Progenitor Vampire: I Have Many Skills!-Chapter 673: Flower-Loving Green Snake
After entering the forest, Matthew used his keen perception to find his prey; as a result, he was able to find them before other teams and tell when to attack.
First, he headed to the area where he sensed a couple of snakes.
The type of snake they asked him to bring, as its name suggests, loves flowers, but not just any kind of flower, only poisonous ones. During his short stay at the academy, he remembers a class where they explained numerous details about these special beasts.
After all, even though the vampire world has been heavily affected by the enmity against Humans and Devourers, that doesn’t mean there is no danger with these beasts.
Although they are less powerful than the former, they have been in this world for too long and have always been dangerous, especially those that have managed to evolve.
The Flower-Loving Green Snake is one of them. Originating from a classic Green Snake, this peculiar snake evolved to possess various powers.
’Floral Camouflage,’ thought Matthew, looking down from the top of a tree at a vast garden of flowers that looked beautiful but were deadly dangerous.
The first ability of these creatures is floral camouflage. It is a fantastic and ridiculously powerful camouflage, difficult to track if you don’t have complete knowledge or high perception.
At first glance, this beast is invisible because it burrows underground using the surrounding roots and flowers, remaining on high alert.
The roots of the flowers are not strong, so they can easily break through them when prey appears and attack it from behind. This is its most basic, yet deadly, modus operandi.
The biggest problem with these creatures is not their camouflage, but the fact that their entire bodies are completely poisonous. The same is true of the flowers that surround them: they are all toxic, and even breathing in their scent could cause serious internal problems, as it is impossible to know what type of poison each one contains.
You may encounter one with venom that will paralyze your blood, another that will solidify it. Some have illusion venom, paralysis venom, venom to turn you into rock... It is impossible to know what kind of venom it will have, as all the flowers look the same.
Two myths explain this. The first is that, before its evolution, the snake, being so poisonous, transmitted its venom to the flowers on which it rested, turning them into poisonous flowers. The belief in this myth stems from the fact that the green snake is among the most poisonous animals in the world.
The other myth says that the first snake became addicted to eating flowers and didn’t realize it had been eating poisonous ones. Still, it was so powerful that it not only resisted the poison but also mutated, and now its entire body is toxic, poisoning the flowers around it.
Matthew thought the second myth about its evolution was more likely, simply because there are historical records that could support it. Ten million years ago, he didn’t pay much attention to these things; he had enough problems fighting Eternals and powerful people all the time.
This snake has the peculiarity that its venom is not just one type, so it is impossible to know how to prepare for it in advance, unless you observe it for a long time and it reveals itself.
Now, there is a very simple way to find out, but at the same time, it is very difficult to see. The master who explained this beast to him at the time said: If it is alone and you cannot use your vampiric power to kill it, then don’t bother fighting, because there are poisons that they have when they are alone that could kill even a person with more than 100,000 power.
If it is accompanied...
’It’s time to attack, even if you can’t use your vampiric power. Because when they are accompanied, it means that their poison is not as potent; they are intelligent and prefer to be accompanied so as not to die.’
He remembers it very well because it was a martial arts teacher at the First Academy who said it, and also because, right in front of him, two green snakes lurked at the bottom of a sea of poisonous flowers.
He grabbed the sword hanging from his waist and, after looking at it to think of a plan, smiled. Suddenly, his right arm moved backward, bringing the sword in his hand... He was going to throw it.
Quickly, his arm moved forward with powerful force, and the sword shot out of his hand. It smashed through the leaves in front of him, and the air hummed.
The force used was enough to pierce a couple of mighty tree trunks, let alone measly leaves!
Even...
The sword stuck firmly into the ground... But it did not remain stuck in the earth.
A loud, sharp cry was heard nearby, and the enormous body of a snake, more than 4 meters long and about 45 centimeters wide, similar in color to the nearby flowers, came into view.
The sword was stuck in its mouth, opening a dangerous wound.
It didn’t understand what was happening... Its body writhed in pain as it tried to remove whatever was causing it so much pain.
Matthew appeared just then, behind it, and grabbed it by the tail. His legs were firmly planted, his muscles bulging, and he lifted the beast with all his strength.
It weighed over 300 kilograms, but he was able to move it easily. In a circular motion to the sides and then one upward, he then slammed it hard against the ground.
"KYAAA!"
The painful cry of another beast echoed at that moment, and its camouflage was broken. This beast had been trying to get close to Matthew from the moment it saw him appear.
It had no intention of saving its companion, but instead wanted to kill its enemy.
The last thing it expected was to be attacked so frantically, with its companion’s body!
Pain shot through its long, scaly body, but it was only just beginning.
Matthew ran quickly and struck it hard on the underside of its head. It was the blow of a vampire with Emerald-rank physical strength; it was no ordinary blow.
The snake felt the pain run through its entire body, from head to tail. It was like feeling its own blood burn, but with pain. Its long, scaly body shuddered as it felt a wave of similar blows across its entire body.
The marks from Matthew’s fist were firmly exposed on its flesh, and the scales began to break...
Just then, Matthew raised his hand and grabbed forward.
Where the fangs of the snake he was attacking had been, there was now nothing. It was as if it had suddenly vanished.
So his hand aimed two heads above the previous head, and his left leg rose, crushing two steps to the side...
Suddenly, everything became clear in front of him.
The two snakes were attacking him... one still had his sword stuck in its head. The other... seemed unharmed.
Matthew smiled as he stopped their attacks.
"Do you know what happens when a lie is discovered?" he asked casually, with a sly smile, and raised his eyes. "There will be punishment," he sneered.
