Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 302: Killing the Undead Lord

Rael stared at the pop-ups for a second before coughing.

To his surprise, several miniature ice particles flew out, causing him to sigh.

As for the others, they looked at him worriedly.

"Hey man... I think you should sit this one out," Todd said. "No offense, of course. I just don’t want you to suddenly melt while we’re fighting, you know?"

"I agree," Julian chimed in. "You shouldn’t even be moving in your current condition. Every time you move or breathe, you’re reducing your lifespan."

"I also agree..." Jane spoke up. "You’ve helped us many times, and I’d really hate for our savior to just die like this."

Rael grumbled. "It’s alright. I’ll live long enough to see this Shrine through, at least. After that, I’ll figure something out."

Of course, he would.

He wasn’t very keen on dying, after all.

"Strategy meeting?" Todd suggested.

Natasha scoffed. "What for? It’s pretty straightforward this time around. Just kill the boss, and we’re good."

"Hmm... true," Todd hummed. "Let’s keep the formation similar, but Rael will be going to the back lines this time."

He definitely didn’t want to get the short end of the stick, since the rewards he was expecting to get from this Shrine would likely make it all worthwhile.

Or so I’m hoping. At least a high-grade healing potion would be nice, Rael thought as he waited for the last seconds to tick down.

And finally, they did.

Yet instead of the ground shaking, the destroyed Golden Statue on the fountain began to morph, reforming itself.

Eventually, it returned to the shape it had before it was destroyed, but instead of remaining still, it soon began to twitch and crack.

Black bones emerged through the golden cracks, and moments later, the entire figure revealed itself.

It was a completely black skeleton wearing a knightly suit of armor. A crown, glowing with red and blue light, floated above its head.

But no weapon though... is it a mage? Rael pondered.

And that was when the timer finally started ticking down.

No one waited even a single moment as they dashed ahead, Rael included.

But as he stepped within 5 meters of the Undead Lord, he halted.

He felt a slight pain in his chest as his pierced heart began palpitating.

It was as if it were warning him of something.

"Wait!" Rael decided to follow his hunch. "It’s a trap! Attack it from a distance!"

Everyone listened, with the exception of Natasha, who was already too deep into its radius.

She stopped and kicked off, trying to retreat, a giant black bolt of mana shot out from seemingly nowhere.

Rael’s eyes widened at the speed, but just as it was about to make contact with Natasha, one of the dagger fighters ran in, pushing her back toward the rest of the group.

He was fast, sure. Fast enough to reach her.

But not fast enough to escape, as the black bolt compressed itself and traveled straight through his forehead, killing him in an instant.

"Roman!" Natasha yelled, tears welling up in her eyes as she tried to dash back to him.

Before she could, Todd grabbed her by the arm and slapped her across the face.

"Snap out of it," he said, his voice containing a trace of sadness. "Follow the formation... don’t go ahead like you just did."

The slap jolted her back to her senses, and if Rael had to guess, that Roman guy was her lover.

"...Fine," Natasha replied in a low tone, giving Rael a subtle glance. "Thanks."

Rael nodded wordlessly, then glanced back toward the Undead Lord.

"It attacks anything that gets too close. I’m guessing it has more... I wish we could spend more time to think about it, but..."

"Time is running out."

Todd took a deep breath and waved his hand. "Attack it from a distance."

The moment he finished those words, icebolts and arrows launched forward.

They were about to make contact with the Undead Lord, but it merely raised its hand, creating a barrier that blocked all of their attacks.

But that gave Rael a bit of insight as he took a step forward, then another.

Finally, he was at the area where he had felt the danger.

But this time... there was nothing.

"Keep attacking it!" Rael yelled. "It can’t switch between offense and defense easily!"

The first one to react was Natasha as she kicked off the ground, sword at the ready.

Then Todd ran in alongside Rael, with Shina not too far behind.

She seemed to be babying Rael, mimicking his movements and never straying far.

I don’t mind it... but come on. Focus on the fight, not on my ass.

Still, they ran in and began unleashing attacks.

As they’d hoped, it couldn’t retaliate, and they managed to land a solid number of hits

He was getting pretty lucky with the damage, and he even managed to shatter the shoulder armor of the Undead Lord.

Then several icebolts made contact with its body.

It seemed to have dropped its defenses entirely.

"It’s back on the offensive! Everyone, big hits only now!" Rael announced.

And in the next moment, every single person, whether from a distance or right in front of the Undead Lord, began slashing, cutting, and even crushing its bones.

A grin appeared on Rael’s face.

My Gambler’s Luck’s 1% chance to deal triple damage always triggers as long as a monster has no defenses... Interesting.
