Raised From The Wild-Chapter 364: The Engagement Party: Future Father-In-Law
The banquet hall’s enormous wooden double doors swung open, revealing a formidable sight. A dozen men dressed in black filed in, led by a dignified figure in his late forties. He strode confidently, emanating a powerful and dangerous aura that commanded attention.
The reporters and spectators in the area instinctively cleared a path for the entourage.
Defense Minister Adolf Black strode with a commanding posture, his back held straight as he nodded in acknowledgment at the guests who warmly greeted him.
Charles Gray strode purposefully and quickly to meet his future father-in-law. As he approached the defense minister, he executed a deep, respectful bow, displaying great reverence for the formidable figure of Uropa.
As the defense minister and Charles Gray approached, they stopped near the area where Princess Amaya and Prince Raquim were standing. The Princess of Lireya carefully observed the Defense Minister’s demeanor. From her vantage point, she could distinctly discern his features, which appeared strikingly different from the distant and limited photos she had seen on the internet. Adelle bore no resemblance to her father. Princess Amaya guessed that Adelle probably inherited her looks from her mother, about whom no information could be found online. Despite Ren’s efforts, there seemed to be a complete absence of any details about Adelle’s mother.
Adolf Black possessed a slender face with a subtle angularity that falls somewhere between a rectangle and an oblong shape. His high cheekbones added distinction to his countenance. His eyes were dark, sharp, and set deeply, giving off an intense gaze. His nose was prominent, jutting out and slightly curved at the tip, with a defined bridge. His dark brown hair is neatly styled in a side part, and he sported a thin, mustache. His overall expression exuded a strict and intense demeanor.
Princess Amaya couldn’t help but let her gaze linger on him, and in that fleeting moment, Adolf Black turned his eyes towards her. As their gazes locked, she felt an intense scrutiny, as if she were the prey being observed by a predator preparing to strike. The middle-aged man seemed to look through her soul with that look.
Before the princess could withdraw her gaze, Charles Gray blocked her line of sight. He escorted his future father-in-law to the VIP table in front of an elevated platform where the engagement ceremony would take place later.
Princess Amaya watched the group intently. If she was an ordinary woman, she couldn’t have gotten over the lingering fear that one could have after gazing into the piercing eyes of the group’s leader, akin to an eagle’s stare. But Amaya was no ordinary woman. Adolf Black’s stare brought back a distant memory from long ago, a memory she thought she had forgotten.
She and her Daddy Ibrahim had settled on the island for a few months, so she was over three years old at the time. She was playing at the grassy patch atop a hill when suddenly, a massive eagle swooped down from the sky.
Princess Amaya was chasing after a butterfly with vivid blue wings that shimmered with iridescence. She was dazzled by the beautiful insect, whose color seemed to change when she looked at it from different angles. She was so lost in the beauty of the flying blue gem that she did not notice she had strayed too far from where her father had left her.
She was oblivious to the danger that was approaching her. She only noticed it when a shadow fell on the butterfly, causing it to change color into dark blue. When the toddler looked up, she saw a massive bird swooping down at her, with piercing eyes that caused her to scream in fright. She felt a sudden pain in both of her shoulders as the eagle’s sharp talon clamped on them, and then her small feet left the ground.
Princess Amaya stopped crying because she felt exhilarated despite the shoulder pain. She forgot the fear she felt when she saw the eagle’s eyes. She was flying! Then she heard her father’s horrific shouts and a whooshing sound. She felt that the eagle’s claws on her shoulder loosened, and she was falling. Her screams filled the tranquil atmosphere as she expected to feel pain when hitting the ground. The pain did not come but rather, she felt two strong arms envelop her, and they rolled down the slope of the hill before everything went dark.
When she woke up, they were back at their log cabin at the beach. Her Daddy, Ibrahim, was holding a baby eagle in his hand.
The little Amaya shrunk in fear when she remembered the eagle swooping down on her.
"Don’t be scared, Aya. This is a baby eagle. I seriously injured the mommy eagle and it died. It’s baby is too small to survive so can you take good care of this eaglet?"
Little Amaya nodded and offered her cupped hands to receive the eaglet from her daddy. She took care of the eaglet until it grew to be a big eagle and has gotten used to such piercing stare.
"Princess, are you alright?" Leon’s concerned voice pulled her back from her trance. Everyone was focused on watching the Defense Minister. It was only Leon who noticed that Princess Amaya was in a daze after the Defense Minister and his entourage passed by them.
"I am fine; I just remembered something from the past," Princess Amaya murmured. There isn’t much photo about the defense minister on the internet," she added as she glanced at the VIP table at the front. High-ranking officials from the two big continents joined him at the table and started talking with him.
Adolf Black glanced briefly at the princess before turning his attention to the defense ministers of each continent. He could not fathom how she did not flinch under the deathly stare he had given her earlier. Even the generals under him would tremble if given such a look, but the princess looked calm and collected, which puzzled him.
"I thought your uncle was the one attending the banquet to represent the Alliance of the Monarchies," Princess Amaya said, shifting her gaze from a man with gray hair wearing a navy uniform adorned with five stars and other insignias on his shoulder board.
"He is from Ra-Iya. When Lupanya ceased to be a country and became part of Ra-Iya, King Ralden gained more voting rights. As a result, his defense minister became the Alliance representative," explained Prince Raquim unhappily.
Princess Amaya wasn’t interested in politics, so she wasn’t aware. However, she remembered the painting she had seen at the King’s Palace when her cousin Tatiana married King Ralden. She was lost in thought as she studied Ra-Iya’s defense minister.
Meanwhile, in an obscure corner of the banquet hall, a gentle-looking woman scanned the room for someone. A smile appeared on her face when she spotted Sophie and Grace, who seemed to be arguing. She took out her cell phone and made a call.
"I found someone. Bring the package to me."
