Pursued by the Top Grade Saintess after Engagement Annulled-Chapter 310 - 308: Dog Eat Dog—Dragging Someone Down Even at Death’s Door
When things are abnormal, there must be a demon involved. Xia Feng dared not check the status of the two individuals before him; instead, he took two careful steps back while clutching the Void Cauldron.
The Death God was genuinely gritting his teeth with anger, while the Demon beside him still looked confused.
The Demon even showed a worried expression and leaned over to check his breath: "Death God, are you alright?"
The Death God intended to feign severe injury to lure Xia Feng into a strong attack, hoping to seize the opportunity to corrupt Xia Feng directly.
However, Xia Feng threw him off by not acting according to expectations. Upon seeing the supposed injury, he had no intention of advancing and even retreated slightly.
As a result, this foolish Demon only made things worse.
The Death God remained in a sorry state, half-inhaling without exhaling, though being a skeleton, what air did he really need?
The Demon, however, came over with a face full of worry. Yet, the moment he got close, his expression turned sinister.
"Since you’re about to die, don’t waste all that energy."
"Once I devour you, I’ll surely avenge you by tormenting and killing that boy."
The Demon actually thought the Death God was harmed by Xia Feng’s Life Energy and showed a greedy smile the moment he leaned in.
He opened his huge mouth and bit into the Death God’s Death Qi.
That Death Qi could corrode surrounding life, but it seemed to have no effect on the Demon, and even made the Demon Fires burning on him more vigorous.
The Death God, not actually dying, was infuriated by the big bite taken out of him, temporarily forgetting about Xia Feng and attacking the Demon directly.
In their view, Xia Feng was merely a demigod, barely reaching the Martial God Realm through some secret technique to enhance cultivation.
Moreover, this secret technique surely has side effects; without their intervention, Xia Feng would soon perish on his own.
Xia Feng’s aura showed signs of exhaustion by now.
Standing behind the Void Cauldron, he refrained from intervening in their battle and squinted his eyes, seeking an opportunity.
The Demon and Death God grappled fiercely, fighting even more brutally than Xia Feng had fought before.
Seizing an opportunity, Xia Feng enveloped the Death God with layer upon layer of tender green leaves.
Xia Feng revealed a smile, his aura surging as he invoked the Life Cage.
Note that the Life Cage technique is meant to drain life force, but for the Death God, it holds no effect.
Xia Feng, now about to ignite the Divine Fire, having leveraged the Nine-Turned Exquisite Heart to reach the Martial God Realm, acquired greater ability to convert different Great Daos.
One such ability includes altering the inherent attack method of techniques.
This means that the Life Cage Xia Feng used did not siphon the Death God’s life force; rather, it infused a large amount of life force into the Life Cage.
These forces acted like the most potent acid, burning the grey mist surrounding the Death God into bits and pieces.
The Death God’s weakened body shrank by two sizes, his skull losing its pristine jade-like whiteness, turning pale with bits of black aura seeping out.
Nearing his end, instead of staring at Xia Feng, he fixed a fierce gaze on the Demon beside him.
The Demon felt a pang of surprise, then noticed the Death God’s aura suddenly surge, seemingly using some secret technique.
He clamped the Demon with all his energy, using his last bit of breath to corrode the Demon down to half-dead.
Behind them, Xia Feng scratched his head, wondering if he had inadvertently picked up an opportunity.
The Demon was truly gasping, more harmed by the Death God than by Xia Feng’s Void Cauldron.
With furious eyes, he saw Xia Feng approaching to harvest his life.
Scarlet blood energy converged in his eyes as his broken body suddenly expanded.
Xia Feng noticed something peculiar and immediately halted, witnessing the Demon’s body swell up, akin to an inflated balloon about to explode with energy.
His heart skipped a beat as he quickly protected himself with the Void Cauldron, thinking it wasn’t secure enough and withdrew into the Spirit Light Flying Boat.
Then, a thunderous explosion occurred, with dense demonic qi and death power lingering in the air.
The distant Demon Emperor and Death Emperor could not evade this energy assault.
Merely grazing the edge forced the two Celestial Tier Ninth Layer Martial Sovereigns to spit blood, their aura notably diminished.
The Demon Emperor looked unwillingly in that direction: "I wonder how the Great Xia Emperor’s Son is faring?"
The Death Emperor also glanced over: "Given the situation, he’s surely dead."
"Even though we’re so far away, just a slight touch nearly killed us, and he’s not a true Martial God."
"Even a genuine Martial God would struggle to survive this."
The Demon Emperor nodded slightly, yet he felt a nagging unease as if something bad was about to happen.
"It’d be ideal if they both perish together, then there’d be no one left on the continent to restrain us."
The Demon Emperor, eyes twinkling, turned to the Death Emperor: "How about you go check the situation over there?"
After years of battling, the Death Emperor knew the Demon Emperor well, perhaps even better than the Empress of demons. Seeing the Demon Emperor’s scheming eye movements, he guessed the latter was plotting something.
Thinking briefly, the Death Emperor sneered: "So, do you think the Great Xia Emperor’s Son isn’t dead and want me to finish him off, or lure me into a trap?"
"Either we both check it out or neither of us does."
They exchanged glances, each unwilling to concede, clicking tongues and moving together toward the center of Death Canyon.
The rift in Death Canyon had deepened significantly, the mountains above largely leveled by the explosion, contrasting starkly with their former state.
But these practitioners of the Great Dao of Death and Great Dao of Demon felt hints of many Great Daos in the clearing.
Understanding dawned on their faces, yet they dared not stop and ponder, instead hastening toward the explosion’s heart.
The more they walked, the denser the Dao energies became.
Surrounding energies gradually dissipated, revealing the chaotic scene within.
A Great Cauldron lay overturned on the ground, devoid of any movement or indication.
Their hearts sank, for they clearly saw earlier that the Great Cauldron was something Xia Feng had brought forth.
The Death Emperor opened his trembling mouth: "If we surrender now, do you think there’s still time?"
