RE: Perverted Sugar Daddy System-Chapter 281: Selection
Chapter 281: Selection
From the hospital, we returned to the SUV, and as Giggs started the car, I questioned him.
"What did you notice while I was meditating?"
My question immediately put the veteran’s mind to work, and he carefully answered.
"The air was tense."
"What do you mean?"
"You were silently meditating, and I was keeping Mrs. Tusk entertained, yet there was a faint prickle at the edge of my senses."
"Not bad. There was a fifth individual in the room. He was covered in a high-level illusion."
"That was dangerous," Giggs breathed out, controlling the surprise on his face.
"Yeah."
"Why didn’t we take him out?"
"Whoever was hiding... his illusion was strong. But other than that, you would have crushed him. Such a person is dispensable and would hold nothing of value for us. Taking him out would only alert the others."
"I see."
"Let’s head over to Grace’s location. The earlier we rescue her, the faster I can leave this state."
Giggs’ forehead creased at my words, and while taking a turn, he inquired,
"Is there a problem, sir?"
I remained silent for a few seconds, watching the cars we passed and the individuals on the road. Then I replied,
"In here, I am a golden fish just waiting to be caught."
"Should I call for backup?"
"No need."
"Sir, I feel we should do a reconnaissance before taking any drastic actions. While I did find the enemy’s hideout, I’m not sure Grace would be there."
"Hmm... enemy’s hideout. Who is our enemy?"
"I’m not sure. There are several suspects."
"There’s no need for reconnaissance. I’m enough. This is a good chance for us to know our enemies."
Perhaps it was cowardly of me, but it could be said that I feared Michigan.
My first reality check had been here, and then there was the feeling of loneliness.
Back in Los Angeles, not only was I familiar with the city, but I also had my women and school to entertain me. But here in Michigan, all I could see were greedy shareholders and superpowered families that wanted my puny shares.
"Greedy goats," I muttered within.
Los Angeles was my comfort zone, while Michigan was my hell.
The chances that Mr. God was where Giggs was taking me were quite high, and considering his ability to detect me in the dream, I knew he was strong.
But wait, how do you detect someone in a dream?
I mean, I was in Tobi’s consciousness, and I could vividly remember the same thing happening when I entered Ninja Momma’s dream.
"Sir, this could be a trap."
"It is a trap," I corrected Giggs.
"I know."
With all I had witnessed since entering Michigan, it was safe to say that the only reason Giggs was alive and so unharmed was because the enemy wanted him to lead me to them.
[System, bring up my rewards.]
I was supposed to have made my selection of system rewards last weekend, but the events of the day had pushed it to the back of my mind.
Now, though, knowing I was about to possibly engage in the greatest battle of my life so far, I decided to power up.
[Golden Tree]
While Giggs drove, my eyes scanned the choices on the list, taking note of their now heavy prices.
[Overdrive Knowledge Box]
Learn how to consume the energies of the world and use it to boost your strength to at least 3 times its normal.
Your only limitations are your mind and body.
Cost: 1.2 million PSDP
[Old Guard]
Draw on the experience and knowledge of those around you to excel in whatever field you are currently engaging in.
This technique is heavily reliant on mental prowess.
Cost: 600,000 PSDP
[Honey Prayer]
Follow in the steps of those before you. Pray to those above and consume the delicacies of the earth to age like honey.
Price: 900,000 PSDP
[Writer’s Book]
Do you want to see the future? Do you want to see the past?
How much are you ready to sacrifice to see destiny written in a book held in your palms?
Price: 7 million PSDP
[Fourth Dimension]
The first, the second, the third, you should know all these by now.
Do you want to learn about the fourth?
Price: 10 million PSDP
[Fifth Dimension (Initiation)]
What do you know about the plane that determines who gets to rule and who gets to serve?
Price: 5 million PSDP
When the system said there would be new additions to the catalogue, I didn’t think it would come with such a high cost.
Compared to when I had first activated the Golden Tree and it had been full of combat options, this time, knowledge from other fields was being shown, and the reason I didn’t try to read all that was on the list was because of the absurd prices.
My balance at the moment ranged within 3 million PSDP, and it was only that much because I had killed Bettany.
"Should I kill another high witch?" I wondered.
It sounded like a good idea, my mind already imagining the windfall of PSDPs, but I had a feeling that wouldn’t be such a smart move at the moment.
My battles with other high-level witches would not turn out the way it did with Bettany.
[Ding!! For this monumental exploit of killing a high-ranking knight while not even being ascended yourself, you have been rewarded with two options. Select one as your reward:]
Resurrect the defeated knight as an undead soldier who will relentlessly fight for you until he encounters another end.Be rewarded with the purchasing power of 10 million PSDP.
"System, Option 1."
[Option 1: Fallen Knight. Confirm?]
"Confirm."
Ten million points sounded tempting, especially when the Golden Tree now showed that it could contain truly powerful knowledge but I chose the Fallen Knight because not only was the Golden Tree a one-time buy, possibly containing information that I might not be able to put into practical use immediately or even within the nearest years, but also because as strong as I was, a helper would be most essential.
Someone who was just as strong or even stronger than me, whom I could trust to watch my back, was priceless.
[Nice choice]
The system screen disappeared after those words, and just before I could go digging into my inventory, wondering if the Fallen Knight had been placed there, there was a thunderous crack from up in the sky.
