unclenching his fist.

The mutated orc frowned, pausing for a moment before continuing its approach. It didn’t matter; it would crush this dangerous human soon enough. Besides, the orc doubted Lux could use the healing spell numerous times—his reserves of prana weren’t limitless. As a mutated orc, its intelligence and strength surpassed that of a normal orc. They were called "mutated" because they exceeded their original rank, unlocking their full potential. Some lower-level monsters could even wield a rudimentary form of Law after mutation, unlike named monsters who could use Law like other races.

As Lux had noted, this orc had not perfected its mutation yet. There were various ways for monsters to become mutated; the occurrence could happen naturally, but the most common method was through cannibalism—killing and consuming the hearts of other monsters. Even with this method, success was not guaranteed. This orc had adopted the second method, and the reason it hadn’t perfected its mutation yet was simply that it hadn’t fully digested the energy gained from consuming monster hearts. Given a little more time, it could. It planned to kill this young human male and consume his heart to further evolve. With that, he would become the king of this area, eventually moving on to conquer others, breaking free from this cage. Yes, he understood he was trapped; no matter how vast this pocket world or forest was, it was still a cage. They were kept here, raised like livestock for the young humans to use for training. How infuriating! He would grow stronger to escape this prison and unleash destruction outside.

Thanks to the peculiar human who bore their scent, the orc had learned the truth. Just within days, he had embarked on the path to reclaiming his freedom.

"Oink! Oink!" [Human, you will become my meal.]

Even though he didn’t understand the words, Lux still replied defiantly.

"Sorry, but no!" He flexed his body, glancing at the distance where his wand lay on the ground, slightly bent from the earlier strike. He wouldn’t rely on it; he would face this monster using only his bare hands.

Having observed the mutated orc and endured the brunt of its attack, Lux quickly grasped the nature of its mutation: it had entered a berserk mode. His goal was simple: dodge the monster’s onslaught and identify its weaknesses to land powerful punches infused with reverse healing. This property of decay would gradually wear down the orc’s defenses, ultimately leading to its defeat.

With a clear strategy in mind, Lux didn’t wait for the orc to reach him. He launched an offensive, activating his previously developed unnamed skill. This ability not only enhanced his physical strength to an extreme degree but also manifested white gauntlets around his fists. These gauntlets bore the unique property of decay, a result of his reverse healing technique. Lux decided to name this spell: Saint Chaos Body. In this state, he would become the nightmare of monsters, the punisher destined to cleanse the world of their presence.

Upon seeing the white gauntlets, the mutated orc frowned, its demeanor shifting to one of heightened vigilance. Lux sprinted toward it, his speed seemingly unchanged from before. But as he closed the distance, he unleashed the full force of his enhanced speed, the white gauntlets cutting through the air as he aimed for the monster’s left flank.

Swoosh!

The orc dodged with deadly accuracy, its instincts honed by countless battles.

Pow!

In retaliation, it threw a powerful punch of its own, but Lux was ready. Under the influence of his spell, he felt his reaction speed sharpen, making time to appear slow. He timed his movements perfectly, waiting until the last possible moment to dodge the orc’s attack. Using the recoil from the punch, he propelled himself backward, creating distance before counterattacking.

The two fighters moved with blinding speed, exchanging blows that echoed through the forest.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Lux found himself being overwhelmed as the orc’s ferocity increased. Injuries began to pile up on his body, but he persevered, using his healing spell on himself to mend his wounds before continuing the fight. Each time he felt the sting of pain, he would channel his energy into healing, refusing to let it deter him.

Slowly but surely, Lux began to gain the upper hand. By meticulously analyzing the monster’s attack patterns, he learned to predict its movements. He could now retaliate effectively. With each successful strike from his white gauntlets, he felt the tide of battle shifting in his favor. The gauntlets, infused with the property of decay, landed on the orc with increasing frequency, something that had previously seemed impossible.

As the gray light emitted from the white gauntlets seeped into the orc’s body, he could see its defenses weakening. The once-unstoppable force that had charged at him with reckless abandon now stumbled, its movements becoming sluggish. Lux seized the opportunity, launching a flurry of strikes aimed at the monster’s vital points. Each punch was calculated, aimed to inflict maximum damage while simultaneously draining the orc’s strength.

’’Oink!!!" [You slippery human!]

The mutated orc roared in frustration as it staggered back, its eyes blazing with fury. It launched itself at Lux with a desperate charge, but Lux was ready. He sidestepped the attack with agility, countering with a powerful uppercut that connected with the orc’s jaw. The impact reverberated through his arm, but he felt the surge of energy from his gauntlets flowing into the orc, weakening it further.

Lux pressed the advantage, his determination unwavering.

Swoosh!

He ducked under a wild swing from the orc and launched a rapid combination of jabs and hooks, the white gauntlets glowing brighter with each successful hit. The gray light continued to invade the orc’s body, causing its muscles to weaken and its defenses to crumble.

As the battle wore on, Lux could feel the strain in his own body. Each injury he had sustained was a reminder of the ferocity of his opponent, but he refused to give in. The pain transformed into fuel, igniting his resolve. He pushed through the fatigue, his focus sharpened by the knowledge that victory was within reach.

With one final surge of energy, Lux gathered his strength for a decisive blow. He feigned to the left, drawing the orc’s attention, then quickly pivoted to the right. In a fluid motion, he delivered a devastating punch directly to the orc’s midsection, the force of which sent shockwaves through the creature’s body.

’’!!"

The mutated orc let out a guttural roar, the sound a mix of anger and despair as it stumbled backward, clutching its abdomen. Lux could see the effects of his attacks taking their toll; the once-mighty beast was now on the brink of collapse.

Summoning every ounce of his remaining strength, Lux charged forward one last time.

’’Die!"

With a fierce yell, he unleashed a powerful strike aimed at the orc’s head. The gauntlet-covered fist connected with a resounding crack, and the orc crumpled to the ground, defeated.

’’Huff! Huff!"

Breathing heavily, Lux stood over the fallen beast, his body trembling from exertion. The fight had been grueling, but he had emerged victorious. The gray light from his gauntlets flickered and faded, but the thrill of triumph surged within him. He had faced a formidable opponent and had overcome the odds, proving that he was not just a fighter—he was a force to be reckoned with.

As the forest fell silent once more, Lux took a moment to catch his breath, reflecting on the struggle he had just endured.
