Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Dragon Whip

Fengyu looked over the other wolves and saw that none of them were injured.

He gave a few more words of advice, such as remaining in the hill and not entering the Beast Attack if possible.

Afterwards he left the wolf den and quickly left the beast territory.

...

Back in his field, Fengyu thought about everything that happened, realising that even the beasts didn’t know about this attack.

"The beast behind the wolf seems to be quite dominating. Who knows if it intentionally didn’t tell him, pushing him to be attacked and nearly die?

But it helped the boars, it doesn’t make sense it would allow the alpha wolf to be injured so badly...

Or maybe it’s because the two boars were Wild Beasts, while this wolf is a Spirit Beast, making it a competitor instead of a vassal."

He sighed, confused that beast society was just as complex as human society, or even more vicious.

At least human society didn’t suppress those in the earlier stages – the competition only starts later... or maybe Fengyu just hasn’t experienced human society as well.

After all, he focused his attention on raising ducks, ignoring other things.

"Quack, should we prepare for the Beast Attack?"

"No, let it just be. For us this attack won’t be a danger. We can observe them from afar and see what they do, but entering the fray will once again put us in danger."

Fengyu was determined to raise his ducks in peace and not waste time attacking beasts.

Since the last time, he realised that he didn’t benefit from the Beast Attack as much as from a single day of experimentation, even if there were no results.

So in the end, he can only say that currently the beasts were a hurdle and annoyance rather than something that could contribute to his path.

...

The days passed by quickly and weeks turned to months.

At some point the Beast Attack started, but Fengyu didn’t really pay attention.

As planned, he focused on raising his ducks.

With two experiments done, he started thinking of his next experiment.

One idea was to properly fill the five elements – change Silver Feather and Soft Breeze to other ducks that fully fit in with the elements of Earth and Wood.

But after some contemplation, he realised that this would go against his former goals.

His first three ducks were born through coincidence, which was why he didn’t really gain experience in creating branching bloodlines.

Soft Breeze was the result of his experiment to create a duck specialised in recovery, while Fire Breath was the result of experimenting with beast material.

These two are proper experiments used to gain insights into breeding ducks.

What would his next goal be? How should he obtain more beast materials?

These two questions plagued him slightly, making him rethink his approach to breeding.

Just as he was thinking about various things, he heard a sound from the formation outside –

Bang

Taking his flute, he hurriedly walked to the formation and looked out.

"Fellow daoist, please stay inside! The formation just opened up slightly to trap the wolves!" a young man called out as he tried to stand up again.

"Wood Recovery Spell, Recover!" Fengyu hurriedly cast to heal the young man.

A green light flew out of the formation and landed on the young man, instantly closing the various cuts on his body.

"Thank you, fellow daoist!" the man hurriedly thanked Fengyu before moving his hands and speaking extremely awkwardly, trying to cast a spell.

’Huh? Why is he casting the spell so horribly? It’s like he never learned this spell...’ Fengyu was surprised when he heard it. He could swear that this mastery of the Dao Language was something you would only have when you just started learning the spell. Such a spell shouldn’t be used during a battle...

"Fire Arrow Spell, Fire!" the man finally ended the spell, a small fireball appearing in his hand, which he hurriedly fired out.

Fengyu looked even weirder at the guy.

Shaking his head, he was about to turn around –

Just then!

SPLATTTERRRR

Blood splattered all around, hitting the formation and blocking the vision.

A moment later, the blood fell off the formation, and Fengyu could see what was happening on the other side.

A young man in blue robes had a giant... dragon-whip in his hand! The hilt of the weapon looked more like a sword, but Fengyu clearly saw a huge water whip streaming out of the hilt, forming the shape of a dragon.

The dragon had just hit several beasts and bit the body of a red fox, various whipping marks evident on its body.

FWOOOOSHHH

The fox moved its tail and shot out a fireball, trying to hit the enemy.

But the moment it approached the man, he simply waved his hand –

Instantly a blue shield appeared, protecting him from the attack!

"Perfection stage? At such a young age, with late-stage Qi Refining cultivation and such a high comprehension!" Fengyu was shocked at this sight.

He watched as the man waved his hand and finally made the dragon head bite through the red fox, killing it.

Waving his whip again, he was about to attack other enemies –

Right then, a howling wolf was heard in the distance!

Before the man could react, instantly, strands of moonlight seemed to have gathered and fell onto his body, piercing the weakened barrier and hitting his body in countless spots!

Fengyu looked over and saw who it was –

The alpha’s mate!

It was far away from the main battlefield, constantly observing everything.

Seeing this, Fengyu realised that this guy was likely the one who nearly killed her husband!

He saw that the wolf was about to approach while the guy fell down...

"Go away," Fengyu whispered, barely using the Wind Control Art to tell the wolf to leave.

From his position he could see the man still gripping the whip extremely tightly, aiming to attack the wolf right when it entered the formation...
