Raising Ducks for Daily Rewards-Chapter 91: Peaceful Interruption
Just as Fengyu was excitedly jumping up and down, he suddenly saw an image appearing in front of him –
It was illusory, the image of a...
With a single thought Fengyu instantly threw it away.
"Poisonous! This is so poisonous! Hmph!
My path currently is to focus on breeding ducks, and now this achievement of breaking through doesn’t fit the breeding and birth of ducks at all.
Do I have to force each image to distance itself just so I can have a proper path?!"
Fengyu looked with slight annoyance at the image.
It could be helpful to him, even quite rewarding.
But if he allowed himself to indulge into it, then he would be adding impurities to his pure image of breeding ducks.
It wouldn’t fit at all, something that would disrupt it.
He sighed. If something like this happened again and he didn’t react fast enough, he might actually end up seeing something that would delay his path for some time.
Quickly focusing his mind again, he saw that Zimu in his arms was still confused.
"Quack, quack quack?"
"The Innate Spell I talked about? Is that why you’re confused?
Don’t you have an accompanying bloodline inheritance?"
Fengyu asked confused why the beast didn’t know its nature better than he did.
"Quack, my bloodline inheritance is too vast, containing a lot of useless information which I will have to sort through after some time. Do you know what this Innate Spell is about?"
"Sure, no worries.
First of all, in the first stage, beasts gain their Innate Abilities – they are your core abilities.
And upon these you can create Innate Spells that depend on the abilities as foundation.
Imagine the Innate Abilities as your ’Talent’ or the core of your spell collection, and the rest is branched and derived from it.
Since your ability is Peace Seeking, any related spell will have the function of seeking peace, or it will have the effect of peace.
It’s said that only those with a second-stage bloodline can awaken an Innate Spell.
Beasts of lower bloodlines struggle with even awakening the Innate Ability.
The only reason all the Spiritual Beasts around awaken their ability right after breaking through is because of my own mastery of spells combined with them being Spirit Beasts.
The rest can be lucky if they awaken it in the mid-stage, and it’s most common to only awaken the ability in the late-stage.
Alright, I told you so much about this. Can you tell me what your Innate Spell is like?"
Zimu looked slightly confused but accepted the information rather fast.
He contemplated for a moment before replying, "Like you said, it’s very close to my own Peace Seeking Innate Ability.
My bloodline tells me that this spell is called the Peaceful Interruption Innate Spell –
Using my sense of peace as the core, I can interrupt the thoughts of others with my peaceful quack.
This can interrupt the attack of an enemy right as he is about to do it.
Though while it is called ’peaceful’, it doesn’t care about the backlash of interruption at all.
So when I use this spell on others, if they are in the process of casting a spell, then I can interrupt them and instantly causing them to suffer the backlash of a failed spell.
I can also do this when people are thinking or cultivating, directly dissipating their focus."
"Huh? So that was it! I didn’t think you would get an attack spell..."
Fengyu remembered the moment when Zimu just advanced – when he heard the quack, he did indeed feel a sudden interruption in his thoughts.
If it wasn’t for Zimu directly pulling it away, he might even have been forced to restart his thinking process.
This might not seem harmful initially, but it can easily confuse a person to the point of pushing them into a mental break.
If each of your thoughts is interrupted, then your mind will have difficulties functioning properly.
"Ah, well, it’s good! From now on, you can participate in the battles if I end up in one again!" Fengyu smiled and patted Zimu with a proud smile.
"Quack, this spell is more useful when fighting humans. When fighting beasts, it’s better against Spirit Beasts.
The effect on Wild Beasts who use their instincts rather than their thoughts is less..."
Fengyu smiled and shook his head, "You can’t want everything. In the future you might get a different Innate Spell that allows you to tame the wild instincts of a beast, forcing it to become domesticated or something like that.
Such a spell would be quite powerful, though awakening it will be difficult...
While there isn’t a number of how many Innate Spells you can awaken, the general rule is that a beast awakens one ability per stage.
For now, this ability should be more than enough!"
Fengyu smiled and shook his head at the greed of his little fiend.
Beasts, like humans, had different advantages at every stage.
In the first stage they awaken their Innate Ability, in the second their Innate Spells, and there will be other things in the third stage.
Generally they are built one upon the other, like a building built from the foundation.
"Quack, Fengyu, now that I have this spell... I’m not useless anymore, right?"
"Zimu, why do you think you’re useless? You never were useless!
Didn’t I tell you all along that you should just focus on your cultivation and that everything else isn’t important as long as you can break through?
Now look at you –
Your first breakthrough directly pushed you to the second stage!
Like I said, the first three bloodline breakthroughs are the easiest and require the least materials from outside.
Today you broke through without any other material, the next time it won’t take much either probably.
Isn’t this a lot better?" Fengyu smiled, not continuing the comparison.
But Zimu instantly understood what Fengyu was telling him.
He became quiet for a moment before quacking in delight and excitement, "Fengyu, my bloodline broke through to the second stage!"
