Re: Timeless Apocalypse-Chapter 121: Questions
But that could wait.
Now that his Mage Tool was finally complete, he could do it.
’I can finally get answers.’
Part of the intent behind the mechanics of his mage tool was indeed to help him in his coming project regarding mage circles, while another was to test out his thoughts regarding the encyclopaedia and take advantage of it.
But neither of those were the biggest reasons behind the mechanics and purpose of his Mage Tool.
Independence.
The biggest motivation behind the design of his tool and its enchantments was independence, from Enoch, Ayah, and any future regressor he might meet in the future.
The truth was that he’d have to get to terms with the fact that he’d never get his memories back and thus would always be lagging behind the others.
Worse still, because of this gap in knowledge and the weird laws of the world stopping the regressors from directly telling him everything he needed to know, he’d always be in the dark.
Like his current situation, for example.
Where the hell was he? What was a Legacy Event? What the hell were those eyes in the skies? What was the Sin? What was the Gate? The Eye?
What was Elemental Anchoring? What the hell was a Pioneer? What came after the first step?
All these questions, Uriel was sure both Ayah and Enoch would have answers for, very detailed and precise, but that exactly was the issue.
What happened if in the future they had a fallout like he did with Celeste and Salazar? What would happen if they died? What happened if they suddenly decided to turn their backs on him?
Now that they weren’t here, he was lost and defenseless.
That was unacceptable.
So he’d decided to take his grandmother’s words as law.
To trust no one, not even the world or himself, and assume everything was false unless proven true and anyone other than him an enemy unless proven otherwise.
It was the only way he’d be able to survive.
His luck had saved him dozens of times already, but just how lucky would he get in the future?
He wasn’t planning on finding out.
...
Uriel took a deep breath in and slicked his hair back.
Noticing the gesture, which he’d been doing more and more recently, he chuckled.
’I’m starting to copy his manners...’ he flashed a brief smile, shaking his head.
Soon, though, he refocused on the task at hand, slotting the thought away.
Information.
...
>Enchantment: Visions of Sarus {Chrome}
~>Details: By peering into the ambient diverging flows of resonance and dissonance, tear truth from the world and render truths false.
•Gain the ability to have any questions answered as long as your innate and inborn Resonance level is high enough and your mind is malleable enough to attune to diverging natures.
~Note(I): Information deemed classified by the laws of the world and fabric of mortal souls requires higher levels of resonance and high mastery of dissonance.
~Crypt Note(II): Truth often remains the most lethal of poisons. The sun, a blinding core in the skies, was said to once be the shield to the palace in the depths of the heavens, one so grand it drove any mortal mad.
~The Radiance of the Sun blinded mortals, yet the divinity of the palace drove them mad. A lesser evil, in place of eternal agony.
~Sarus lost his eyes trying to witness the palace of Gods and thus became a [?]

Without waiting and filled with impatience, Uriel used Mind Resonance to pull the atmospheric aether around, shedding its foreign nature and turning it natal.
The tendrils of energy dug into his body, seeping through the fibres of his flesh and flowing alongside his blood before being steered towards his tool.
A hum echoed, and Uriel felt the fabric of his tool and its enchantments. It was an elusive feeling that was somehow incredibly clear, like an extra limb he’d never known he had yet had used every day.
He instantly activated the enchantment.
[...]
A small blank screen, akin to that of statuses, appeared in front of him.
Then nothing happened, silence reigning for long seconds that stretched into agonising minutes.
Just as Uriel was about to try and change methods, a voice echoed in his mind.
[Please make your inquiry.]
Weirdly enough, the voice was the exact same as Ophanis’, but Uriel was so excited he didn’t even spare this detail a single thought, though he noted it.
"Yes!" He beamed, his ivory eyes sparkling with the first tinges of genuine joy in days.
Already having made a list of all the questions he wanted to ask, he didn’t waste time.
"W-who am I?" he asked, staring at the screen.
Before asking anything of importance, he needed to test its accuracy and possible limits.
[You are the Prime-Sworn Pioneer, Uriel Ymir Loom, a Human from the nascent world Ithurial. You are the first Pioneer of the world and a beloved of the Weave.]
[You are a descendant of the Human Lineage of the Loom from Ithurial. Further information is sealed due to dormant bloodline locks.]
Uriel’s excitement melted just the slightest bit as he heard the tool’s answer. While it was correct, he’d been hoping for more.
’I’ll have to upgrade it in the future.’
The intent was for his tool to be an engine able to use resonance to decipher most mysteries, from the deepest to the most superficial.
It wasn’t there yet, but he’d have to make do with what he had for now.
"What is a Pioneer?"
[Pioneers are Legends of old, those forged from the flames of seed awakenings and Gods trapped within the Mortal Coil.]
[Each world has what is known as Primordial Fate Paths, intertwined sets of laws and runes that remain dormant and locked unless opened.]
[The more paths are open, the stronger the world becomes and the stronger its inhabitants are. The Paths can only be opened by natives creating Paths of Ascendance grand enough to shatter the laws of evolution.]
[These Paths must be created while in the realms of mortality and be born from Sparks of unseen genius.]
[Per trillion Seed Awakened Worlds, only one has the chance to birth a single Pioneer.]
Uriel’s eyes widened.
[But Pioneers are much greater than this alone.]
