Raised From The Wild-Chapter 359: The MVP
Princess Amaya, feeling embarrassed, said to Chancellor Gray, "I believe I may have entered the wrong car."
"No problem. I’m currently on my way to Hotel Amore, and I’ve informed your head guard that you’ll be accompanying me," Charles mentioned casually.
Princess Amaya let out a soft hum in response. Her attention was quickly drawn to the sound of her cell phone notification. Upon checking, she discovered a message from Vasquez informing her that their car was closely following behind.
The princess studied Charles from her peripheral vision. She wondered why she kept bumping into him.
"Are your legs feeling better? Have they fully recovered?" Charles Gray turned to her with a concerned look and asked in a soft and caring voice.
"Yes. The cramps are gone, and I don’t feel weak anymore. Thank you for asking."
"You are amazing, Princess! You are even faster than the gold medalist of the men’s 800-meter dash." Charles Gray sincerely praised her.
Princess Amaya blushed then her laughter echoed through the air as she recounted her childhood memories. "When I was three years old, my father, Ibrahim, started training me to run on the beach. We would run together every day, gradually building my stamina. As I grew older, I began running with my pets. The wolf, with its incredible speed, and the tiger, even faster, pushed me to run at my full potential to keep up with them. In the jungle, speed is essential for survival. Without it, one becomes easy prey for the many meat-eating predators lurking in the shadows."
"It must have been difficult for you, Princess." Charles Gray said sympathetically.
"It is not. It was actually fun." Princess Amaya had a distant look in her eyes as she mused. "I’ve realized how much I miss those carefree days spent with my animal friends. Participating in this sport has also been beneficial; it compelled me to endure a rigorous three-month training in the forest."
"That’s good. By the way, the awarding for the 800-meter dash is postponed to tomorrow. Are there other events that you are participating in?" Charles asked. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"None. The event today is the last. Is the closing ceremony not impacted by the incident today?" She took another look at Charles’s profile when she asked.
Charles responded with a brief confirmation that it was still scheduled for Friday.
An awkward silence ensued. Princess Amaya did not know how to continue the conversation, so she busied herself with her cell phone.
"Can I have your contact number to share updates on the incident today?" Charles did not forget his original goal while he had Princess Amaya in his car.
The princess showed him her QR code so he could scan it. Charles sent her a friend request, which Princess Amaya accepted.
"We are here." The driver announced.
Princess Amaya expressed her gratitude to the chancellor. She graciously exited the car after one of her guards courteously opened the door.
At night, as she lay sleeping on her queen-sized bed, Princess Amaya felt a stirring in her slumber. In her half-awake state, she thought she saw Charles Gray by her bedside, watching her. Then she felt a warm sensation on her cheek. Groggily, she opened her eyes to see Marx peering down at her. She knew it was just a dream; she smiled before drifting back into a serene slumber.
Princess Amaya was honored as the Most Valuable Female Athlete on the closing day of the ’Battle of the Titan’. She looked stunning in her traditional Lireyan attire, which included a beautifully crafted wrap-around skirt adorned with intricate embroidery, a stylish white sash draped over her right shoulder, and an elegant high-collared blouse. To complement her outfit, she wore a striking golden hair ornament and fan-shaped gold earrings.
Her appearance resembled that of a goddess who had gracefully descended from the heavens to walk among mortals.
When Princess Amaya received the award, Adelle Black was green with envy. That award should have been hers if not for the presence of the despicable Princess of Lireya. This was her only chance of getting the award, as the next Battle of the Titans would be in two years, and she would be out of school at the time. Her hatred for Princess Amaya went a notch higher because she robbed her of her dream of becoming the Most Valuable Player.
Adelle’s fury bubbled to the surface as she watched the award being presented to someone else. "How can her luck be so inexplicably good?" Adelle seethed with bitter resentment, her nails unconsciously digging into the flesh of her palms as her eyes blazed with anger.
"Take a deep breath, Adelle. You’ll have the opportunity to confront her. Don’t forget, your engagement with Charles is on Sunday. She and the other medalists will be there. You can humiliate her then," Scarlet, Adelle’s best friend, urged her.
Princess Amaya, standing on the stage, was beaming and all smiles. She raised the golden trophy in her hand and then took the microphone to say a few words.
"This trophy is dedicated to my family and to the people of Lireya, and to my Daddy Ibrahim. It was his love for sports that inspired me to follow in his footsteps. It was also he who trained me and taught me from a very young age the importance of discipline and hard work."
When Princess Amaya descended the stage, Prince Raquim, her brother Donello, and even Stephane came and offered her a bouquet of flowers.
"My sister is so awesome!" Donello shouted in front of the camera before hugging his sister.
In the grand entertainment hall of Asteria Palace, Prince Ibarra wore a somber expression on his face. He knew that he could not compare with Ibrahim because it was he who raised her for fifteen years but he still felt terrible when Amaya only mentioned Ibrahim’s name for the entire world to hear. After all, the father written on her birthcertificate was Ibarra and not Ibrahim.
King Duncan let out a heavy sigh as he caught sight of the sour expression on his son’s face. He slowly approached him and gently patted his shoulder, hoping to offer some comfort.
"Son, it is only right for Amaya to acknowledge Ibrahim because they had been through thick and thin and he was her biological father. Guard your heart and do not let envy take root. It is enough that Amaya mentioned her family in her acknowledgment." King Duncan said in a serious tone before he moved to the Defense Minister to discuss something.
Before the crown prince could ponder on the wisdom that his father shared, he felt another tap on his shoulder.
"The First Princess is in the limelight now and she is looking down on you!"
