Queen Mommy's Six Genius Babies Found the CEO Daddy-Chapter 218: Each with Their Own Thoughts
Aiden stood at the front door and didn’t go in right away. Instead, he kept sniffing himself, checking whether there was any unfamiliar perfume scent on him.
He didn’t know why Julia had suddenly called him home, but it was unlikely to be anything good.
Before he could push the door open, it swung open from the inside.
Julia stood in front of him, staring coldly. "I thought you weren’t coming home tonight. So you still remember you have a home."
Aiden immediately forced a smile. "Honey, if I didn’t come back, where else could I go?"
"Didn’t you say there was so much going on at the company that you couldn’t leave no matter what? Then how did you manage to leave today? Looks like I really need to start thinking carefully about whether what you usually say is true or not."
Aiden was startled. Normally, Julia never questioned him like this. It was already late, yet she had called him back—why?
He asked cautiously, "Honey... are you in a bad mood?"
"Do I look like I’m in a good mood?" Julia said coldly. "Aiden, you’ve really disappointed me. If you didn’t want to see me, you could’ve just said so. Why did you have to use work as an excuse to avoid me?"
She must have heard some rumors.
Aiden stepped inside quickly, closed the door behind him, set his briefcase aside, and took off his coat.
Julia reached out to take it from him as usual, but she deliberately leaned in close and sniffed. "Where did the perfume smell on you come from?"
Aiden frowned. Perfume?
He sniffed himself several times but couldn’t smell anything.
"Why aren’t you saying anything?" Julia pressed. "Hard to explain?"
He laughed awkwardly and said casually, "You know how it is at the office—men and women everywhere. I’ve got female subordinates too. Sometimes they come over to ask about data or documents, and the papers pick up their perfume. It probably rubbed off on me without me noticing. Don’t overthink it."
Julia let out a faint, mocking laugh and said lightly, "Actually, I think I might’ve smelled wrong just now. There doesn’t seem to be any scent on your clothes."
Aiden froze, a chill running down his spine. "Honey... you were joking with me, right?"
"Something unpleasant happened today."
As she spoke, Julia turned around and hung up his coat, then put away his briefcase.
She didn’t look like anything serious had happened, which made Aiden feel a bit bolder.
"Honey, what happened? Don’t be scared—tell me everything. If someone bullied you, I’ll make sure to get revenge for you."
"The emerald necklace you gave me," Julia said calmly, "I gave it to someone else."
"What?" Aiden blurted out. "You gave it to someone else?"
Julia shot him a sharp look and said in a low voice, "You heard me. I gave it to someone else."
"Oh, come on. I thought it was something serious," Aiden laughed. "It’s just a necklace. It’s fine—worst case, I’ll buy you another one later."
Julia’s heart grew colder.
She knew exactly what kind of man Aiden was. He didn’t have little money, but he didn’t have an excess either—and he was extremely stingy.
He spent money when he had to, but never on outsiders. At most, he spent it on his own family.
A gemstone necklace worth tens of millions—she had clearly told him she gave it to someone else, yet he said it was no big deal. If this were the past...
"Honey, don’t be mad anymore. I’ll buy you another one later. Things at the company have been getting busier lately. You know that even though I’m not at the headquarters, the branch office has its own headaches. Sometimes I have to work overtime, so I can’t be with you in every way. I hope you can be understanding—everything I’m doing is for our future, and even more so, for our child."
When he mentioned Richard, Julia looked at him. "What kind of path do you think our son will take in the future? You never really trained him properly when he was young—if anything, you spoiled him too much. Since the Hilton Group is no longer an option, shouldn’t you be focusing on preparing him to inherit your assets someday?"
Although Aiden wasn’t exceptionally capable, his name was still fairly well-known in business circles.
He was smooth in dealing with people and did have real ability—otherwise, he wouldn’t have lasted so long at the Hilton Group.
"You’re right, honey," Aiden said. "But our son is on his honeymoon with Jessica right now. You know he has no interest in the company—he’s more drawn to the outside world."
"Interests can be cultivated," Julia replied coolly. "If you leave him completely on his own, what can he possibly accomplish? We’re still young now, but what about when we grow old?"
Even Aiden could tell something was wrong. Julia wasn’t acting like herself. Normally, they never even talked about their son, but tonight she seemed unusually sentimental and troubled.
"Honey, you—"
"You’ve been working hard with all the overtime these past few days," Julia interrupted. "Go upstairs, wash up, and get some sleep."
Aiden hesitated for a moment but eventually went upstairs.
Mrs. Mars walked over quietly and asked in a low voice, "Ma’am, why didn’t you just say it directly?"
"You should understand what Sophia said today," Julia replied calmly. "She was speaking with hidden meaning—deliberately letting things slip to me. If I had confronted Aiden outright and our relationship cracked, who do you think would be happiest?"
"Ma’am, but—"
"There is no ’but.’ I’m middle-aged now—my youth and beauty are fading. I don’t ask for much anymore. I only want what’s best for my child. As for that flashy little vixen—whoever she is—you keep a close eye on things for me. Since you’re in the house, watch all of his movements carefully. I can choose to stay silent, but I will never be willing to be a fool."
With a heavy heart, Mrs. Mars nodded. "I understand, ma’am. Should we tell the young master and ask him to come back?"
"No need. If he wants to play around outside, let him enjoy a few more days. There won’t be much time left for that anyway. When he comes back, I’ll force him to start learning some things. I remember there’s a blue-and-white porcelain piece that’s a few hundred years old in the house. Wrap it up for me—I may need it in a few days."
"Ma’am, that’s the master’s prized possession. If you—"
"If the family is gone, what’s the point of keeping such things?" Julia said firmly. "Do as I say. You won’t be wrong."
Mrs. Mars had no choice but to comply.
Upstairs, Aiden stood in the bathroom, still uneasy.
This was his first time having an affair. In the past, he’d had the desire but never the nerve.
But his wife’s behavior tonight was far too strange. Had she found out?
He had already taken care of things at the company and even paid hush money. Anyone smart enough wouldn’t say a word.
So what was going on?
Before long, Julia came upstairs. By the time Aiden came out of the bathroom, she was already lying in bed.
They lay on the same bed, yet each harbored very different thoughts.
It seemed that from now on, he would have to be much more discreet with his actions.
