Re-Awakening: Evolving My Shadow Limitlessly With A System-Chapter 11: Innate Spell, Creating An Elemental Catalyst
Chapter 11: Innate Spell, Creating An Elemental Catalyst
Frank (Brother of Mc’s Father) POV
Frank stood on the mountain path.
He was leaning against the side of his black sedan.
A thin trail of smoke curled upward from the cigarette in his hand, drifting off into the breeze.
His expression was blank.
His eyes didn’t blink much. They stared past the trees, over the edge of the winding road, toward the glittering lights of the city far below.
Liana stood next to him, arms folded, jacket pulled tight against the chill.
She had changed into skin tight black outfit and woke the jacket over it.
"What are you thinking about?"
Frank didn’t respond right away. He took one last drag, let the smoke hang in his mouth, and exhaled slowly.
"Nothing much. I was just thinking about that birthday party Adrian threw for his kid."
His lips twisted.
The corner of his mouth pulled slightly as if the memory left a bitter taste.
"He’s just as irritating as I remember him. Throwing around money like that, like he has to remind everyone how far above them he is.
"Gold toys, expensive decorations, hundreds of guests, for a one-year-old who probably won’t even remember any of it."
Liana didn’t say anything.
The silence sat between them for a while.
Frank dropped the cigarette into the ashtray he’d set on top of the car and crushed it out. Then he turned to her.
"Did you scout the whole mansion?"
"I did. During the party when no one was paying attention, I slipped into the staff corridors and hid the SleepMist Capsule behind a ventilation panel in the west wing.
"It’s set to trigger in about an hour. Once it goes off, anyone sleeping inside the mansion tonight won’t wake up until morning."
Frank looked at her carefully, his face still unreadable.
He gave a single nod.
"Good."
He looked back toward the city again, but only for a moment. Then he stepped away from the car, and spoke in a low and serious voice,
"Go now. You know what to do."
Liana didn’t ask questions.
She gave a simple nod and started walking back toward her bike, which was parked a little down the slope. Her boots crunched softly against the gravel.
Frank stayed there a while longer. He reached into his coat pocket for another cigarette, lit it, and returned to staring out over the city.
From up here, the lights looked peaceful.
But it would soon become a hell for his brother Adrian.
He would make sure of it.

My eyes lingered on the changes.
The boost to Intelligence and Spirit made me smile.
But the biggest shift came from my Mage Class and the Shadow Summon skill boost it triggered.
’Only six more levels and Shadow Summon will be mastered.’
But for now, Mage was the highlight.
...
Class: Mage
Rank 0
Grade: 0-Star
Innate Spell: Magic Bullet
...
As a 0-star Mage, I had gained my first Innate Spell—Magic Bullet, a null-element spell.
Innate spells just appeared in the mind like a downloaded file.
Normal Spells were ranked from 0-star to 9-star. The highest rank Spell a Mage could use would be one rank higher than their grade.
’Innate Spells are quite useful.’
’They can grow in rank as long as my mastery is high.’
’But normal Spells can’t grow in rank.’
Everyone got one Innate Spell at 0-star Mage grade, and another at 1-star Mage grade along with stats.
It was the so-called starter pack of the Mage path.
After that, only stats came as a reward, unless you evolved your class.
"I’m finally a 0-star Mage," I said under my breath, grinning.
I could feel the sphere of Mana below my heart.
Finally, I had the ability to defend myself and fight.
I wanted to fire off a Magic Bullet as a celebration for this milestone.
But I held myself back.
I couldn’t afford to waste mana.
As a 0-star Mage, I didn’t produce my own Mana. Everything bit of mana had to absorbed from outside sources—gold in my case.
That would change once I reached 1-star Mage. The stars formed inside the core would begin producing Mana automatically.
’Gold will still be important for quick grade-ups though. Just like now.’
I turned to look at the gifts from Seris’ mom and my parents.
There was more than enough gold to push me all the way to 1-star. But I didn’t move toward them yet.
First, I needed to prepare an Elemental Catalyst.
’I can finally use that element,’ I thought with a faint smile.
A few weeks ago, I had seriously considered four options: Air, Flame, Lightning, and Space.
Air would let me silence my steps and move faster. It was perfect for infiltration and escape.
Flame was explosive. Perfect for combat-type assassins who killed fast and loud.
Lightning gave the best of both—speed and power—but it drained energy too quickly and left you wide open afterward.
And then there was Space.
Space was the strongest, no doubt.
But it was also the hardest to control.
Also, because so few people could use it, the number of researched spells of Space Element was incredibly low.
Most thought Space was weak because of that. Few spells, and difficult mastery.
’That’s not a problem for me.’
’I have regressed with all my knowledge after all.’
The ancient Space Element Spells that had once sealed a fallen God, and equally powerful Spells created by the ancient civilizations.
The revolutionized Space magic that would be created by a genius in the near future.
All of that knowledge was in my head.
’All I need is a Space Element Catalyst.’
’Then, I came align myself with Space Element.’
I crawled over to the other side of the room and opened a wooden box I had kept hidden beneath my bed.
Inside were the materials I had been collecting for weeks.
A tear-shaped stone with I’d found near the garden.
A dried spider egg I stole from a dusty corner in the attic.
A crushed bangle coated in cheap gold.
A shard of mirror glass that reflected light oddly.
And a cracked ceramic marble with purple veins running through it.
These weren’t actual materials used to create Space Element Catalyst.
They were substitutes—ordinary things I carefully chose to act as perfect replacements for the alchemy materials.
Normally, using substitutes would lower the catalyst’s quality.
But that wouldn’t happen here. freewēbnoveℓ.com
My knowledge and experience in alchemy was near unmatched.
The materials I had chosen would not lower the catalyst’s quality at all.
I laid out the items in a specific formation.
Then I pricked my finger once more, wincing slightly at the sting.
With the blood, I began drawing new Runes on the floor.
These were different from the ones I had used for gold-mana conversion. They were more complex, layered with spatial logic.
Then I began to chant.
"Fwacture duh dwust, bend duh weaves,
Twist duh worwd ’till it bweaves.
Wendew mass into gwowin’ spwace,
Fwom solid stwuff, weave mana’s pwace!"
The baby-like lisp would’ve made anyone laugh. As for me, it was quite embarrassing.
Technically speaking, the lisp was of no problem.
I had added stabilization Rune and Translation Rune to help align my thought patterns with raw mana during the alchemy process.
This time, just like with the previous ritual, I was the catalyst.
And this alchemy was a level higher.
The moment the chant ended, pressure hit my body like a heavy iron wall.
I grit my teeth as sweat trickled down my forehead. My tiny legs trembled.
Then, the materials in the circle began to change.
The cracked marble glowed first, purple veins pulsing.
The spider egg sizzled and burst into fine threads that wrapped around the glass shard.
The bangle split in half and hovered above the stone, which now floated as if weightless.
They all melted together, transforming into an ethereal otherworldly object.
A crystal formed. Bluish black in color.
It floated just above the blood-drawn runes, pulsating gently like a heart.
A system message appeared.
Class Alchemist
Grade: Apprentice Alchemist → Journeyman Alchemist
+3 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence
Perk Gained: [Steady Hand]
Perk Effect: Your brewing and crafting have increased precision and reaction control.
I exhaled sharply.
’Finally.’
The pressure on my body eased, but a dull ache remained under my ribs.
I clenched and unclenched my hands, letting the sensation pass before reaching forward.
The bluish-black crystal hovered in the air above the alchemy circle. I grabbed it and felt its chill sink into my palm.
This was it. The Space Element Catalyst.
There was no time to waste.
I had already pushed my body far enough, but this next step didn’t require me to act as the Catalyst. That was the only reason I could keep going.
I moved the toys—Seris’ mother’s and my parents’—to the center of the room.
I drew a new rune formation in a steady hand, using my blood again.
Despite my trembling limbs, showing sign of blood loss, I kept my focus locked in.
The Space Catalyst was placed at the core of the circle.
Everything was ready.
I began the chant, muttering low syllables.
This time, the ritual wasn’t painful.
As the chanting reached its final line, mana began rising into the air like mist.
