Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 637_1
Benjamin Robinson asked, "What do you want the bowl for?"
"Someone said he bled a bowl’s worth of nosebleed, and I don’t believe it. I need to see it for myself," Glades Horne said coldly. At the same time, he ordered his bodyguards to give Little Seven another beating, one that wouldn’t stop until he bled a bowl’s worth of nosebleed, scaring Little Seven into crying out desperately to Benjamin Robinson for help.
Glades Horne suddenly grabbed Little Seven and said ominously, "Exaggeration won’t work in front of me, Glades Horne. If you really want to sue, I will accompany you to the end, but don’t forget, you were the one who started the physical altercation! You’re the one who provoked the incident. If it went to the courtroom, who will win or lose is still an unknown. I would advise you to go back and tell your master that if you want to be an enemy of Glades Horne, please send someone with some wit, not a ruffian hooligan like you!"
Little Seven’s face went pale.
Glades Horne let go of his collar, flung him back into the chair, then contemptuously threw the one thousand yuan onto him and said coldly, "Take your medical fee and leave."
This incident, he felt, targeted him. Also, he had a hunch that this was somehow linked to the incident a year ago when Julia was kidnapped.
"You..."
Little Seven wanted to say something else, but with a fierce glare from Glades Horne, he dared not speak any further.
Quickly picking up the one thousand yuan, Little Seven cursed under his breath and left. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Once he was gone, Glades Horne signaled his bodyguards with a glance; understanding his intention, they followed Little Seven out.
Little Seven’s departure signified the resolution of the incident.
Benjamin patted his good friend on the shoulder, saying, "Glades, it’s such a waste for you not to be a police officer." Benjamin himself was quite stern, yet Little Seven hadn’t been afraid of him. However, just a few words and glances from Glades Horne had frightened Little Seven, who no longer dared to be arrogant.
Glades Horne pursed his lips and remained silent. He glanced at James Horne, then turned and walked out toward the chief’s office.
"Big Brother."
James quickly followed him.
Though James had sobered up, he was still a bit tipsy, his steps seeming light and unstable.
He followed Glades Horne at a brisk pace.
He was a bit anxious, worried that his big brother would be angry with him.
After they left the Police Station, Glades Horne got into his car.
"Big Brother, I’m sorry, I..."
James caught up and kept apologizing to Glades Horne through the car window.
Glades Horne still didn’t look at him and only said coldly, "Aren’t you getting in the car, or would you rather walk home?"
James came to his senses, hurriedly opened the car door, got inside, and sat beside Glades, feeling a bit nervous. He rarely had the chance to ride in his big brother’s car, much less sit with him. He thought that after his mother’s incident, his big brother would not bother with him anymore.
On the way home, the brothers remained silent. James wanted to initiate a conversation, but upon glancing at his big brother’s cold and handsome face, he didn’t dare to say anything.
「Soon, the Rolls-Royce returned to the Horne Family villa.」
By then, the sky had already darkened. A few stars were scattered across the black night sky. The moon appeared and disappeared intermittently, sometimes revealing its crescent shape before being swallowed by dark clouds.
"The task I assigned to you a year ago can be slowly investigated following this incident. I have an intuition that both incidents were premeditated, and the person behind the scenes is the same," Glades Horne said in a low voice to James as they got out of the car.
James was taken aback. He had not considered that his own involvement in the assault was a trap set by someone else, much less that it could be related to the kidnapping of Julia from a year ago.
Glades Horne didn’t elaborate further. It was just his intuition; everything still required their investigation.
From the moment Adele lost her innocence, then Julia’s kidnapping, to the issues in several branch offices, and now James’s assault, he always felt that there was a powerful enemy behind the scenes, targeting him relentlessly and even going after those close to him to get to him.
After getting out of the car, Glades Horne headed straight into the house.
Inside, the family was all there.
Upon seeing him enter, they casually remarked, "Glades, you’re back," but no one asked how James was.
With a glance at Julia, who winked at him, Glades knew she hadn’t told the family about James’s predicament.
Due to Pheobe Rogers’ actions against Ivan, the family despised her. Now that she had ended up in jail, everyone felt she got what she deserved. Only Gian Horne harbored guilt, feeling he had failed both Pheobe Rogers and Mila Anderson. And with James, the son born of Pheobe Rogers, it became even harder for him to hold his head high within the Horne Family. In truth, no one blamed James; it was his own sensitivity and unresolved issues that led him to mope privately, to drink away his sorrows at the pub, and ultimately fall into Silvia Baxter’s trap.
James didn’t enter the house with Glades Horne. Once Glades Horne’s silhouette had vanished into the Main House, he started his own car and left the Horne Family villa.
Glades Horne approached Julia, where little Ivan lay in his gliding bassinet, grinning at Glades Horne when he saw him.
Adele was holding little Jimmy, playing with his tiny hands. Little Jimmy seemed to enjoy his mother’s touch, looking content.
The almost two-month-old baby looked different from when he was first born. Little Jimmy no longer completely resembled Noah Reyes; Adele’s features began to show in him.
Regardless of whether he resembled Noah Reyes or Adele, it was undeniable he was destined to be handsome.
With delicate skin that seemed as if it could be broken by a mere puff of air, he was irresistibly lovable.
Adele would occasionally say that if he had been a daughter, her beauty would surely bring kingdoms to their knees.
With Glades Horne back, dinner at the Horne Family commenced.
After dinner, Julia stealthily tugged at Glades’s clothing. When he looked at her, she gestured outside with her eyes. Understanding her cue, Glades took her away from the home to the luxurious Heiting Garden, back to the little home that belonged just to the two of them.
Little Ivan, however, was left behind by his parents, entrusted to the care of two nannies.
A new nanny for Jimmy Horne had been hired.
Everyone knew why the former two nannies had been dismissed by the young mistress. Now, no one dared to look at little Jimmy with biased eyes; they all treated him equally, and even the masters dared not show the slightest favoritism.
