Re: Timeless Apocalypse-Chapter 133: God
And then... and then... he did nothing.
Uriel scratched his head, the slightest bit embarrassed.
Evidently, he’d wanted to test out the offensive capabilities of his darkness element, but it perhaps wasn’t the most suited for a test.
To do so, he’d absolutely have to partially comprehend one branch of the element. His dark and light elements would be the most elusive and complex to master.
In their current form, though they weren’t useless, they were more suited for utility than battle.
His wood element, though...
SHAH!
The orb of darkness shook and, in a blink, it had turned to a twisted mass of vines, tightly packed into an orb that spun on its own axis, a thick floral scent wafting out in waves.
His mind flickered and...
PSHI!
From the ball, hundreds of vines sprang, tearing through the air like launched bullets and moving to impact against the wall and ground, turning the cave into a webbed expanse of vines.
One eerily reminiscent of the corpse’s.
Uriel observed the sprawling structure with awe, his perception and mind spread across every fibre of every single vine, as if they were an extension of his consciousness.
With a mere thought or flicker of his mind, he could control any singular part of the web, from the macro to the micro; all was in his control.
But for some reason, he frowned.
’Something feels off.’
The method through which he controlled his elements left him feeling... strange. Evidently, his control was sloppy and he was nothing more than an amateur, but it felt deeper.
It felt like something fundamental about himself was incompatible with what he was trying to do.
The feeling was so strong he almost felt like his natural talent was trying to tell him something.
’The little witch...’
For some reason, he thought of her. More specifically, he thought of the awe he’d felt back then at how clean and orderly the aether within her body had been.
It felt like an organised and complex system with hundreds of layers fused into her very body, linked to her core and under the control of her will.
It felt like their bodies were fundamentally different. No, it felt like the human body was deeply... imperfect.
It felt like it was incomplete.
He jumped from thought to thought so rapidly and smoothly even he was surprised by the conclusion he’d come to.
’Does that have to do with my inefficiency in terms of aether management? Maybe the human body naturally can only be so effective.’
’Maybe it’s nearly impossible to properly manage your aether reserves as a human.’
He frowned. ’There’s a chance the future ranks tackle this issue through repeated evolutions but if not...’
He carefully caressed his chin and his mind seemingly made yet another random connection to the matter.
’Beasts are more powerful than humans on average, hm, maybe they have something we don’t? If I study enough of them, there’s a chance I can figure something out with runes to mimic them...’
His thoughts drifted to the emperor.
The creature had been able to transmute atmospheric aether to elemental aether, then fuse elemental aether types to form new composite aether types; it had been able to turn its entire body into an amorphous mass of elemental essence.
The emperor had even been able to somehow have its body embody the characteristics of its elements: to move like the wind, strike with the might of a storm, and be as fluid as water.
’There’s definitely something—’
Uriel’s eyes narrowed to pinholes and his hairs immediately stood on end. On instinct, he summoned the spell sentry and instantly activated his uniqueness.
Something had broken his protective formations.
But worse than that, the aura he suddenly felt was...
...
TOH! TOH! TOH!
Steps echoed across the void.
A man, hands clasped behind his back, walked with no hurry in his steps.
His robes were of a pure white, layered and simple, his mid-length hair a rich brown and his pupils a deep shade of blue, sparkling against the somber void around.
It was the man who’d been sitting on the throne, once chained, and now free.
As he walked through the void, his gaze slowly panned across the nothingness, seemingly looking for something or someone.
"Where could the brat have gone..." he uttered out loud with a chuckle.
Eventually, though, he stopped and looked down. "Mm. Hopefully it’s here."
He looked up and then blinked. The void in front of him tore, peeling apart and unstitching like puzzle pieces let loose.
The void in front of him separated like an automated door, bridging distance and collapsing space. He stepped forward and vanished into the spatial tear.
The void mended in his wake, and quiet nothingness lingered alongside his now empty throne.
...
The man’s feet touched hard rock, his metallic boots clinking against the material and loudly echoing.
"Hm?"
With a thought, hundreds of formations around him shattered, and his vision cleared, illuminated by a scintillating shower of broken runes of gold.
He was in a titanic cave, ground of old rock and walls of onyx, with veins of crimson ominously pulsing with light.
And in the distance...
"There you are."
It was a young man.
He had mid-length platinum white hair with silver edges, matching his silver-white eyebrows and long curved brows.
His skin was as white as snow, smooth as jade and spotless as the void, tightly hugging his tall and slender physique, fresh with faint musculature.
The boy’s eyes were of a deep ivory, so much so they seemed like mirrors reflecting the world itself, all colours assembling and dispersing in its depths.
His face was androgynous, soft and delicate, angel-like and holy, yet still held sharp and angular edges, his gaze fierce and presence heavy.
In contrast to his ridiculous beauty, the young man wore nothing but simple and loose grey tunics, his hair slicked and held back by a metallic headband.
"..."
Their gazes met and the older man chuckled.
He could see just how tense Uriel was, but also how the world around reacted, immediately moving to protectively wrap around him.
’Hm. A boy with Human Aphrodisiac Incubus traits...’ he shook his head. ’A true recipe for disaster.’
He stepped forward and Uriel barely had the time to blink before the man was already upon him, his shadow swallowing him whole.
It was only now that they were so close that Uriel realised just how tall the man was.
"Who are you?" he asked, his voice even and calm, yet his body tense beyond belief, ready to explode at any moment.
"Me? I am God."
