Re: Strongest Necromancer with the Extraction Talent-Chapter 44: Killing the 2nd Echelon Fire Lion (1)
Chapter 44: Killing the 2nd Echelon Fire Lion (1)
The second beast raked claws across his back at the same time, creating a deep wound. Armand sank to one knee but did not collapse.
White-gold wiring wrapped his wounds as Kai’s heal coursed through. The pain subsided, and the muscle was sewn. The corpse behind Armand moved as Kai had resurrected it and assigned it to flank the remaining cougar.
"Kill it!"
Coming back to his peak, Armand charged again, eyes blazing with determination.
At the other side, Elias spewed up saliva. Armor was repaired, and he was healed, but mana reserves were depleting. As he downed a 2nd Echelon Mana potion, he thought that he needed to stop this before the lion unleashed its anger on the Kai’s side.
He activated Solar Blade once more, and just as the lion inhaled for Sovereign Roar, he used Heaven’s Bind again, the chains looping around the jaws.
He stepped on thin air, raising his hand upward as he used his [Dawnfall Spear] skill, creating a five-meter lance of radiant dawnlight.
The lion was furious and used [Hellfire Control] to cloak itself in a pillar of black flame, melting the chains. But the Judgment Mark still glowed.
Elias threw the spear downward. It pierced through infernal flames and pierced through the right shoulder, barely pinning the lion down. A shriek of agony tore the sky.
Even though Elias delivered a fatal attack, Kai cursed loudly.
"Damn it! I’ve told you to hold back, you dumbass. Now that you don’t have a lot of mana left, how can you kill it?"
Kai was pissed with Elias’ action since it just changed the course of their plan. If Elias managed to kill the lion with it, then it’s all good, but if he could do it, why did he die before?
Elias replied with a serious expression. "You will be the one who kills it. I’ll make an opening later."
Kai looked at him as if looking at an idiot. "What the hell are you talking about? How am I supposed to kill it?"
"Using your ultimate skill, what else?" Elias looked back weirdly.
Kai flinched for a split second, forgetting about the fact that he had lied and bragged about his ultimate skill.
"What ultimate skill? I don’t have any." Kai looked at Elias with a confused expression.
"..."
Everyone was speechless since they definitely heard clearly that Kai mentioned his ultimate skill.
"Cut the crap, I really don’t have any. You need to bear the consequences since you’re the one who messed it up." Kai said angrily and reminded Elias. "Go recover your mana, and don’t use your skill unless your life is in danger. It’s fine for you to get beaten up for a while as long as you’re not dead in a single attack."
"..."
’Fuck, he really doesn’t have any.’
Everyone cursed in their heart when they looked at Kai’s serious expression; some awakeners were injured as they were too surprised and got hit by their opponents.
"What the fuck are you guys doing!" Kai cursed as his gaze swept to the surroundings while using his healing skill to heal them.
While he was at it, he locked onto his next target.
As time passed, Kai assisted the others in killing their opponents, while the others killed their opponents either in exchange for injury or with the number advantage.
Slowly but surely, their advantage grew bigger since Kai resurrected the dead beasts one after another.
Unlike the good situation on the 1st Echelon Rank’s side, Elias’ side was miserable as he had been trying his best to block the fire lion’s fury as it wanted to rip Kai apart.
When the 1st Echelon Beasts was down to only 17 from 50, Kai immediately gathered the undead beasts around and told the others to kill the leftover beasts as quickly as possible.
Looking at 30 undead beasts in front of him (levels 25-36), Kai nodded his head in satisfaction since only 3 undead beasts had died from the brutal fight.
Sigh!
’It’s time to execute the plan.’ Kai exhaled deeply, then informed Elias to prepare himself.
His plan was actually really simple: focus on restricting the lion’s movement by using the most effective method, which was to blind its eyesight.
However, it wasn’t as simple as it seemed to be since the difficulty in doing so was extremely high.
Naturally, the one who would do the task was Kai and his undead beasts, since Elias’ hands were already tied badly enough to even hold the fire lion back.
Not only that, they only had one chance because once the fire lion discovered it, it would be almost impossible for them to have another chance.
Kai actually had never thought about this before because he had only done this strategy no more than five times in his previous life. The risk in doing so was just too high with a little chance of success.
Of course, it was because he did it with his life on the line. But this time was different since he had undead beasts that would become the sacrifice in exchange for the chance to do it.
If he were able to blind even one of its eyes, their chance of winning would become much higher, depending on which side. Especially, the right eye was the best choice, as Elias’ previous attack had landed on its right shoulder.
Kai’s eyes flashed a cold gleam as he snapped an order through their connection.
"Go!"
Three undead beasts—a Glacier Tiger, a Steel-fur Wild Cat, and a Saber-tooth Panther—launched themselves at the Fire Lion from three different angles. The air sizzled as their paws touched smoldering grass, but they never reached the target.
The Fire Lion’s mane blazed with a dull, red-black pulse—a ring of compressed hellfire burst outward, forming into a saw-blade halo.
Shhk!
The tiger was cleaved in half instantly. The wildcat’s head evaporated, and the panther was severed at the waist.
"Let’s do it again," Kai muttered.
He flicked his wrist, and six more undead beasts—two Shadow Panthers, two Glacier Tigers, a Vulcan Lynx, and the Steel-fur Cat he’d snapped earlier shot forward in a V-formation.
