Private Marriage, Secret Love-Chapter 207: The Most Ruthless Eye for an Eye
Her hand grabbed Ethan Lancaster, stopping his advance. He tried to move on top of her, and her grip tightened.
"Still pretending to be asleep?"
Raina Reddington didn’t answer. She just pushed his hand away.
Ethan Lancaster placed his hand back on her waist, but he didn’t try anything else. ’Just holding her like this is nice, too,’ he thought.
「The Regalia Palace.」
When several people burst into the private room, the chaotic scene inside was jaw-dropping. The quickest ones raised their cameras and started taking pictures. Seeing this, the people behind them also aimed their lenses at the pair who were still tangled up together.
Gwen Sharp should have felt a sense of shame, but she had drunk more than Cameron Fairchild. All she knew was that even though her whole body felt like it was about to fall apart, the drug’s effects still controlled her, making her crave more.
They were half-dressed, with wine glasses and clothes strewn at their feet. The air was a mixture of the sharp scent of alcohol and the fragrance of desire. After taking photos from every angle, the group filed out.
Cameron Fairchild was more drunk than Gwen Sharp; after all, he had drunk quite a lot before Ethan Lancaster even arrived.
When he opened his eyes, he heard the sound of sobbing. Annoyed by the noise, he snapped impatiently, "Shut up."
Gwen Sharp sat to the side, clutching her clothes. When Cameron Fairchild saw her face clearly, it was as if a bucket of cold water had been dumped over his head. A chill ran through him as he bent down to pick up his shirt from the floor.
His expression was hideous. The last vestiges of his consciousness returned, and Cameron Fairchild felt as disgusted as if he’d just swallowed a fly.
Gwen Sharp was heartbroken, her shoulders trembling uncontrollably. "Mr. Fairchild... W-what are we going to do?"
"What do you mean, ’what are we going to do’?" Cameron Fairchild stood up, his legs a bit weak. He lifted his foot and kicked Gwen Sharp’s shoulder. "Who told you to come here? The sight of you makes me sick, you bitch!"
Cameron Fairchild had never looked twice at Gwen Sharp. Even with his chaotic private life, weren’t all the women he slept with cleaner than her?
Cameron Fairchild, so noble and aloof, now felt as if he had been utterly defiled. So many women threw themselves at him; had he ever not been picky?
"Mr. Fairchild, please think of something. With us like this... Fourth Master, Fourth Master will definitely want nothing to do with me anymore."
"Get out!" Cameron Fairchild kicked Gwen Sharp hard. "Slut."
When Raina Reddington woke up in the morning, Ethan Lancaster wasn’t in the room. The bathroom was stocked with fresh toiletries, but she went downstairs still wearing yesterday’s clothes.
Ethan Lancaster was unpacking the takeout breakfast item by item. Looking up, he saw her coming downstairs and pulled out the chair Raina Reddington used to always sit in. "Time for breakfast."
"I’m not hungry."
"You had your stomach pumped last night. You can only eat something light today."
Raina Reddington walked over and glanced at the food, her expression returning to its previous coldness.
Ethan Lancaster pressed on her shoulders, making her sit down, and handed her a bowl of vegetable and lean pork congee. "Eat."
"I have to go to the hospital after I finish eating."
"Can your body handle it?"
Raina Reddington took the spoon from Ethan Lancaster’s hand. "It was just getting my stomach pumped, wasn’t it? It’s not like I have some major illness."
Ethan Lancaster rested his hands on the back of her chair without sitting down himself, watching as Raina Reddington ate the congee spoonful by spoonful.
"I’ll pick you up when you get off work."
Raina Reddington swallowed a mouthful of congee that was still almost scalding. She frowned and said, "Why would you be picking me up?"
"What’s that supposed to mean?"
Raina Reddington looked at him with a feigned innocent expression. "Fourth Master, you don’t actually think that just because I stayed here one night, I’m going to live here from now on, do you?"
Ethan Lancaster had, in fact, thought exactly that. "Weren’t things good between us last night?"
"Don’t forget, Fourth Master, I have a boyfriend..."
The words had barely left her lips when there was a commotion at the door. Seth Sinclair opened it and entered first, followed by a furious Cameron Fairchild.
Ethan Lancaster saw him rush in, his clothes disheveled and his hair a mess. It was impossible to tell which bed he’d just crawled out of. Ethan frowned in displeasure. "What are you doing here?"
Cameron Fairchild’s gaze was fixed hatefully on Raina Reddington, who was calmly eating her breakfast. He strode forward a few steps, stopping in front of Ethan Lancaster before announcing, "I slept with Gwen Sharp."
Seth Sinclair gasped in shock. Upon hearing this, Raina Reddington glanced at Ethan Lancaster out of the corner of her eye.
’I just want to see his reaction. His best friend sleeping with the woman he’s doted on for years. How exciting!’
’I might not mean enough to Ethan Lancaster, but Gwen Sharp certainly should, right? I refuse to believe he can tolerate this.’
Ethan Lancaster was standing with his back to Raina Reddington, so she couldn’t see his expression. She blew on the congee in her bowl, carefully lifting it to her mouth spoonful by spoonful.
Seeing her like this, Cameron Fairchild wished he could go over and tear that well-disguised mask right off her face.
Ethan Lancaster rested a hand lightly on the back of the chair. "If you slept with her, you slept with her. She’s just one more. It’s no big deal."
This took Raina Reddington by surprise. To her disappointment, Ethan Lancaster showed no intention of fighting Cameron Fairchild to the death.
"Don’t you think something is off about this?" Cameron Fairchild took a step closer, looking down at Raina Reddington, who was still drinking her congee. "There was something wrong with the alcohol sent to the private room. Gwen Sharp was tricked into going to The Regalia Palace. And just by coincidence, right after we all had a drink, you were called away by a phone call. Every single part of this was linked together. If any one of them had gone wrong, what happened today wouldn’t have been possible!"
Her mouth still felt bland; nothing had any taste. Raina Reddington pushed the bowl away. "So what you’re saying is... this has something to do with me?"
"You made me sleep with Gwen Sharp. You’re trying to drive a wedge between me and Fourth Master, aren’t you?"
Raina’s face was a mask of pure, fearless innocence. "I have that much power? I know what you’re going to say next. You want to tell Fourth Master that me being captured and drugged by you was all my own design, don’t you? That I even had someone prepare a video, all with the goal of driving you two apart, right?"
Cameron Fairchild’s expression shifted multiple times. "Are you daring to say what happened between me and Gwen Sharp has nothing to do with you?"
"That’s enough," Ethan Lancaster cut Cameron Fairchild off. "She stayed here last night. She didn’t know you were at The Regalia Palace. She couldn’t even leave the house. How could she have drugged you?"
"Exactly..." This was what Cameron Fairchild found most suspicious. "She has someone backing her. And that person is most likely targeting us."
Raina Reddington concealed the smile in her eyes. "That’s right. So you should all stay far away from me in the future. It would be best if we never saw each other again, so you don’t get plotted to death by me."
After speaking, she pushed back her chair and stood up. "I’m going to work now. I see Mr. Fairchild looks exhausted—a clear sign of overindulgence. I suggest you go back and get some rest. Oh, and when you have a free moment, you could go to the hospital for a check-up."
As Raina Reddington walked past the two men, her tone shifted again. "But as for whether Miss Sharp is ’clean’ or not, you should probably ask Fourth Master. He’s an expert on the subject."
