Raised From The Wild-Chapter 300: The Birthday Banquet
Marx escorted Amaya to the banquet hall. They left Queen Zanzara and her assistant in the pavilion. Marx could tell that Zanzara was fuming. Her resolve to mask her anger with an expressionless face resulted in her face contorting awkwardly.
When they arrived at the banquet hall, a few dignitaries were already inside and surrounded Crown Prince Ibarra to greet him on his birthday.
"Marx!"
Amaya heard a familiar voice. Both she and Marx looked back at the same time.
Marx frowned when he saw Fiona walking toward them.
She was wearing a toffee-colored trench coat over her gown.
"If I knew that you were also invited, we should have come together," Fiona said as she hooked her hand on the crook of Marx’s arm.
Princess Amaya glared at the hand that was holding Marx. Her reaction did not escape Marx’s eagle-like eyes. His lips curled slightly. He thought that Amaya looked cute.
Marx casually freed himself from Fiona’s grasp, but she was like an octopus that did not want to let go. She used both of her hands to hold onto Marx’s arm.
"Riyanah, you are here!" Princess Consort Nelida approached the three of them. Her gaze darted from Riyanah who was standing on the other side of Marx and holding his arm and then to Amaya who was standing on his other side.
’Interesting.’ Nelida thought as her eyes glinted.
"I didn’t know that Riyanah is acquainted with Marx Skylar." The princess consort was looking at Riyanah but she stole a glance at Princess Amaya.
Amaya felt uncomfortable. She wanted to pull Marx close to her but there were many people and she did not want to make a scene. She felt her chest tighten and was angry at Fiona for getting close to Marx. She was also angry at him for he did not try his best to break free from Fiona’s grasp.
"Excuse me, I’m going to check on Dad." Amaya did not wait for anyone to react. She left and headed to where her Daddy Ibarra was.
"Amaya, wait..." Marx wanted to go after Amaya when the Princess Consort stopped him.
"Marx, why don’t you stay and accompany Riyanah? Since both of you seemed to know each other well, you should stay with her so she would not feel uncomfortable. She is my honored guest."
"Your Highness, Marx used to be my fiance, unfortunately, he was indebted to Princess Amaya and dumped me." Fiona sounded pitiful and wronged.
Marx gritted his teeth. He just realized that Fiona was shameless.
On the surface, Princess Consort Nelida looked at Riyanah with sympathy, but deep inside, she was thinking of ways how to use Riyanah against Amaya.
"Behave yourself, Fiona. I am your future brother-in-law." He snapped at her before directing his gaze to Princess Consort Nelida.
"Apologies, Princess Consort. It would not be appropriate for me to accompany Fiona. I supposed she needed to prepare for her performance later." Marx looked around and found Fiona’s manager and her assistant. He beckoned the two of them and they did not have any choice but to come forward.
"The banquet would be starting soon. I saw in the program that Fiona will be doing the opening number. Help her prepare." Marx instructed the two before leaving and looked for Amaya.
He found Amaya speaking with a tall and muscular man. The man looked to be in his thirties or late twenties. He looked familiar but Marx could not remember where he met him. He was smiling at Amaya while she looked up at him and talked in a friendly manner.
Marx pursed his lips. Was Amaya getting back at him for what happened earlier? Why does she appear chummy with that man? He approached the two of them. His hands that were in his pockets were tightly clenched.
"Oh, hi Marx. This is the Duke of Ereseo. He is asking me to be the godmother of his firstborn."
Marx suddenly remembered when the Ferarri that Amaya was driving nearly collided with the black Bently that the Duke and his wife were riding to the hospital.
Marx extended his right hand to the Duke.
"Congratulations for having a son, Duke. Is he your firstborn?"
"Thank you, Marx. Yes, he is my firstborn. You and the Princess are invited for his dedication." Duke Ereseo’s eyes twinkled.
Their conversation was disrupted when there was a commotion at the door. The herald announced the presence of the King and Queen of Ra-Iya.
After King Ralden and Queen Zanzara entered, he announced the entrance of the Crown Prince who was the birthday celebrant.
’No wonder, Daddy suddenly disappeared. We were talking with the Duke of Ereseo a while ago.’
Ibarra entered together with the Princess Consort, the twins, the two girls, Camilla and Riyanah, and little Prince Yohan. Crown Prince Ibarra paused and was looking in her direction. He gestured for her to join them.
Marx nodded at the Duke of Ereseo and escorted Amaya to where the Crown Prince’s family was standing and waiting for her.
"Didn’t someone tell you that you are supposed to enter together with your Daddy Ibarra?"
"No one told me. I thought it was only Daddy Ibarra."
Amaya increased her stride length and arrived in no time at the entrance of the banquet hall. She crouched down held Yohan’s little hand and walked gracefully alongside side her family.
Princess Amaya was wearing a silver dainty gown that hugged her curves. A small sapphire crown adorned her head and an elaborate sapphire necklace complemented her sweetheart neckline. Her hair was half braided and pulled into a flower bun at the back. A few curls cascaded on both sides of her temple hiding her earlobes. When people looked at her, they would notice the brilliance of the crown and the necklace.
The Crown Prince, Princess Consort Nelida, and the twins were wearing matching ensembles of blue and sapphire while Camilla, Riyaha, and Yohan were wearing white with accents of sapphire.
"Sister, you looked radiant tonight." Donello shifted his body closer to Amaya and complimented her.
Danella has a huge smile on her face. She was walking beside her brother and thought that he was complimenting her. But when she turned her head sideways, she found out that Donello was talking to Princess Amaya and not her.
