Chapter 85 - The Banquet (4)

"Greetings, everyone. My name is Lenora Quill of Quill Industries. Tonight I would like to play a Northern folk song for a special person I met tonight. I hope you enjoy it." Nora said over the microphone-like device. Talan noticed that Kadir had motioned for him to come over and talk to him and the others.

'I should ask if this is real? It just seems too good to be true.' Talan thought as he steeled his nerves. He could not take another set back. He would walk into the sea and never return if these people betrayed him. Talan got up as the music began to ring throughout the hall. It was loud and drew everyone's attention successfully. This was planned by them. It was impressive.

'Channel Mother. You can do this, Nora.' Nora thought nervously. Thankfully, Talan took the bait. He began to have a conversation with both Kai and Kadir as Liem guarded the conversation. He would distract anyone that might walk up.

Thankfully, music was mathematics. That much did not change. The same things as rhythm seemed to be a part of nature. Monil was a great resource when writing the sheet music. The music started perfectly as Nora began to nervously croon a rewritten version of "Mad World" by Tears for Fears with Monil. They had everyone transfixed by their performance as it was unheard of to have a female singer. There were a lot of things Nora was doing this for; her daughters, her right to artistic expression, and as a distraction. She watched the men at the table hoping that Kadir and Kai were able to get through to Talan without bringing any unwanted attention from Lara Hudai. When they finished the song, there was a lot of applause. She went She headed back to the table, noticing all the men watching her as she walked back to the table. She held her head high, the music started again to an upbeat Calloran track as the parted crowd eventually closed awkwardly. Lara looked at the bubbly woman bemused.

'It looks like her males handle everything for her, and that she's too busy with arts and crafts to run the empire. Perfect.' Lara thought as she watched.

Lara could not help to notice her usually disinterested son's piqued interest. Talan was withdrawn and more focused on writing his own medical programming for Hudai technologies. He was currently engaged in a conversation with one of Lenora Quill's spouses, a son of a research group. She was glad to see her reclusive son, who worked in the most boring division of Hudai Technologies, involved in a conversation. She could not make out what they were talking about, but she really hoped he was inquiring about Lenora.

'If I am going to leave the keys of the empire to someone. If I, or her sons could not produce an heir for me, then I am glad I can keep one of my more pleasant sons around. The Quills could give me a female heir, and I could be rid of him.' Lara thought.

"She supports those goals and our ventures. And so much more. We believe that we will be successful and we have a multi-generational plan. Would you feel like you would be happy to join us?" Kadir asked him. Nora held everyone's attention long enough for them to have a brisk but meaningful coded conversation with a lot of subtext between. Talan thought it over. There was a high probability that his mother would force this anyway.

He saw through Lenora's act right away. His mother was fooled because she thought she was smarter than everyone else. He understood the meaning behind the song perfectly, whereas his mother was just dumbstruck at the novelty. That is why Hudai Technologies was mainly run by the males of the family. Lara liked to be in power, and they gave her the appearance of having it. Nora sat down on Kadir's giant lap and looked at Talan and smiled. "What do you think?" she tilted her head and looked towards Kadir and Talan, who were having their discrete discussion.

"I think it was really good. Nora." Talan addressed her by her shortened name, which they had worked out as a code for whether he agreed to come to Quill Industries.

"Thank you. Now a test." Nora said, smiling as she leaned over and kissed Talan right on the lips. Talan was shocked as his body responded again. He kissed her back awkwardly. Nora slid into his lap and deepened the kiss and pulled away gradually. "Very good," Nora said. Nora smiled at Talan. His pants grew really tight. He noticed a subtle fragrance hitting his nose. It was not appalling.

"What do you mean by doing that?" Talan whispered sharply, her shifting form in his lap was giving him pleasure. He was shocked that he liked it. He did not like being touched by others. His face flushed. Nora gently smiled and gave him an apologetic look. Her hands ruffled his hair. His face felt incredibly hot, his lap stirred like it was morning. His whole body stiffened in embarrassment.

"That was the test. I do not think you want me to get up yet. Forgive me for this, it is just to cover our actions." Nora quietly whispered in his ear and kissed his neck. His eyes widened as his breathing hitched as she trailed her mouth up to his ear. He felt the tension that had pooled in his groin release suddenly in pulses from her gentle ministrations on his neck, and her natural shifting in his own lap.

"I like the shy ones like this one. They are fun to break in and train. I will send a request for him tomorrow, yes? We will negotiate your dowry payments? Yes?" Nora said, impersonating Leilanna's inflections and mannerisms in an accented vapid sounding common tongue. She felt disgusted with herself.

"I agree," Lara said and smiled. She had a feeling like she had got the deal of her lifetime. She felt his impressive reaction to her and felt her physiological response of arousal. She felt guilt towards him.

"I will spend time making it up to you. I am so sorry." Nora whispered in his ear. She was glad there was a mutual attraction, but thought that being in a crowded room that was full of men might not be the best idea. She planted another long kiss on his lips. "I look forward to our ceremony," Nora said.

"Kadir, Kai, Liem, I think it might be best to head home to relieve Cerez, what do you think?" Nora said to her spouses. It felt awful knowing that her behavior was acceptable and that worse would have been tolerated. With Kai, it was accidental. This she had to do purposefully. "He has been at home with the kids all night," Nora continued. She looked at Talan and smiled slightly, her face flushing from stress.

"Lenora, thank you for the birthday 'cake' and present. I look forward to getting your communication tomorrow." Lara said. Nora nodded and pulled herself up from Talan's lap, who was blushing with a very confused look on his face.

'I am going to take a long shower to wash this night away and open the wine. It is ready enough,' Nora thought as she gave him one last look. They proceeded back to their table to collect their belongings, including the Teere, and were stopped by Seril.

"Greetings again, Seril" Nora said. "Thank you for the introduction. Will you be at the Yuro Banquet next weekend?" Nora said.

"Yes, I will be." Seril said. " We have to get home to the children, but I will see you there. Yes?" Nora said, smiling. They walked past the man who was standing there dumbfounded and collected their things and called for their transport to be pulled to the front of the building.

"I am glad things went well with the conversation. We should leave quickly." Nora said in Korean. She noticed Seril staring at their group still.

"I think I have attracted a pest. I am sorry for what I am about to do. Ask him to give us some privacy after we start." Nora said again in Korean in a flirty tone. She started to make out with Kadir and Liem. Kai cleared his throat and looked at Seril.

"Give us some privacy." Kai said, his voice booming. Seril stood there watching the scene as if he was hypnotized by it. He felt his pants tighten at his groin and snapped out of the trance he was in. He became aware of his tenting pants.

"Yes." Seril answered after a few moments and then awkwardly excused himself. He disappeared into the venue's door. The transport arrived a minute later to Kai's relief. The trio were still passionately kissing. Kai cleared his throat as the chime went off, repeatedly notifying them that the transport had arrived. The quartet walked out of the building and into their transport. The door swished close. Nora boarded feeling weak in the legs. She felt her hips being grabbed by massive hands as she was plunked down on his lap. Nora turned her head to look into Kai's amber eyes. He looked like a predatory animal that had caught its prey.
