Protagonist! Please Stay Away from Me 2!-Chapter 22: My Decision Is...
When I woke up, my whole body ached badly. Every inch of me felt tender, straining with the memory of what we’d done.
What was I even expecting?
After all that sex, of course I’d be sore. Still, the ache carried a strange satisfaction—a quiet, heavy reminder of the night that had stretched endlessly between us.
Ruby was holding me in her arms, my head resting against her chest. Her skin was warm and smooth, a soft contrast to the soreness blooming through me.
I could feel the steady beat of her heart under my cheek, slow and calm, as if nothing in the world could disturb her now. I lay there for a long while, half awake, half lost in the haze of what we had shared. Her breath brushed through my hair each time she exhaled.
Sunlight streamed through the window and hit my face, sharp and insistent, forcing my eyelids open.
The brightness stung my eyes, the way my body still throbbed with a dull ache. My lips burned faintly, and when I touched them, I could almost feel the ghost of her mouth still there. My jaw twinged, my throat was dry, and my mouth hurt more than I remembered. I smiled faintly to myself—Ruby could be rough without meaning to be.
When I looked down, my skin told the rest of the story. There were bruises blooming across my collarbone, faint pink marks trailing down to my ribs and stomach. Some were soft and small, others darker, imprints of her lips and teeth. They didn’t feel like wounds, more like fragments of memory written into my body. I traced a few with my fingertips, half in disbelief, half in awe.
Ruby’s arms tightened around me instinctively, her hold firm but not suffocating. Even in sleep, she didn’t let go easily; her strength was something that always surprised me. It wasn’t just her muscles but the way she anchored me, even now, when the world outside was already awake.
For a moment, I thought about getting up, maybe finding some water or a clean shirt. But then her breath hitched softly, and I felt her shift closer, murmuring my name like a secret. The sound of it undid me. My body protested, but my heart gave in. So, I stayed—aching, marked, and inexplicably at peace.
"You are awake?" A sleepy voice entered my ears.
When I looked up, I saw Ruby looking at me with sleepy eyes. She had a small smile on her lips as she rubbed my head lightly.
"Yes, I... am awake..." My voice was so hoarse that it hurt to even swallow my saliva.
Ruby smiled, "I was very rough with you, wasn’t I?" The memories of our rigorous sexual sessions passed through my eyes, cascading down a waterfall.
"I-I... was the one... w-who a-approached you... I came to you... because I wanted to forget everything. To f-feel something... real... something that c-could make me feel this world..."
That was my reason.
Only reason.
Did I use Ruby for this?
Maybe.
"So, did I deliver it properly? Did I make you forget everything?" Ruby asked. She had the same soft expression on her face.
I nodded, smiling in gratitude. "You d-did... I haven’t felt... anything like that before." I took a deep breath. "I have a question..."
"Ask away. You know, I like this nature of yours. You ask a lot of questions—which shows that you care, and you feel what’s happening around you." Ruby wiped off the stray tear that fell down from my left eye. "You want to feel something real—free from a lot of things. I don’t know what you are, Sharon. Human? Elf? Vampire? Monster? But you are one hell of a strong person." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"So, would you... have l-like me... if I was still Alex?"
"That’s your question? If you really want an answer, then yes. But remember one thing—I don’t like men or women—I have lived a long lonely life. No spouse, no kids. Just me. My form of attraction is way beyond body. I would have liked you if you were Alex. Not that person." Ruby’s words were sincere, and so did her eyes. There was no trace of lie in her words. "Although, I would have been the one to fuck you. Sharon, I would have find a way to grow a dick to fuck you in Alex’s body."
I laughed at her words, coughing lightly as my throat was dry.
Ruby helped me to sit up. I hissed in pain as I sat up. Argh, my bottom was really hurting.
"It seems I was too rough on you," Ruby muttered. She had guilt written all over her face.
I shook my head and said, "No, Ruby. It’s fine... I am g-glad that... you did this to me... It made me realize something... about what my choice... would be..."
She handed me a glass of water which I took with my right hand. With a single go, I drank all the water. Ruby wiped the water droplets from my face with a napkin.
"What is your choice, Sharon?"
My eyes turned cold as I looked at the wall in front of me. A scoff escaped my lips, fingers twitching.
"My choice? No, it’s a decision." I closed my eyes for a moment before opening them again. Turning towards Ruby, I looked into her eyes. "I will... burn down the whole thing."
An unreadable look appeared in Ruby’s eyes. She opened her mouth slightly, her pink tongue glistening in the sunlight. Composing herself, she asked, "What are you going to do, Sharon?"
I smirked, "I will destroy The Bureau. Burn it completely—I will... leave nothing... not even ashes."
Ruby lowered her eyes, her arm tightening around my waist.
"Is this really your decision?"
I nodded, "Yes, it is. I will burn them... to create to identity for me... I will be someone n-new after I destroy them. I will fuck them." I gritted my teeth as I glared at my hands. "I. Will. Fuck. Them. I will fuck their subsidiaries! I will destroy them."
"Why? Why do you want to destroy them?" Her voice was barely above the whisper.
"Because that’s the only thing... I can do now. We both... know that they are responsible for all this. So, yeah—I will hold them responsible. I will... destroy them completely." Ruby raised her head as she looked into my eyes. "Do you want to help me? Do you... want to take revenge?"
Determination seeped into her eyes.
"Yes, I... want to. But—"
"But what?"
"They are too strong. There are a lot of them."
I scoffed, "Then, we will find our own group." My voice softened. "I... know you are scared of them... but hiding won’t solve anything. Tell me, how long can you hide from them?"
Ruby nodded lightly. "You are correct, Sharon."
I grabbed her hand, wrapping my fingers around her. "Join me, Ruby. I know it’s difficult—"
"I will join you."
"What?" I looked at her in shock. How could she join my so easily? Accept my words without even hearing my plan?
Ruby smiled, "Honey, I will help you. We will fight together." Her words made my heart warm.
"Is that so?" I whispered. I took a deep breath. "You are sure? Because you might regret this."
"I won’t regret this. Never. I am tired of hiding too."
I laughed lightly at her words. "Then, I promise one thing too. I won’t let you regret this. The Bureau will be erased by... me—by us."
"I believe you, honey."
