Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 304: Class Trial
Chapter 304: Class Trial
"..."
When in doubt...
Rael shook his head.
He didn’t want to be too hasty.
But impending death wasn’t exactly the biggest turn-on at the moment, so he decided to take a deeper look into this new hidden scenario.
<Ding!>
<You may not view the Reaper (???) Class until the Class Trial is over!>
"Seriously..." Rael muttered. "Since I’m sure you can hear me, care to give me a hint for good old time’s sake?"
<You have insufficient authority to request that information.>
Didn’t think so. Rael sighed.
It seemed like he was left with two options.
Die.
Not die.
So with that in mind, he pressed "Yes."
<Beginning the Class Trial for: Reaper (???)>
<You are being transported to...>
His vision darkened, and his consciousness began to fade.
However, that only lasted for a few moments, as in the next, he reappeared in some abandoned city.
It resembled the city he was just in, Seoul.
Yet instead of the blue sky, he was met with a green sky and crimson clouds.
"Huh..." Rael shivered.
This place is... it doesn’t feel very pleasant to be in.
Only a moment later, the pop-up displaying his trial appeared.
<Trial 1: Dead Parade>
<Description: You have entered the Soul Realm. Time does not pass on the outside whilst you are inside. Yet for some reason, as you walk around, you hear faint whispers...>
<Objective: Maintain your sanity for 30 minutes whilst the harrowing cries eat away at your conscience.>
<Starts in: Now.>
<29:59>
<29:58>
"Hmm..." Rael tilted his head. Conscience? Why would my conscience be affected?
The system almost made it seem like he was responsible for their deaths.
Rael suddenly halted.
Wait... did me eating that eye trigger the awakening?
As it stood, the timing did seem way too convenient.
He ate the eye, came back out, and only five minutes later, that faceless white being appeared and caused the world awakening.
Was it really Solenne? Could it have been someone else? Rael wondered.
He sort of wanted to call out her name, but he didn’t want to accidentally kill himself.
Nevertheless, he strolled through the empty streets, and only a few minutes later, he finally heard the voices.
—so cold... it hurts...
—he watched it happen...
—was it worth it...?
Yeah... I don’t understand a word of what they’re saying, Rael thought as he approached a nearby bar, then stepped inside.
For a moment, he thought he had seen the figure of a bartender, but when he closed and reopened his eyes, he realized there was no one there.
I should’ve gotten some earplugs...
Still, he grabbed a bottle of wine and started chugging, then grabbed another.
Just like that, Rael spent 25 minutes drinking, yet not getting drunk in the slightest.
<02:03>
<02:02>
But as he was about to down another glass, a silhouette caught his eye beside the entrance of the bar.
It seemed extremely familiar, so much so that he couldn’t help but approach it.
Unlike the other figures he had seen in this strange place, this one didn’t dissipate.
The figure had long hair, and from what he could tell, it was a girl.
He slightly bent down, trying to catch a glimpse of her face.
And that was when the figure suddenly vanished, not leaving behind a trace.
No visual trace, sure, but due to the familiarity he felt, he managed to recall another distant memory.
It was the memory of his sister.
She looked identical in height and everything else to the figure he had just seen.
Yet this time, he had the full picture.
His sister had the same black hair as him, and her green eyes were even more beautiful than his.
That playful, yet secretly arrogant smirk on her face never failed to bring a certain warmth to his heart.
Back then, and even now.
Rael clenched his fists.
But... if I saw her... does that mean—
—brother...
—why didn’t you visit me... I was in so much pain...
—did you not care about me...?
Rael’s brows furrowed as he kicked open the bar’s door and stepped out.
The voices lingered inside his mind, growing more and more harrowing by the moment.
Each time the voice spoke, it touched upon his childhood memories.
Especially the dark memories of jealousy, which the voice was currently exploiting.
Even so, the voice kept shifting pitch, as if it couldn’t decide who it wanted to be.
Sometimes it sounded like a full-grown woman, then a girl, and even, at times, like a child.
But Rael didn’t let those voices get to him as he continued walking, waiting for the timer to run out.
<00:32>
<00:31>
She might be dead, and her soul might be tormenting him, but in the end...
It doesn’t make any sense, Rael thought with a calm expression. We were close all our lives... because of that, I know she’s not the type of person who would say any of those things.
After all, she was tough on the outside, but on the inside? She was a softie... and a brocon.
She cared for him more than she showed, but out of fear their parents would lash out at him even more, she didn’t talk to him much.
Still... that’s enough for me to know what kind of person she was, Rael thought with determination as he suddenly halted, turning around.
The moment he did, dozens of figures came into view, some were distorted, while others maintained their usual shapes.
There were even a few figures that resembled his sister, but in the end, after taking a final breath, all the figures vanished as the green sky above turned brighter.
The buildings began to disintegrate, and even the crimson clouds weren’t spared.
So moments later, Rael was left floating in a completely green void with only two pop-ups in front of him.
<Trial 1: Dead Parade - Complete.>
<The second Class Trial will be announced shortly...>
Rael grumbled, but just as he was about to complain, a surprising pop-up appeared in front of him.
<Ding!>
<You’ve gained a new skill!>
<Skill: Soul Reading (???)>
