Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 215: Candidates
Chapter 215: Candidates
After the ‘Bastian Elowen Arcturus Seryn Thorne’ incident, Rael had begun to take notice of the first letters of each word.
Because of that, the Conquest Overturning Celestial Korrvain stood out quite a bit.
Cock, huh? Touché.
“I’m not interested,” Rael replied. “And why exactly should I take care of your family? I have nothing to gain from this.”
Reinhardt sighed. “I see… is there nothing that can be done?”
“Kid, I think he’s being clear enough,” Kareth snickered, walking closer. “I chose you as a candidate due to your ferociousness. I expected you to carry the weight of the Hollow Throne if you were to be chosen. But clearly, I made a mistake.”
With those words, Kareth flicked his fingers, causing an interesting pop-up to appear in front of them.
<Ding!>
“Oh?” Kareth tilted his head. “So many have died already. I guess that’s fair, considering how reckless the candidates are.”
He turned to Rael. “He’s all yours, by the way. I can’t interfere in the duel any further.”
Rael simply waved at him, prepared to deal the final blow to Reinhardt.
But Kareth spoke up again.
“Oh, and Rael? The Depths are undergoing a lockdown for an indefinite amount of time,” Kareth stated. “I’ll contact you when you can enter, but until then refrain from using the portal.”
With that, Kareth turned to walk away, only to vanish and reappear in his throne.
Rael’s brows furrowed.
All these events are coming together a bit too well… I wonder which one is the trigger, though?
Even so, he silently placed his rapier along Reinhardt’s neck and exerted some force.
Despite all that, Reinhardt maintained a distant smile, almost as if he was accepting this outcome.
“My eldest sister is called Shyvana, and the youngest is Azarielle… even if you don’t help them… at least say hello when you pass by them,” Reinhardt added and closed his eyes.
“Hmm… will do,” Rael replied and finished the slash, cleanly severing Reinhardt’s head.
It hovered in the air for a few moments, then finally dropped down.
—Human [Level 1349] Killed! All skills increase by 5 levels!>
<+52,023 Strength>
<+43,344 Agility>
<+214,942 Constitution>
<+8,522 Intelligence>
<+29,945 Wisdom>
God fucking damn, Rael whistled in wonder.
He didn’t think the amount of stats he’d get would be much, but this? He estimated that he got around 1/5 of Reinhardt’s actual stats.
Rael heaved a satisfied breath, yet when he looked down, he realized the sword Reinhardt had offered was still there.
And since its owner was dead, it was no longer soulbound.
Oh well… Rael crouched down. Yoink.
He stored it inside his inventory and dusted himself off before turning his gaze over to Kareth.
“I’m done here. Give me my reward,” Rael said flatly.
“Hm?” Kareth tilted his head. “You didn’t get it yet?”
“What—?”
1. Exude a passive aura that makes monsters 30+ levels lower than you ignore your presence.
2. You’ve been blessed by a Primordial! <+250 To All Stats!>
3. Your existence has caught the eyes of the gods! <+1000 Charisma!>
4. You will automatically join ???’s Faction, and everyone who is against ??? will seek to eliminate you.
5. (NEW) You can now directly converse with the Primordial whenever they establish contact.
Oh? Rael’s eyes widened in surprise. “Correct me if I’m wrong, but Alune is the Primordial, right?”
“Yep.” Kareth nodded with a smirk. “It took quite a lot of time and power for her to send that blessing, so do talk to her from time to time. She is quite shy though, or so I’ve heard. Zarkul is a bit too overprotective of her.”
“Will do,” Rael affirmed. Suddenly, his body began to glow in a blue light, making him enter a combat stance.
“Pfft… you’re being teleported back to where you were. Don’t worry, you won’t be harmed,” Kareth assured.
He tapped his glass, and with each tap, Rael felt a certain pressure shoot past him.
But the more he felt it, the more he realized it wasn’t directed at him.
Instead…
“Astaroth, why are you hiding inside him? Come out,” Kareth said with a wide grin.
Rael tilted his head, but after just a few seconds of silence, Burger manifested in its black slime form in front of him.
“Kareth, long time no see…” Burger grumbled. “I thought we had cut ties, so why are you still seeking to talk to me at every given moment?”
“Oh? You’re not reacting to your true name being called out. Did something happen?” Kareth mused, causing Burger’s slime body to tremble.
“Did you perhaps… get renamed?”
“Silence!” Burger lashed out. “Who do you think you are to speak to me like this!? You’re nothing but a child who had to borrow power to reach his current state. If not for the Spirit King of Space, you’d have been killed a hundred millennia ago!”
“At least your temper is the same,” Kareth remarked with a chuckle, turning to Rael. “Take care of this idiot. Astaroth is shy but powerful if used well. Though he’s not exactly the kindest spirit around. Trust me, I’d know.”
“Ugh… don’t give this filthy human ideas…” Burger muttered. “He’s already made a mockery of me.”
“Well, your temper is fun to mess around with. I’m not surprised,” Kareth said and sent Rael one last thumbs up.
“Good luck out there. Oh, and before the candidate selection period ends, make sure to get as strong as possible. There are powerhouses who are nearly Grade 2, so you’ll need to ascend at least once,” Kareth added.
“Sure, I’ll see you in 90 days then,” Rael replied with a smirk as he began dematerializing until he was fully gone.
But his lack of vision only lasted a few seconds since he soon found himself back in the desert.
There was a grumpy Burger in front of him, and a panicked Anath, who was running around looking for him.
He heaved a sigh.
I guess I should finally take her back to her father.
